    Honestly I can't even really fault Harper for thinking 100% about scoring on that play. Most young players today are taught not to overthink the play and to trust their instincts to lead to more efficient results but this was just a situation where Harper had to be thinking score and the Braves just pulled off an amazing play.

      45% catch probability according to statcast. 100% agree with Bryce's decision to go, essentially its an above 50% chance that you score, the game is tied, and the go-ahead run is on second with one out; if you could flip that coin every time, you would.

      People can say whatever they want, but anyone who watches a lot of Braves games knows Riley is an excellent defender. He isn’t the fastest guy out there, but he has good range, good positioning, a great arm, and can come in on a ball down the baseline super well. Monumental screw up by Harper. You stop at 2nd. If the ball is off the wall, you have a chance to score if Acuña doesn’t field it clean. Worst case, Harris catches it, you easily make it back to 1st, you’re on 1st with 2 outs and still alive. 2nd best case: the ball falls, Acuña fields clean, and you’re 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Sac fly ties. Hit, you go ahead. Best case: standing on 2nd, ball falls, Acuña doesn’t catch it clean, Harper scores, runner on 2nd with one out. Terrible gamble on his part.

      There is little 'wherewithal' needed to keep screaming 'one' in that situation. In fact I guarantee everyone on the ballpark with the play in front of them was screaming it. Including Albies who had turned back to see Harper in trouble after the catch ( 04:53 ).
      As far as getting into back-up position... Riley even said he was in that position because he was trying to get their attention to throw to first.

    This game was the reason I watch baseball. Even though I didn't want the Braves to win, I was screaming and cheering. They totally owned the last two innings, proving why they are the best team in the NL.

    • @ed-bk9pl
      @ed-bk9pl 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the braves definitely owned those last two innings for sure, but does that prove they're the best team in the NL? phils shut them out for 15 innings straight and braves just barely got the win in game 2. now they have to go back to philly for two games against the current national league champions. i think after the phillies handle business for the second year in a row, they'll finally be considered the best NL team and we can finally stop overreacting to historic regular season numbers and remember that they don't matter in the slightest come playoff time.

    • @kristopherwilson506
      @kristopherwilson506 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ed-bk9plthe Phillies “stole” game 1 by running out their 3rd starter against one of our so-called aces and winning. The Braves “stole” game 2 bc we were losing for 7 full innings before coming out on top. These teams are a lot closer than people give them credit for and the rivalry is real but this isn’t the Phillies team from last year, much like this isn’t the same Braves team from last year. You’re right in that the regular season doesn’t matter come playoffs, but they’re not here for no reason. Braves in 5

    • @whitedeion598
      @whitedeion598 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ed-bk9pl the regular season clearly shows which team is the best, regardless of what happens in the postseason. The braves weren't the best team by a long shot in 21, just like the Phillies were nowhere near the best team in the NL last year.

      @JeffCirillo nah he didn't lose track of the outs, he made an understandable gamble to try and tie the game and paid for it by just barely not making it back to the base. not the best ending i've seen, but definitely is up there. especially because it represents the tying game in the series in the nlds for the braves. don't be such a cynic

    Arcia and albies both saw where Harper was and they both pointed to first..the entire infield knew where Harper was..Harris just instinctually threw it in and it really worked out nicely..Riley hits the home run to take the lead, the only lead they’ve had in 17 innings of the postseason and then he makes the scoop and throw to end the game..that’s a night he will always remember
