- This documentary was shot in LA and Vancouver as part of a series I was Executive Producer of called 'Pacific Report'.
It shows Mike Fox in his initial years of stardom, and when this was shot he was doing 'Family Ties' all day, while shooting 'Back to the Future' at night. He was pretty bagged to say the least.
Mike's hometown Vancouver produced documentary, includes exclusive footage from his younger days. Also filmed at his house in LA, and Family Ties set...

My Father worked in the Air Lines as a Ticket Agent, and met his fair share of celebrities. My Dad met Michael J Fox and said Mike was a very kind person, super humble and had a genuine soul.

It's good to see when someone like Michael who is a kind soulful individual gets his break in show business and be successful. What is painful to learn of his health with Parkinson's disease. I pray he is able to do what he can to overcome those health obstacles.

For 25 he is a deep thinker and very eloquent. I was never that eloquent at 25. It is incredible to see. So down to earth.
Michael is a living legend. He was on the brink of absolute failure but then he landed Family Ties and the rest is history. He persevered and he got the success he deserves. He got Parkinson’s but the difference he’s made in funding the research is amazing. He’s a great actor and guy and I hope he gets cured someday. This video was so heavy 💫

Anytime I watch bttf I feel life everything for the next two hours is okay with the world and all my problems and worries fall to the wayside, it’s why I love movies and being able to kinda lose yourself for a couple of hours.

michael's greatest strength as an actor is making every one of his characters likable--in real life, i don't think i'd ever associate with someone like alex, but when mike plays him i just want to be this guy's best friend! :P

Love seeing old footage like this. I remember fondly the 80's and all the fun loving movies. Such a good time to be a teen. I truly felt like those movies like Back To The Future and Pretty In Pink were made for my generation who were teens at the time. I was 15 in 1985 and got my first job at the Cinema 4 Theater. It was a pleasure to be able to see all those movies for free.

The 1980's was the best time of my life as well. We were young, healthy, and full of life and indeed life was good.
Things have changed in the world so much (for the worse) and it pains me to think how different everything is today from back then. I will always look back at the 80's as THE best time of my life :)

I recently rediscovered Michael after watching some old Family Ties episodes and although I’ve always liked him as an actor and all his movies when I was younger I didn’t pay much attention to these type of interviews. He is indeed one of a kind. His parents raised him to be the special man he is today. Humble, family oriented, he has a beautiful soul and he is gorgeous. God bless him.

seeing J Fox im always get the pure 80s feeling in my mind and body- the 80s were so far out the best time in my life---after that life and society got worse and isnt fun anymore.

Mike is actually Canadian. I went to high school with him in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

How amazing. Thanks so much for posting this. I was just a kid in '87, and BTTF series, Family Ties, and Teen Wolf are huge parts of my childhood. I lived in Studio City when I was 25, close to where his house was, according to your doc. It was fascinating to see him the same age as me, talking about buying juice at Ralph's, and dealing with fame so young.

He's from Vancouver where the show was based. We knew him personally as he started his career at CBC where we worked.

I love how he's honest about why he didn't leave Family Ties despite making it as a huge movie star. Yeah he liked the show, the cast etc, but being signed for 6 years and then leaving would likely mean they'd sue him. I've never seen him say that so explicitly anywhere else.
Saying that, he did sign for an additional 7th year of Family Ties with the rest of the cast when he didn't have to.

thanks for uploading this, was great to watch, I was only 10 when I watched BTTF 1 and from then I read every thing I could about Michael and I have always said it's thanks to Michael why I Learned to read. anything about Michael I was glued to it, had to read everything and was excited to watch every movie he ever made, still to this day I watch at least 2 of his movies every week.

The first Michael J Fox movie I saw was Teen Wolf. Don't remember when I first saw it, but remember growing up and always wanting to rent it from the video store. Own it on DVD, but still need to get the BTTF series on DVD, or Blu Ray.
