    @The Duke of Cubes Thank you so much for making this video! I got my first clock 4 days before my first competition. I was nervous about competing in clock because of how little time I had to practice. After lots of practice and multiple times watching this video, I was able to bring my average down from 1:22.00 (My first solve) to an 11.97, wich I got at the competition. because of your video, I was able to improve an incredible 70.03 seconds. Thanks so much!

    This is a great tutorial. I just learnt Clock about 10 days ago. I took 25 minutes the first time, then down to a few minutes once I had a method. Then 30s once I practised a bit. Now with your tips in just a few days I'm averaging around 17 seconds and keep improving!

    • @TheDukeofCubes
      @TheDukeofCubes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I found once you have the general concepts down then a lot just comes from practice. Especially your look ahead and knowing a good starting point etc. I’ve never looked at no flip and it looks a little too complex for me. You can comfortably get sub 10 with a normal method though.

    I average 11 seconds, the notion that you should always use the same pin order is ridiculous. Adapting to scrambles where a more optimal solution is available is how you get faster. If there’s nothing special, then yes, I have a default pin order that I go to. But practicing situations where the fastest solution isn’t the default solution inherently avoids the pauses you describe by going in a different order.

    • @TheDukeofCubes
      @TheDukeofCubes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually ended up averaging around 8 seconds with this method. I’m not sure if you listened properly or watched the full video, but it describes how to get pin/dial skips by using different sides, orientation and rotation starting points along with knowing the first move after the flip. Keeping the same pin order means one less thing to mix up as this becomes completely natural like a reflex rather than trying to change the order each solve.

    • @EthanCowlbeck
      @EthanCowlbeck 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheDukeofCubes If you use inspection to plan your order though, there’s no reason it wouldn’t be just as fast.
      Didn’t know you were 8 seconds, video and description both say 12.57

    • @TheDukeofCubes
      @TheDukeofCubes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EthanCowlbeck technically the same yes. But say you had 2 dials matching, and it would change your pin order to get the skip etc. The way I do it is alter the clock starting position so those dials are rotated to my default starting position so my pin order stays the same but I still get the best starting point without worrying about a new pin order. I’ll instead just remember which way ‘12 o clock’ point as to have the arrow aligned correctly.

    • @EthanCowlbeck
      @EthanCowlbeck 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheDukeofCubes I agree, being able to solve from any angle is important. Look at the example at 2:58. I would solve that with noon pointing up, DR, UL UR, and with 2 moves you’re already flipped onto the next side. Your method accounts for the first skip, but not ones that follow

    • @TheDukeofCubes
      @TheDukeofCubes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EthanCowlbeck your DR start is exactly the same as my UR start with the rotation, so in reality that makes no difference as they are the same move except I haven’t had to thing about my ‘different’ pin order as I’ve adjusted the starting position to account for the skip rather than adjust my pin order.

Then the tag section under TH-cam after you upload it etc. It’s not to bad to find now. But sometimes when I search is also has other irrelevant vids in the list due to their tags and having 100k views etc.
