Wow! I did not expect this mic to be so expensive!😂 I do see/hear why it does cost more because it really does hold its own compared to E906. When I get my recording game up to your level Shane , I’ll pick one of these up! Cheers!🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

Cheers! It's expensive, but not as bad as mics like the Royer 121 (great mic but way more). This is a fantastic mic and has such a full-bodied sound about it. The tones on the live recording were some of the best I've recorded in a long time.

Great review Shane. Just got around to watching it now. I really like the warmth that the ribbon mic added. But to be honest I actually enjoyed the clarity of the Sennheiser the best, especially when using gain/overdrive. Cheers.

Me too. The Sennheiser is a killer mic :)

Ripper video Shane. Great mics. Both are great and I liked the E906, just me.

I generally like to blend a SM57 with a e906 and my direct signal from my Captor X through XLR. But I have not tried mixing a ribbon with it. So I might have to try adding that to my setup.

How is this mic compared to the KU5?

Mic's are Mic's. I get doing reviews on them but they are too unique to review in my opinion. I digged the warmth and tone of t he ribbon it sounded great. But with mics it's all about the environment and the engineers. I don't know, I can just get my strat and play it, it's all the mics and effects that send me batty really 🤣

It's all subjective stuff and anyone with a good tone can make most mics work. That said, fans of Ribbon mics will love the fact you can use this as the primary mic over having to dual mic all of the time.

In case the voiceover/talking is that mic: sounds great.

Thanks mate. It's a wonderful voice mic, for sure. It did a great job and it was completely EQ free in post production.

$1700?? computer says no. Sennheiser e906 is $260. A comparison wth some of the new DI Cab Sim boxes like Torpedo Captor etc would be interesting. Great video thanks

I am glad you mentioned the figure-8 near the end because it was driving me crazy! I went to their website and there, none of the first few pages on that model could I find a polar response diagram. I was fairly certain that it's actually a feature of the diaphragm design of the ribbon that you inevitably end up with a figure 8. somewhere in my uni courses I seem to recalled it maybe? anyway thanks & cheers

@@doctorscoot If you scoot (pun intended) down to the specifications there's a PDF download tab. it's really easy to miss but it's where I pulled the info about the specs from.

A kid who cares nothing about signal flow because they are so dependent on their $2000 pedal in which they only use three patch sounds wouldn’t appreciate this video
