It's important to note that it is not necessary to correctly scramble the megaminx in WCA events, as stated in the regulation:
4g) After scrambling a puzzle, the scrambler must verify that the puzzle is scrambled correctly. If the puzzle state is wrong, the scrambler must correct it (e.g. by solving the puzzle and applying the scramble sequence again).
4g1) Exception: For the 6x6x6 Cube, 7x7x7 Cube, and Megaminx, it is not necessary to correct the puzzle state, at the discretion of the WCA Delegate.

For the megaminx, why must it be a double move? Why cant there be a single move (like r+)?

It seems like it would just mix up the cube faster to do 2 moves rather than 1, and there's theoretically no problems with making every move a double move, so they just do it for simplicity.

Oh I had this clock as a kid and totally forgot about it. I didn't know it was a Rubik's product. I remember having it solved a few times by fiddling around with it. But it was always pretty hard to solve it
For clock, is there a notation for putting the UL and DR pins up (or UR and DL) and turn, say 5 clockwise?

I dont have a sq1 and im wondering if the moves on top and bottom layer click into place or is it obvious when you do a 2 move on the top layer and when you need to stop turning? And also which sq1 would you recommend? Thank you in advance.
There is no click, you have to just look and see how far you’re turning it.

Every possible pin that can be moved is written down, so it's just a placeholder if there is no move.

I'm here at the 1-year anniversary of this video!
My Square-1 has the big middle pieces setup differently. If I hold the cube with red front and yellow top, the small part of the slice is on the front, not the back. I have the YJ MGC Square-1.
May be late but try it with white top red front

At 2:05 you say "and usually yellow happens to be on top." Is a puzzle wca legal if white is on top if I am holding red in front? My x man volt has the correct color scheme, but if you face the red with the shorter middle piece to the left, then white is on top, yellow on bottom, blue right, green left, and orange back. Please let me know because I am confused, and I have a competition coming up really soon. Thanks!!
Yeah, the color scheme is backwards on most of my square-1’s too. The top color doesn’t matter as long as red is in the front.

If you have something like D4- for clock, does it matter which clock on the bottom you turn?
As long as two of the wheels have the same effect on the puzzle, then yeah, it doesn’t matter.

I allways scramble my Megaminx myself, making it sure there are no matching pieces from start. I tried this scramble notation and made my PB right away. No good.
why did you start at UR0+ and not DR4+?

Because it is random. It could start with UR0+.

The scramble on my timer for clock goes like this: (Uddd, 2,-3) (dUdU, 1, -3) etc.
the 4 letters represents the pegs, the first U/D is UL, the second U/D is UR, the third U/D is DL and the last U/D is DR. The number after it is the clock that's supposed to be rotated, if it's 1 then you rotate UL, if it's 2 you rotate UR and so on, the last number is how many times there supposed to be rotated, this is already explained in the video, positive numbers clockwise and negs counterclockwise
Forgot to mention that U stands for Up and D is for Down

ok i think i know what 0 moves on a clock is. Look at the scramble. It goes UR DR DL UL and then no more double moves. If there was no 0 move there would only be 3 out of 4 double pins.
how do you hold a pyraminx at the start?
Yellow (or lightest) on bottom, green (or darkest) on front.

Just watch any basic 3x3 tutorial.
select randomly any of the states (except for one move away from solved, or the fully solved state) and output the inverse of the optimal solution to the state
