  • I built out a half dozen Black Eagle X-Impact 4mm Arrow shafts with 2.25" TAC vanes for urban archery season. They shoot like darts and tuned well with my current bow setup. Below are the specs for the arrows and my bow but first be sure to follow me on social media to stay up to date with my current setups and performance!

      With the f.o.c.o.s. system you can nock tune after since the bh/fp screws into the outsert. Just have to loosen the set screw

    Save some money folks- clean everything with 91% alcohol, not expensive wipes and glues. I wipe the base of every brand vane. I have used Gorilla brand " instant" glue for years and very very seldom loose a vane. Make sure and clean the inside of any shaft too so the low temp hotmelt can grab better.

      Oddly black Eagle suggests using just water no alcohol or acetone. Which is mind boggling, I've never had that successfully work.
      Gorilla glue with the blue cap is the best glue for fletching.

    I'm gonna be trying some x-impacts in my onieda for my first time bow hunting this year. Build plan is 300 spine x-impacts cut at 31, standard black eagle outserts, 3 inch shield cut x-vanes, easton deep six nocks, and a 150gr annihilator xl broadhead this should put me at around 480gr 15% foc and 240fps at 60lbs

    I went to the X impacts with 80 grain FOCOS outserts last year with my V3-31.
    I love them so much I am using them again this year on my new new V3X-29.
    They hit hard and have a great FOC.
    I am at 14% FOC with these with a finished arrow weight of 421 grains
    Speed I’m getting is 283 FPS.

    Great video! I’m just building some BE Spartan arrows using the blue cool melt (Thanks for the cool melt tips!) and plan on Exodus Full Blade broadheads as my state won’t allow the swept. I’m still deciding on 100 or 125 grain, is there a reason you chose the 100 grain? I subbed a few weeks ago, Great channel!

      one thing i would add on the on using cool melt, is also clean the inserts before gluing/inserting. Remove the nocks before you insert, as the little bit of air pressure might move the inserts before it completely cures, especially if you use epoxy. The spartan nock bushings are hollow so you won't have any issues there either.

    How do you like the x impacts compared to the Orion? And how are the Tac vanes compared to the heat vanes? I ordered some Orion arrows because they are slightly lighter than the x impacts just torn between heats and the driver 2.75

    • @jeffcordero_
      @jeffcordero_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From a consistency standpoint point and overall quality the X-impacts are better than the orions. Some batches of the Sirius arrows are inconsistent but by no means “bad”. All the Black Eagle arrows I have across the different sizes have always spun very true. When it comes to the vanes I’m about to do a lot of testing of different vanes and configurations. That video is in the works and should be put in the next month or so. Stay tuned 😉

    Was blessed with an amazing wifey. She bought me a new Mathews V3x 33... what an amazing woman and fantastic bow. It is my first real flagship bow. I am now in the process of figuring out which shafts etc work best with the bow. I have no way to Fletch 4 at the moment. But am fletching different angles, straight, 1 degree, 3 and helical in several shafts. I have it narrowed I think to Easton 4 and 5 mm axis as well as 5 mm FMJ's. My question to you is, are the shafts you use better? Am I too invested in Easton lol? Also have great .001 shafts from Bass pro that seem fantastic and also Carbon Express Mutants. SO far the helical seems most accurate out beyond 40 yards to 100. Is this your experience at all and why the move to 4 vanes? What differences does th make in the real world?
    Thanks much.

      I've had great performance with Vap Tko 300's. Helical for sure, both accuracy and broadhead stability. Current setup- 300's, ethics 135 and 100 grain heads. 4 fletch max stealth with 3* left helical. 545 grain taw. Fly like darts and proven to break bones. That said, there's 24 Easton injexions I'm playing with and who knows they may become hunting arrows.

    5mm - .204 and up is far easier and less headache to build. Brass hit inserts and iron will collar if you think you need. Square em up good. Gorilla hot melt the point and whole nine yards in. Bombproof and easily changed. ALL outserts and half outs bend over time shooting bag targets. Check your points for wobble after a month of shooting half outs....ooops. sucks. Iron will Snyder core is the only way I would bother with micro diameter. But why.

    • @jeffcordero_
      @jeffcordero_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that 5mm's have a wider variety of components that you can mix and match to accomplish your arrow building goal, but I wouldn't say they are "easier" to build. the same work applies regardless of shaft diameter. As for wobble with he outserts, I'm fortunate enough to shoot foam nearly every time I shoot.

    I’m done with small or micro arrows. Components all suck, halfouts will easily bend and cause arrow wobble. I’ve been using rip tko and while I love the durability, the inserts just don’t hold up. I’ve used rampage and they were the worst. This year I went with carnivores and I must say I was very satisfied. Easier to find inserts for the weight I’m looking to run. Cheaper and better, for me of course.

    • @tripleb2128
      @tripleb2128 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's one of the main advantages to the F.O.C.O.S the inserts are glued into arrow and the outserts screw on so if you do bend one you just unscrew the bent one and put on a new one. Great design. Also check out ethic archery outsert system it has a insert with a outsert overlay and it's very tough and holds up great.
