It seemed after the 1st line "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" Lex was all in, which if you know her should not have been surprising. This song has always been so catchy and fun, but Lex's smile and energy had me enjoying it more than I have in a long time.

    • @radicaladz

It's a line so strange and catchy, most people mistake it for the title. It's got that high-level memeosity. ;)

When Hoyt Axton originally wrote the song, the 1st line was Jeremiah was a prophet. It got changed before this recording to give the song a lighter feel to it.

    "Three Dog Night”

This song came out when I was about 7-8 years old and was probably the first song I knew the lyrics by heart.
Every time I hear it, it reminds me of 1970-1971, and when every time it came on the car radio my three older sisters and I would sing it as loud as we could.
Love this song 50 years later.

"Joy to the World" was one of my favorite songs when I was a little kid back in the early 70's. Bullfrogs? Fishes? What more could a five year old boy want from a romp in the outdoors? Three Dog Night featured three great vocalists fronting a great rock-funk-soul band circa 1970. They ruled pop radio in the early seventies with over twenty top forty hits including three number ones. When you're ready for more from Three Dog Night, check out some of their other songs, "One", "Shambala", "Eli's Coming", "Easy to Be Hard", "Celebrate", "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", "Out In The Country", "Never Been to Spain", "Try a Little Tenderness", "Ain't That A Lotta Love", "Out In The Country", and "Black & White" among others.

Loved this song since it came out! A funny story with this song that I can remember was I was 9 and my grandma taught Sunday School at our church and as she was asking us about different people in the bible she asked us who was Jeremiah to which a young boy in the room shouted out He was a Bullfrog,of course my grandma didn`t know what to think,I can still see her expression,lol..Love me some Three Dog Night, more please..Keep On Rockin'

Believe I was 14 when this hit the 📻. Loved it then and now. A mood lifter. Almost caught them in Williamsport, Pa. They were 2 hrs. Late. Music was bouncing off the houses. People were letting you in an open space in the fence. Ions ago!

This was the first song my mom ever taught me to sing. I turned around and and taught it to my daughter and eventually my granddaughter. It's just a great fun hippie lovin song. It's hard to be in a bad mood listening to this that's for sure!

Part of the wallpaper of my youth, a great time for music. The name "Three Dog Night" supposedly refers to a phrase meaning a night so cold that you needed to sleep with three dogs. P.S. It's not a Christmas song cover, but an original, fun/nonsense song.

Chuck Negron was on the Stern show once and told a story about touring the US during Three Dog Night’s hey day and how many many groupies he had and he developed a blood blister on his Johnson and at one concert he hooked up with Miss Oklahoma and the blister burst and he went to the doctor and he was traumatized because he had no idea if he’d ever be able to use his Johnson again or if he was going to get stitches and the doctor said this happens all the time! 😂

The contrast in the reactions is absolutely hilarious! I’m not sure if anyone could be more stoic than Brad here (and how is it even possible to be stoic to this song, lol?!), while Lex is FEELING it and GROOV’N to this song with all the JOYOUS ABANDON the band could ever have hoped for! She is absolutely adorable! Love her reaction. I’m not anywhere nearly as demonstrative as Lex - but she captures the spirit of how I feel inside EVERY time time I hear this song - going back 50 years!! 🎶🌎🌸🐠🕺🥰

I was a stagehand for these guys. One of my jobs was to tape print-outs of the lyrics to their set list to the deck. Chuck had gotten so bad with the drugs and alcohol that now he can't even remember the words to the songs that he made famous. He survived all that, got clean and whatnot, but his brain just never was the same afterward.

Lex's suggestion on using the song to quell a prison riot has led to my favorite Brad reaction of all time: the visual "take" directly to the camera would've made Johnny Carson proud.

Lol...Lex and her giggle are so refreshing! Even Brad had a grin on his face during this one. But if you want a prison song, try War and "Slipping Into Darkness". You will know them from other songs such as "War" and "Lowrider". They have a pretty good catalog!

Three Dog Night was a hit making machine out of the 70's.... You can't NOT include "Jeremiah had a Bullfrog" in an all-time intro lyric list!! Such good grooves!!

ANY LIVE show of THREE DOG NIGHT is a treat to watch. Long before Midnight Special or MTV, any music prior to 1980 is only for a TV guest appearance or special event that was recorded

Three Dog Night is a seven member group with 3 lead singers. All took the lead depending on the song, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Corey Wells (rip). I love watching their live performances. TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS (Otis Redding) 1960'S version is my favorite.

One of the best intros to a song!!!!
Brad the stoic thinker and Lex the Wilding vibing one.
But yes Brad there is a church vibe to it (as is a lot of songs in my opinion)
