-------------------------------
Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, TH-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!
I sit behind a boy in my class who has Tourettes. He's honestly the sweetest boy alive.
yh same I sit by a guy who has it and I don’t know how people act like they are different they are just like us HUMANS there is nothing different
Tell him that, I'm sure it will make his day
thank you so much for saying that bc people think having tourette’s changes your personality or makes you unapproachable when it’s just tics and stuff (i have tourette’s)
@@adinabiton8214 yhhhh !!
@@adinabiton8214 I wouldn't think that aspect of tourettes (the tics), would be what would make one feel like someone with tourettes was unapproachable. In some cases of tourettes one may be prone to having outbursts of profanity, which people may take offense to, especially if they are unaware of their condition. The outbursts of profanity may be misconstrued as aggressive behavior.
i had no idea tourette’s could get stuck like that! you learn something new every day!
anyone can have a locked jaw
@@roy.._yep I've had it
@@roy.._except people with tourette’s can literally be stuck in a position. my friend has a tic where he grips his hand in a fist, and he seriously cannot loosen the grip until time passes. he tries to distract himself and do other things so that eventually his hand will loosen up. it’s not JUST locked jaw, it’s the fact that tourettes can genuinely prevent you from moving a certain body part.
@@v_bunny oh ok sorry 👍👍
People with tourette's can literally break their bones or tear muscles from the condition. That's why trying to "hold it in" is always something doctors say NOT to do.
Do people not realize how this disorder works? It’s not just saying stuff randomly. It comes with jaw locks, joint issues, seizures, etc. educate yourselves before saying what that girl in the back did!!!
She thinks she’s the person who controls the world cuz she has a disorder, not cool
(Talking Abt the girl in the back)
And your comment doesn’t even relate to what she said, how would it mean she can say whatever she wants if she has jaw locks join issues and seizures
Nop even saying someone is authistic they laugh or other particularities
I never knew jaw locks were a common issue, I’ve had friends with tics too I wish they would’ve brought it up to me that they had to deal with these things if any of them have those kinda issues, I commented on my own but I wanted to also mention here, I get a lot of jaw locks from grinding my jaw and having issues where it’ll pop out of alignment, the best way I’ve found to get it unstuck is to relax the jaw and move it backwards while slightly opening it more and it should pop out, I just want to help anyone having this issue who hasn’t found a good, less painful way, to do it
It's like this with any illness/disability. I had one I luckily recovered from, thing that honestly is something I cannot describe, I'm happy. Teenagers are not too empathetic, adults neither. But adults learn at least a bit more as they grow
@@saraknutsen1834 what?

Good morning. Even Leff l Love you too Even Leff I ❤
What did she say? I couldn’t hear her
Yepp, I know exactly how you feel. Back in high school, people would laugh about having seizures and pretend to have one. Meanwhile, me an epileptic, can hear everything they're saying.
I’m not an epileptic and I don’t know anyone who is, but I am currently in high school and the kids in my year do this stuff too. They did mature a bit over the years but not much. I’m sorry you had to listen to/see that.
It’s called not getting enough attention from mommy and daddy, so you act a fool around your “friends” because hopefully their laughs will fill that gaping pit of insecurity in your tiny black heart. 🫠
Just keep it pushing, these people are absolutely pathetic and will clearly make fun of you for anything in exchange for even the slightest bit of attention.
That's wild
So, i was in safe key in 4th grade and some of the kids would pretend to have seizures. I would laugh it off then cause I did not know what that was, but now I realize the safe key staff should of done something.

I have a friend who struggles with tics, and people in her classes always pretend to have them and mock her by making the noises. It is really bad because it could trigger her tics to be more frequent or even send her into a tic attack. People these days...
Edit: why yall always say things abt when people say thanks for the likes? It's appreciation! Anyways, tysm.
I know its beside the point but Im just glad we moved away from the days where people thought you were possessed if you had it. But yeah, you would think in this day and age when we are supposedly so advanced and smart, we would have learned the basics of kindness and decency... so sorry for your friend and good that she has a supportive friend!
Omg, literally! I have one vocal tic and the rest are physical and anytime I see a person with tourettes or somebody doing a tic I have; it can send me into a fit.
It's really crazy too how people can be so uneducated on tourettes. When I was younger my dad would constantly yell at me for my tics, and call them "habits".
When I was first researching tourettes in middle school; my best friend at the time wouldn't even acknowledge that I have it. Simply because she only viewed it as having vocal tics.
And people don't believe ticcing between two people is a real thing! Like, if I see or hear someone ticcing or I see erratic movements, they happen more often. But people think it's just me thinking about trying to do it more :(
@@CrossbredManiaccan confirm.
Watching this set off a little of my ADHD tics.
Maybe more than a little.....
I also have tics and sadly also was bullied a lot for it, now its mostly nose twiching and like 2 other facial tics and its not as common (although one tic still happens rly often but its not as noticeable) but when younger my whole face was all twiching and stuff like all the time and most of the class mocked and made fun of me for it which was rly shitty

@@_neilyoung643 your tools can flip you off?- I didn’t know tools had hands
Although I don’t have Tourette’s, getting my jaw stuck open is so relatable - I occasionally have seizures that cause my hands and mouth to seize up. Omg I’ve been through a similar situation. I was in my biology lab class, overhearing some student in the front of the room complaining about how unfair it was that I get testing accommodations and have extra time on exams. These ppl just don’t understand that the reason you get accommodations is because you have an actual real disability. They are just ableist and jealous that you get accommodations, without understanding the struggles you go through to get them.
Right!? The "extra time" isn't extra time when ppl have a disability, it's supposed to make it similar to the same amount of time for them! Goofballs need harder exams if they can't figure that one out.
It’s giving the kid who’s mad that they don’t get any presents on someone else’s birthday 😭

I didn’t even know it was possible for Tourette’s to do that. Terrifying. I guess you do learn something new every day
I have a tic disorder and that happens often, it can be a little painful sometimes, but it usually wears off in a couple minutes max. :)
I have undefined muscle spasms and tic like movements are starting to become more common... whatever I have it's getting worse but no diagnosis... but when my jaw gets stuck it can get REALLY STUCK&REALLY HURT
I've had this due to tics and severe TMJ and both suck lmao. With tics, i try to distract myself, and with TMJ, i have to massage my jaw muscles until they're relaxed enough to release my jaw
the girl in the back just be like "I am just stupid so I can say anything."
Not sure if it was stuck open due to your jaw locking or what but I have issues with my jaw. Gently rocking it laterally (side to side) can help. Never force your jaw shut.
Have you been evaluated by a dentist or doctor for TMJ?
@@crazycrittergirl7672 Yes, I go to a specialist for it.
Not sure if you're in the states. She's a wonderful doctor. The practice avoids recommending surgery unless it's the only fix. I was given a retainer with added material to keep my teeth a bit more open to allow my jaw to settle properly. I was also shown some strengthening stretches. However, my tmj is likely due to hypermobility. Some people receive botox injections with much relief.

A girl in my class started faking “anxiety tics” the day her bf broke up with her. (He was only in class.) conveniently stopped two days later after her friend called her out
One of my formal toxic friend used to pretend she had anxiety attacks just because she did not wanted to talk in front of the class for orals. She also pretended to be more sensitive than the average just because one of her favorite anime character died. While I was having real panic attacks, got hospitalized after s**cide attempts, got diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder a few years after high school and has hyper sensitivity causing me to be more than just highly emotional...
Good for you for turning around and staring her out, what a small-minded, cruel girl. But also well done for not flipping her off or screaming at her (btw would've been acceptable) it goes to show you are mature and understand your condition well enough to have empathy for those that don't. ❤

When I'm "controlling" my tics in public, i tend to only suppress the more obvious ones but i do quiet tics like opening my mouth really wide like you're doing and like face squinting. I even squeal really quietly sometimes. For people who wants tourettes, you won't be wanting them when you have tic fits you really wish you could stop but can't and will go on for a good hour, sometimes 2 hours of screaming and hitting things and getting really upset because you want it to stop so bad, even when you're shattered from all the ticcing you still can't stop

Tics can be supressed but it's not pleasant to do and you will most of the time end up with a tic attack as a result
My sister has Tourette’s and hear is my take on your question,
In my sisters case she can stop them/suppress them for a period of time, but after suppressing them for long enough she can’t control them anymore and they kinda go crazy, but from what I know in Zara’s case here she has no control over them at all!
So the takeaway here is that Tourette’s Varys from person to person and you should never make fun of someone who has it cause (in most cases) the person has absolutely no control over it whatsoever (I’m not saying you are, cause u just asked a question this is just for anyone else who is reading this)
Hope this helped❤
Thanks

I try to suppress mine but they just end up becoming even worse
Ableism, pure, and simple. It seems to be growing all over the world, but especially in the US. It's disgraceful.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that don’t let her get u down you’re amazing 🫶🏻✨
If I was your friend and sitting next to you in that situation, hearing that be said, that girl would have gotten a very unpleasant confrontation from me whether in a dead silent classroom/work environment or after the class was over. I understand that Tourettes can be a struggle, and I commend you for having more self control than I would have had in that situation. ❤ With all that said I love your videos and you sharing your experiences! Keep up with all that you do :)
You're a good friend. I have tourettes and wish people would stand up for me when people make comments like this
I hate people like that a simular thing happened to me so basically some girl posted on her story that one friend who literally hits u for no reason and @ me in her story I told her to delete it and she said no
Also the reason y I hit her is bc tics
Yikes I’m so sorry that happened to you, I hope you aren’t friends with that jerk anymore. I had a classmate say something similar to that girl in the video and my entire table immediately started roasting him. My dude really forgot discrimination exists. 🙄
Bro you do agression against her? Oh hell noo
@@dogwithdog They physically can’t control it, it’s a tic. You can’t help it and you don’t mean to do it. Getting mad at that would be like getting mad at someone for accidentally hitting you during seizure.
@@SystemError1466 bro i understand your point. I throught she was hitting her directly
@@dogwithdog Okay bro not trying to attack you or anything, they said the reason they hit people is because of tics but maybe you didn’t see that, it was easy to miss. You understand now so everything’s all good 👍
Thats the thing.... you WONT say what YOU want..😂
As somone with tics watching someone with tics listen to somone faking it makes me really sad
I saw colors i disliked
HAHHAHA
She seriously said "I'll have tourettes then I can say anything" like girly you're obviously already saying anything you want when you're going to say things like that. That is just so rude and how rude and miserable do you have to be to make that comment.
sure. just so happens to come up when you film. whatever makes you happy
for real
dude i have tics and i am more than capable of setting up a camera if i happen to start ticcing. unless its a tic attack because then id be likely to throw my phone
Yeah!!! I heard a girl say that she would pretend to be autistic or have adhd (things I both am by the way) and she could say or do anything. It’s literally crazy the things people think, at, do and hurt the disabled community.
First seisures now tourettes yeah real fucking good acting
not that good lets be honest
she has both, tourettes and seizures are comorbid. if you have tourettes you're more likely to have seizures aswell. just like ADHD and autism. people can have multiple disorders
@@evadebaas get a life
Not👏your👏business!
People can have multiple disorders! Many of which are comorbid.
The reactions to this are beutiful don't care what yall say she fucking stupid if she died nobody would care I doubt half the people she knows remember she exist anyway I don't care if she's "comorbid" or not it's dumb as hell to record it and post it for attention
it sounds like that girl already says whatever she wants and cannot understand the difficulty and embarrassment that may go along with saying/doing involuntary things. how insensitive of her to say that when you are minding your own business entirely
I love how people be sayin' " Awwww don't let people like her ruin your day "... While you be sitting here with ur mouth stuck wide open. Hope it went alright.
Okay, I'm really awkward with commenting on shorts and videos... but as a teenager with Tourettes, diagnosed professionally, this disorder doesn't you can just say anything willy nilly. It's a lot more than just vocal tics and saying words, I'll grunt, or forcefully swallow something that's not in my throat and after so long, it's painful. The physical ones aren't much better with the fact they can be aggressive one moment and then I lock up and they go back to being aggressive. I often get frustrated because of my tics, and even cry because of the overwhelming feeling and stuff because I also struggle with sensory issues. So yeah, sorry about this little rant? Vent? Or whatever this is, but I guess more insight for those that don't know much about Tourettes.
Also, I seriously can't tell if I made a typo in that mess, so ignore any in there, thanks! ^-^
Also, my little thing to help like locked joints in my face is to rub them very slowly, but as you possibly know, even if it unlocks it might lock back up...
I don't have touretts but I have really bad PTSD and autism so I can relate to alot of stuff x
Hi there fellow autistic!!
Arnt you the girl who fainted in class what happened to that ?
She still has that disorder, look up FND and that will answer your question
i couldn’t live a day with tourrettes i have so much respect for you
Ugh. I have TS too and this is bringing back so many memories of trying to focus on class. I feel you babe. All I can say is you aren't alone ❤❤❤
if you thought of one of your verbal tics when you got stuck then surely that tic might happen and get you unstuck it was just a thought xx
It doesn't work that way, tics are random and most often not what you're thinking. You don't really trigger certain tics by thinking of them, just that sometimes there can be things that trigger certain tics. Idk about anyone else, but I've never had a tic that unstuck me when I've gotten stuck like that haha
@@annabethchase7178 ok x
It’s a shame that people are so judgmental
seeing so much of people faking these makes me wonder which ones are real😭
Honestly! The internet has broken me because I immediately don’t believe people who post their mental issues online.
I mean... her whole channel chronicles everything... you can go check what she says about getting diagnosed and being on disability and how incredibly fucking hard it is to live on a tiny government benefit because you can't consistently work.
Its crazy (to me) that my tics arent triggered by seeing yours (for the most part anyway). Like, the ones that look the way some of mine feel or sound might trigger one or two, but i can mostly watch your videos without ticking.
Ah yes, don’t you WISH you had a life altering, at times debilitating, physically & mentally painful disorder with no cure just so you “sAy aNyThInG???”🤔🙃 Also what does she WANT to say that she needs a disorder to say otherwise??? Very sus😬💀
One of my tics is violently shaking my head like a dog for a second and pulling my arms into my body (I've had to get my friends to hold things for me because of that tic) and people at my school **LOVE** to copy me and mock me 🥲
well maybe if you didnt have such a bad reaction to it they might actually stop or maybe just stop being such a snowlake
Don't do it then
