I'm surprised reishubb forgot how storm sickness originally worked. I thought he would mention it in the video but originally storm sickness was time based rather than damage based. If you spent like 6 minutes in storm then you would get storm sickness. But the major issue was players who were given a max distance zone pull would die to storm sickness whether it be a 1 tick or an 8 tick. So then it was changed to be based on damage taken.
Tbh, rebooting resetting storm sickness makes sense, I mean, you die, leave, and come back, you don't have your guns and items, you're a new spawn, so of course you wouldn't have storm sickness. Really weird that's judged an exploit, if it's in the game, it's in the game.
I feel like that's a situation where similar to how the CIA busted Al Capone. Epic wanted to punish them for such a strategy, but what they did was perfectly in line, Epic gave them the book for a smaller crime.
it wasnt that simple only reason it "reset" sickness is because they died to it it didnt technically reset it because if u healed off in zone for 600 dam again you didnt get it it was completely gone on top of that instant death the counter to healing of against sickness also got negated making it a exploit
It’s not resetting from the player it fully removed it from the player that means if you die 1 time from storm sickness and get rebooted you will never get it again in the same game
And remember, buildings are the SOLE reason the heal spam is meta. In zero build, none of this works because all it takes to instantly wipe you is someone shooting you because you can't just press a "your guns do nothing in this PVP shooter game" button and build a small mansion around you that can tank multiple mags of ammo from the most powerful guns in the game.
Original release BR only had large shields and they were so rare you carried them in your inventory until late game. If you took damage up until that point you could heal with medkits (more available) and not waste precious blue. As someone who stopped around the time planes were added and came back recently the amount of healing available now seems somewhat absurd.
Since Zero Build came out, I have not touched build mode, and this is so foreign to me. ZB matches never get to a closed storm. They barely get to moving storms. At least I dont have to deal with heal offs
In my opinion, heals should lose effectiveness the longer you’re in the storm (at least for end game). Your medkit, or any heal, should have a timer that starts when you enter the zone in end game, rapidly decreasing its effectiveness as time goes on.
What pisses me off is how Epic games handles people who find exploits, instead of them saying something like, "oh shit thats not supposed to be in the game", its, "your temporarly banned because you found a way to outsmart the system", which doesent make sense in games in which take stratagy to win, an exploit isn't a cheat, but an unintended feature, these people outsmarted the system and epic got all pissy about it
MY SOLUTION: In the final 1 or 2 zones, players heal for 50% of damage dealt to other players, this increases to 100% of damage dealt if both players are in the storm. Incentivizes people to take action and actually fight, or at least try to, as opposed to just full tarping in and praying if they arent the team on height. People can still heal off but theres way more risk, especially if other players know where you are/can find you with visual audio or something. This would at very least lead to more games ending in actual gunfights.
The cause of the heal off meta, I just realized, is actually the storm itself. We get to a heal off because the storm keeps getting smaller and smaller and eventually players are more worried about the storm they are about each other. I think the ending matches would be better if whether or not the storm circle got smaller was dependent on how many people are alive. This would mean that at a certain point offensive play would be more rewarded than defensive play. The last storm circle should never get smaller than like four boxes to ensure that each match actually ends with a fight. I can’t believe I’ve never thought of this.
Fuck THANKYOU. YES. they have been making the storm stronger and stronger. Start of last chapter more games I died to storm than bullets. The storm is too strong. So it makes healing the most important thing. Just use the storm to help the players find one another. Not end the game on a technicality.
the problem then, is that games could end in a tie due to server timeout. the storm acts as a timer for the game, so the games dont last forever, and so that you cant get a server stuck in a situation where both players in a 1v1 just never attack each other
Just make it so the storm interrupts healing. Doesnt prevent it, just an intitial interruption if you are healing before it touches you, only applicable to final storms.

Im so glad someone made a current vid on this issue. If Epic would fix the scoring system in FNCS then Peterbot and Pollo would bring this game back to life breaking more records, making great entertainment.
Ultrakill has a 'hard damage' mechanic that prevents you from face tanking too much, since healing is so accessible in that game. What is sto damage instead of just hurting you, reduced your max health by half the storm damage. That way you can use healing to mitigatie it, but nowhere nearly as long
Easy way to fix heal offs is instead of a closing zone i hope they do a constant 24/7 moving zone or one that never closes just keeps finding new end game circle spots. It would keep the fights going, more end game fights compared to hiding in closed zone to heal.
Idk how epic hasnt fixed this. Theres so many options and its like they wont try anything. Heres just a few ideas: 1. Make heals less effective in the storm in the final circles. Maybe make them more effective or go faster when your within the circle in the final few storms. This incentivizes players to remain within the circle and fight more as its easier to heal there. 2. Add siphon in the final circles, so you can heal by killing other people, incentivizing fighting. Or add it to the whole game, but make the amount of health you gain scale based on the current storm. So early game you gain more or less nothing from siphon, late game you gain enough to easily survive as long as you kill people. 5. Change storm sickness to just be some equation like: (time in storm) × (base storm damage) × (3rd multiplier). If you stay in the storm longer, the damage slowly increases. If you exist and reenter the storm, it resets the time youve been in the storm. Make the 3rd multiplier get larger in later zones so they start to ramp up the damage faster. This stops players from trying to avoid the storm entirely the whole game. 4. Do all of the above and make the final circles move a bit less and close more slowly. I think one issue is that when its easy to heal off, players will avoid rotating with the final circle because they are out of mats and its just better to heal off while the storm is still moving. So instead make the storm move and close slower, to help prioritize fighting more. This only works when combined with siphon or something to make healing easier by fighting.
The storm itself is the problem. There’s no reason the storm should shrink to nothing causing a win on a technicality. Storm should shrink no further than about 4 tiles wide and then grant everyone siphon. Problem solved.
it all started back up in chapter 4 season 2 with long healoffs when they added the most broken healing item, the slurp juice, before then yeah maybe 1 or 2 plays would play zone with chugs or try to time a medit, but after they added the slurps you could legit fight in 10 tick zones, along with CHUGS still being in the game and pizza, and slurpfish. And all of those thing weren't hard to find. I remember when people would go over water and just stack an insane amount of heals with fishing and mark the box later. Man heal off was crazy in chapter 4

last time i payed attention to the competitive scene, was back when kevin’s low gravity was making every float. i remember seeing tons of clips about it. i guess things have evolved very little since then.
You also forgot the time where a team would kill another team, but instead of finishing the whole team, they would leave one person knocked. This allowed them to go to a spot that had a regenerating slurp flower. This flower allowed the team to pickaxe the guy a couple of times, heal him up with the flower, and do this process all over again. This was crucial because if you do enough damage in the match, and get stuck in storm, you won’t be able to get storm sickness (or something like that) So they ended up doing this strat, healing off in storm without the disadvantage, and were able to win (idk if they did win)
An idea to solve heal outs. While in the storm, health replenishing items start to degrade. If you stay in the storm for 15 seconds without getting out, medkits and bandages start disintegrating one by one until you have none left. you can keep shield items since it won't protect you from the storm, but allows players some confidence to fight. effected items disintegrate in a single second, starting with bandages and then moving on to bigger sources of health. Depending on how many they have, you will lose all your healing within 40 seconds.
ok but as a spectator I enjoy heal offs, as an extremely average player who enjoys the the spectacle of fncs/ranked gameplay seeing matches end in a way entirely different from any lobbies ive ever participated in or loadouts unlike anything id ever use is marvelous.
Medkits and big pots should only heal when the animation ends, with the animation duration ending whenever you the item can't heal you any more. They'd be less useful in heal offs (storm damage would prolong the animation duration), you'd heal faster if close to full HP, and you'd be able to cancel the animation to keep the items.
Personally think the weird hoops people jump through to avoid having to fight at the end of a match and such is very interesting especially because it highlights several design oversights and such as well as different approaches towards fixing it, no less engaging than build spam galore until someone slips up honestly but you do to feel the seconds tick by and I get why that makes it so icky to sit through, something something low attention span overstimulated nonsense or whatever is the ideal goal :b
Suggestion: turn the storm into a gladiator ring by stopping the storm from shrinking, and show where other teams are, encouraging people to fight with eachother, and not to give it up to heal offs, and if a Victory isn't had within 3 minutes of this activating, close the storm extremely fast, change the damage from 10 to 20, and make all forms of healing impossible to use.
In LoL theres this thing called Grevious Wounds which makes heals 30% less effective, I would apply that effect in the final storms, you can heal off flopers somewhat to rotate but in general you lose more health than gain if you stay making it more convenient to just stay in the circle
I think one way to solve the heal off problem is by making the storm not fully close in the final circle but making it shrink vertical until a certain layer. This will allow ONLY one person to still be in zone and not taking damage, and there will be a lot of fighting around this zone. Since you could stay in that zone for as long as you want to, healing becomes useless. And to not make it unfair because of rng you could show the last zone on the map so that everybody knows where it will be. (Pin?)
Man who would’ve guessed people would’ve turned to survivability over styling on your enemy…man if only there was something that game this away so obviously….something like real life money on stake of you winning a game rather than real life money for how many kills you get that game…man who would’ve ever thought
The solution is simple: change the moving circles in Competitive play so that the width of the circle largely stays the same until the very last circle, but the storm starts closing in vertically towards the ground instead of horizontally towards the epicenter. Also maybe add two or three more circles in total in order to achieve this effect. Cutting off Height will compel players to battle each other without the high chance of there being a heal-off at the end.
This is what I like about Fortnite tho the goal isn’t necessarily to kill your opponent but it’s to be the last person alive so if you can hide or heal in the storm or something it’s a good strategy. Fortnite just has a more flexible sandbox to allow for alternate strategy compared to other battle royales so that’s why there isn’t heal off in those.
All they have to do is increase the lethality of final ring. Make the final ring have a fast storm sickness that basically would incentivize players to actually fight in the final ring instead of survive. I know it could be an anticlimactic end, but these heal offs are already anticlimactic and drawn out.
There's an easy solution to this. You have not one but two randomly moving areas which slowly converge. One is the normal 'Safe from the Storm' circle which starts big and goes smaller, moving around as it shrinks. The other, the new one is a different colour - say blue and it's called something else like 'Null Zone' and it prevents any kind of healing if a players is within. It starts small and as the 'Safe Circle' gets smaller and moves the No Healing 'Null Zone' gets bigger and moves around. At the end game you end up with nobody able to heal and everyone taking storm damage so it would encourage people to fight.

I love the reminder, saying remember everyone was a bit shi- 🤣🤣
Always a good day when reiss posts
Possible solution: healing items heals less when your in the storm. It will heal less and less as the storm does more damage
(Pin?)
"he tryna gas it up" LMFAOO
That ending is a W
Simple and to the point
Life is always good when reisshub posts
Ah back when the endgame was fun to watch 0:29
final circles interrupt heals
would probably be complained about heavily
but it would force fix the issue
Man who would’ve guessed people would’ve turned to survivability over styling on your enemy…man if only there was something that game this away so obviously….something like real life money on stake of you winning a game rather than real life money for how many kills you get that game…man who would’ve ever thought
I've watched Reisshub since forever and this guy deserves way more subs
No he doesn't.
@@diehardskins4109 bro thinks he’s him 💀
always a smashing day when the man himself uploads
hi reisshub i really love your videos i can definitely learn from the things to get better
2:25 most of their suggestions were…not good…😂😂😂😂😂shit cracked me up
The solution is simple: change the moving circles in Competitive play so that the width of the circle largely stays the same until the very last circle, but the storm starts closing in vertically towards the ground instead of horizontally towards the epicenter. Also maybe add two or three more circles in total in order to achieve this effect. Cutting off Height will compel players to battle each other without the high chance of there being a heal-off at the end.
Sometimes 6 medkits is not even enough 😂
REISS omg I LOVE YOU THAT INTRO GOT ME IN TEARS LMAO PLEASE YOU ARE THE BEST
This might actually be the best as for zero build ive ever seen
This is what I like about Fortnite tho the goal isn’t necessarily to kill your opponent but it’s to be the last person alive so if you can hide or heal in the storm or something it’s a good strategy. Fortnite just has a more flexible sandbox to allow for alternate strategy compared to other battle royales so that’s why there isn’t heal off in those.
All they have to do is increase the lethality of final ring. Make the final ring have a fast storm sickness that basically would incentivize players to actually fight in the final ring instead of survive. I know it could be an anticlimactic end, but these heal offs are already anticlimactic and drawn out.
another reason why zero build is superior
I know I'm just another comment but I just wanna say that your videos are really entertaining❤
Pov: ur running out of reisshub videos to watch so ur just rewatching them.
We could of made flying cars, invented immortality and invented time travel except this is what we’re doing…
You know if a new reisshub video comes out I'm stopping everything I'm doing and watching it
Smile on my face every time i se a resihrubs video
There's an easy solution to this. You have not one but two randomly moving areas which slowly converge. One is the normal 'Safe from the Storm' circle which starts big and goes smaller, moving around as it shrinks. The other, the new one is a different colour - say blue and it's called something else like 'Null Zone' and it prevents any kind of healing if a players is within. It starts small and as the 'Safe Circle' gets smaller and moves the No Healing 'Null Zone' gets bigger and moves around. At the end game you end up with nobody able to heal and everyone taking storm damage so it would encourage people to fight.
