- In this video I compare a hack that I made Banjo-Kazooie in Super Mario 64 to Super Mario 64
This is a hack I have been working on with banjos backpack I would like to make it complete one day with all 120 jiggies/stars and all the levels.

How to play Demo
1. Obtain a U.S. Rom file of banko-kazooie
2. Download patch listed below
3. Download Xdelta patcher
4. open Xdelta patcher and select the clean Banjo kazooie Rom and then the patch.
5. Open the rom on a n64 emulator and make sure it is using 8mb of ram not 4mb

I took a year break from the project but because of recent events I want to start working on it again. I probably have another 100 hours of work at least so it is going to take at least 3 months to finish. I am also thinking of releasing the beta shown in this video for feedback i'm not sure yet tho.
Also any advice on ideas for stars or jinjo locations in levels would be apperciated as well.
This hack runs on console all footage was taken by an everdrive 64

@sandalssuck It's really not that bad. The agility and moveset Mario had in 64 was amazing and let you get to one corner of the map to the other in seconds. Plus some levels changed depending on what star you selected, so it was kind of a requirement to kick the player out at some point.

I could imagine the rage someone would feel having to beat Grunty 3 times with that long battle and long cutscene. This will definitely be a nightmare for speedrunners lol
I just had traumatizing flashbacks. Recently I figured I'd try to 100% Banjo-Kazooie within 24 hours, and I kinda did it... But when I got to Grunty, I died while trying to activate the Jinjonator and when I retried there was a glitch where one of the Jinjo statues were just not accepting eggs. I tried a few times hoping it would fix itself, but I just had to give up.

My suggestion would be maybe to have the whomps (thwomps?) replaced with the tombstone enemies from Mad Monster Mansion since they are similar in shape and require them to fall over to die. Outside of that, I see a game cross-over with a lot of potential. Keep up the good work.

Banjos version looks like it needs to be harder tbh. Theres a lot of openness to it where it doesnt involve obstacles or strategy. That's the only complaint besides that it looks good.

Nintendo should do stuff like this. Same level, some changes, dual pack, different games / characters n move set. kind of like pokemon double versions
Ive seen the bomb omb clip in battlefield so many times now I dont even remember how you normally get the star and this video isnt helping
You have to ground pound the chain chomp post to let it out and it destroys the gate.
@@Fironnathedarkelf False, you have to have to acumulate enough speed to break through the wall without being stopped. You can do that, with a lot of A presses in the lever with the red coin, or you can Go for a parallel universe while having your speed to avoid some a presses.
Alternative, a more easy solution is to glitch yourself with a bomb through the wall, while gaining speed, droping it in the ground to avoid A presses.

Guys, I figured out how to get this to work. DON'T patch Banjo-Kazooie.z64... instead download Banjo-Kazooie.v64 Yes, the .v64 makes all the difference.
Wish this was explained in the description. I was banging my head against a wall, until I downloaded the .v64 version of Banjo-Kazooie [U], patched it, and presto it works! Impressive hack! Can't wait to see more of it!!!!!
Quick question: Why do Super Mario 64 Mods always have it to where you can see black empty space behind the walls? Is there a way for people to fix that? Not sure if I worded that correctly but it was just something I've always wondered about.

Isn't it more of bringing 3D assets (maps, flowers, portraits, etc.) of SM64 to BK (instead of BK systems to SM64; which would be really incredible, even though this is already f* incredible in itself) ?

Different materials. I tried putting them into A hat in time, and they look even more different there.
Yes and the lighting can be very different
Yeah if you download one game into another without downloading everything but course info and textures or something the game will try to recreate it but it dorsn't have the same entities and textures so it does its best to recreate
AKA like example:
You put bob omb battlefield into a sonic game it doesn't have those game textures and entities obviously so it uses the closest thing like:
Pink bob omb = omachao
Or something like that or you have to set it up

@@2frikinbeast Mario 'canon' is always incredibly loose, but since Donkey Kong shares a universe with Mario characters, Banjo's inclusion in Diddy Kong Racing would indicate them all being connected in some way.

For everyone complaining about Mario being kicked of the level after collecting the Power Star, that's probably because, in general, the missions were very short and easy to be completed. Mario didn't had to collect as many items as Banjo-Kazooie and he didn't have to learn his moves as either, what saves a lot of time
Banjo 64 looks like a regular Banjo game tbh
they could've done a better job fixing the original geometry from SM64
1)Lots of Z fighting because mario 64 has a special texture mode that prevents that.
2)Backwards culling on stuff like the fences is not disabled so they render only from one side.
3)all of vertex colors are gone so all textures just blend together without any shading at all.

Or PC. Even though I disagree with emulators I don't discourage the use of them to others, I simply refuse to use emulators. To each his (or her) own as I always say.
