My family was stationed at Clark in the mid-1970's...I attended Grissom Elementary and Lily Hill Middle Schools...loved HOG and LYNX mini golf...the NCO club (pancit and banana lumpia!)...base swimming pool...the library...the parade grounds...custom made bell bottom pants from the seamstress off-base...the beauty salon off-base...the sugarcane fields...carabao...open house days at the airfield...good memories and good times! Clark had its own urban legends too. I believed them all!
Thank you for putting this video up. I deployed to Clark AFB with 77SQN Royal Australian Air Force in April 1991 for Cope Thunder 91-6. We returned home just before the volcano went bang. I remember most of the places shown in the video. Great times for me.
I'm so excited about this video!! I was stationed there as a child and attended Macarthur. We left months before the Mt.Pinutoba evacuation. Thank you for sharing.
wow awesome video i went to mac Arthur elementary school in 1984 and Lilly Hill middle in 1990 then we moved back to the states when the base closed due to Pinatubo erupting in 91 really good memories growing up in the phillipines while my father was in the service the teacher where mixed Americans and Filipinos and where excellent teachers
Thank you for producing and sharing this video with us. Our family were among those that were evacuated just before the eruption. We left with just what we could carry, just thankful for safe passage.
'86 to '89 - Regional Relay Facility. We cried when we departed PCS. What a magical time for us. We still use the furniture we bought off base, back then. I see on Google Earth that our on-base house is little more than jungle nowadays. Two of our children were born there and it always creates interesting discussion for them when their friends ask, "where were you born?" Got my pilot's license at the Aero Club and I still fly today. My instructor was the Aero Club manager, Russell Large. I'm sitting here smiling while I type this. I can close my eyes and can see and smell what it was like back then. Swimming at the O-Club on Christmas day each year. Driving to Banue like a maniac to pass all the slow moving jeepney's. Going up the road to Banue past the Lion's Head. We love to look at the videos of those times. Bought our very first VHS camera at the BX there. Sigh......

Sir Virgil, Have you been gone back there to Clark? When you plan to go there again along with your family you fellas could fly air Asiana that airline goes there after a stop over at a other Asia country. If you want a straight flight to the Philippines flight the pal airlines.

Before much time passes chances are that Clark will be renamed “Mao Peoples’ Defense Complex”. And the inhabitants of that regime’s insular presence will continue to fill their five gallon water buckets from ‘certified’ foreign water plants in the midst of the Filipino’s nation. And then proceed off base to sample soft drinks cooled by Filipino ice. I saw that as a round eye. Living in Pampanga decades ago. Time marches on.

if clark reestablished, probably no families ever again. too risky and tons of $$$ . just as well couldn't have H.O.G. day any more, women offended.
