I got my A&P and FCC licenses 8 years ago and it was pretty difficult to get my foot in the door at Delta. I applied 16 times until I was finally called for an interview and was hired on 7 1/2 years ago. Now, I work in the PW2000 engine shop and start international line maintenance in ATL in a couple of weeks. I am 41 now and it would have been awesome to have done this 15 or 20 years ago. It is great that Delta is doing an internship program to hire new mechanics. We have an aging workforce and there is going to be a shortage of mechanics in the next 5-10 years. Thanks for the video!

Hello IDontHaveAVideo, I just applied for TOC AMT at Delta. Is this an entry level position? I would really love to work for Delta as an AMT. Thanks.

I have been at United for 3 1/2 years at KLAX. Got hired right of A & P school at age 45. Make sure you go to a community college, though. With a fee waiver you can in essence attend for free, just pay for books and parking. That still will cost you almost 1,000 dollars over the two years, but it is well worth it. no need to spend 25, 30 or 35k..that just seems silly

@D B Yes, I work with some guys in their 50s that have been hired in the last few years.

@D B Oh man, we have guys that are armless, and some are legless. I’ve even heard of a couple headless guys walking around the hangar.

I went to Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in the 70s. Top notch and the best thing I ever did.
