This show had some the greatest writing, characters, casting, and comedic acting EVER, Michael J. Fox deserved every Golden Globe he won, the supporting cast was incredible, so talented, NYC was the perfect location, the scenery, the set designs, wardrobes, ambience, colors, entire atmosphere, I love everything about it, I will be watching this forever :)
Ah, Spin City. My childhood memories of coming off the school bus and running to my house to catch the reruns on FX every day still makes me smile. This is just another one of those special shows that had such brilliant writing and a once in a lifetime cast. Michael J. Fox had not one but TWO iconic series. Spin City is definitely on my list of greatest sitcoms ever along with Family Ties, The Cosby Show, The Andy Griffith Show, Sanford and Son, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, Cheers, Benson, The Golden Girls, Martin and Married with Children.
Was too young to follow along and even be interested in watching this show when it first aired but remember my mother watching it. Then saw reruns playing in the morning on FX in the late 2000's and started watching it. Became hooked pretty quickly and would get up early enough to make sure I didn't miss any episodes. One of my all-time favorite sitcoms along with Cheers and Seinfeld. I've always been a fan of Michael J Fox's work going all the way "Back to the Future" lol.
I've just been binge watching this show again and it was perfectly cast, or rather the cast was perfectly balanced. Mike was kind of conniving but still a nice guy. Charlie Sheen's character wasn't likeable enough but of course he had some big shoes to fill. Funny, intelligent and well written show. :)
Mike [Flaherty] was my favourite character watching this the first time but now, like Cheers, Frasier etc -each of the cast (and I think more of the first three seasons) I have affection for. Barry Bostwick in particular, what an actor.
@Bondek1996 It was such a brilliant ensemble. One of the most unique ones too with such different types too. Mike was a great lead for them all. Spin City is one of the all time best comedies tv ever produced. Also on the list of the few shows where I love and laugh at all the characters equally with Family Ties, Cheers, Seinfeld, Frasier, Barney Miller, The Golden Girls, The Andy Griffith Show, Modern Family, The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son.
. The only one of that long list which in my opinion deserves to be up there with Spin City is Barney Miller. Everybody Loves Raymond was very funny but the characters were not likable the way the Spin City characters were.
Such a great and gunny show. Carter was one of the most real people on the show. Stuart is the perfect complement. TV had never had a better double-act.
Delighted to find this examination of Spin City. It was my favorite show back in the day. I got tired of waiting for it to come out on dvd and bought a set of bootleg recordings. Almost every one had the first few seconds missing!
And yet the Sheen period contains the most jaw dropping moment, between Caitlin and Richard Kind when he let's the mask fall and tell her what he really thinks.

I must get the DVDs. Stuart was one of my favorites. He was naughty, a little cold at times, yet he had a heart. I miss the show
Bondek and Carter were such an iconic duo all of them were The Mayor aswell they all made the show!
I miss this show , Mike was the best , and the crew man funny as hell .

FYI it's on Amazon Prime, I'm on season three. Grew up watching and taping this on VHS.
This is a GREAT SHOW.. always my go to show... I hated when mike left I cannot watch the Charlie sheen ones

The Michael J Fox seasons are the absolute BEST!!!! Should have ended afyer he left. BEST sitcom ever!
They didn't feature Mike's great love in that season. She was kept out even after all these years.
