The Vector W8 was hands down THE coolest and wildest car of the time. I remember watching the story play out over many, many years. Jerry was such an interesting guy, similar to Elon Musk today, and you just couldn't help but rooting for him and hoping he would prevail, despite the outrageous odds. Like Carroll Shelby, Jerry painted the same car in different colors to make it appear he had more prototypes built than he actually had, and he probably made more money from renting the car out for advertisements than he did from selling cars. Great video John, you have to have one of the coolest jobs in the world, and keep doing what you do!
I remember reading a magazine article about the car (red one). There was a pic of a chassis sat on a wooden workbench. Unbelievably beautiful car, I was obsessed with it.
John Temerian and his team at Curated are the best. Not only are they finding cool cars but they are providing the history of the cars that they are purchasing for their clients. The Vector W8 is one of the coolest cars from 1990's.
In the early 1980's, my buddy and I went to the Cow Palace auto show (an annual event for us) and saw a huge crowd around the Lambo's as expected. We went on and saw This badass looking car that neither of us had seen before. No car Car Models and little fanfare, just a dude standing there. I figured it was a kit-car or something, cuz there was no one around. I walked up and asked."what is this thing, it looks awesome". The guy introduced himself and his car, the Vector. The dude gave us a full tour from front to back. I was blown away by the dude's knowledge, he was really kool. He even let me sit in it. .Fully impressed by the fact that every piece of that car was made in America, I shook his hand and thanked him for the tour... Reading a little more on the way out, it dawned on me... "Wait a minute, you're the guy!" This dude was Gerald Weirgart. He was so passionate about this car, we could feel it. He took like, 20 minutes with us (a couple of 20 year old gearheads) just to show us what Vector was all about. He told me that this was his personal car. I have no doubt that the car in this video is the same one. RIP Gerald, a true American visionary...
Met him in the late 80's. Long Beach Auto Show, word was a Vector was going to be on display which was very rare, so a friend of mine and I went to the show for primarily the purpose of seeing the Vector. It was close to the entrance to the convention hall as I remember. It was all roped off and had all its doors and hatches closed and there were a small handful of goons guarding the car. We recognize Jerry and dont let on that we know its him and just start talking up the car and acting like nerdy fans (which we were) and we asked if they would open it up so we could get better look at the interior and engine. He let us in and opened it up for us and let us sit in the car. A lot of history is scrubbed about him barricading himself in the office like that but I remember it, and I admired him for it. Nice guy.
Thank you so much for documenting the history of this car! I had a chance to see a Vector W8 in 1990, possibly this very car because it was black on black. They were touring the car around the country to promote it at the time. A high school friend of mine and I found out that it would be at an Acura dealership in my hometown for one evening. We begged our parents to drive us there to go see it. Sitting in the middle of the dealership showroom it looked like a spacecraft. I was able to sit in the car for a few minutes and I remember the transmission handle on the left side being one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Along with that dash display which looked like 1980s military avionics. There’s a 10 disc cd changer on the passenger side which dates it a little bit. To this day it’s the most amazing automotive experience I’ve ever had. They gave us signed posters for the car with Gerald Wiegert’s signature. I still have it to this day.
Right up there with the EB110 and Countach as one of the greatest supercars ever...maybe the best looking. Not only when it came out (It was jam-dropping in the era, I remember it well!), but still today! STUNNING!
I was involved with the team of people who ‘bought’ Vector in the mid/late 90’s. It’s a shame that seemingly NOBODY took the potential of that company seriously.
Im still searching for any video proof that the car can perform anywhere near their claims, every footage is just a slow ride at most 50 looking. Until it’s proved otherwise these will just be moving art projects. He should have let the testers do it all when the chance was there, instead of permanently getting the reputation as a fake braggart.
what it's going to take is a collector with the balls (and $$$) to take a W8, restore it to and run it flat-out. That's the closest we'll ever get. Using gear ratio and power/weight ratios is just supposition. Missing facts aside: it was and still is a captivating car. The idea behind it. The design of it... it creates a powerful emotional response in collectors of American muscle...errr now we call them performance cars. @@Journey_to_who_knows
You guys are becoming quite the automotive historians. Fitting car to be rolled into curated after the Lotec. Those early vectors are the real deal, apparently much better built than the latter, as the focus was on incorporating aeronautical engineering. I used to have a poster of a latter era vector, but in hindsight this is the best one to aspire to. It's like an OCD Countach. Keep up the good work!
I remember seeing W8 #007 (also in black) in a museum in germany. That was in 2001. I had never heard of the car & company and I was blown away by it. Between all the great supercars in the museum, it really stuck out. So sad about Jerry Wiegert's passing. At the same time it is great to see that his creations are still out there being treasured and drive. Every time I see a Vector video like this... Just makes me smile. I don't think I would be the tech-nut I am today. Wouldn't fly planes, wouldn't be into exotic cars either if it wasn't for this car. Thanks for the memories Jerry, and thanks for the video @curatedTV
I remember a somewhat big newspaper went around the country, interviewing Vector owners on the company's anniversary. The owners they met said the car was actually quite reliable and they would never let their beloved cars go. I wish some big brand would buy the rights and bring this back into production. May be too late as more countries are hellbent on banning gasoline powered engines just to look politically correct.
I had the cover from a magazine once (lost it unfortunately). It was the one with a silver W2 in racing hubcaps and a naked blonde standing behind it. You could see her boobs JUST sticking out above the car. Reminds me of those racy ads of sports cars from the 1950s and 60s.
I met Gerald at Car's & Coffee in Irvine Ca on several occasions around 2012 to 2014. Back then he would bring either a light purple or a teal green W8 to the show. Gerald was very approachable and would answer any questions regarding his creations. For the most part many at the show didn't know what the Vector was or the history of the car, that's understandable when the best of the best would show up on any given Saturday morning. Gerald and the Vector were both a bit ahead of their time. RIP Gerald RIP...
I remember seeing one of these at the Toy Store in Ft Lauderdale during the early 90's. Unfortunately I was never brave enough to go inside and really look at this amazing vehicle. Always one of my favorite cars. I look forward to hearing the rest of this story. Thanks.
The Auto Toy Store had Andre Agassi´s W8 chassis 005 for sale, chassis 006 and possibly 017 as ell, without the important documents though. You can still find the Dupont Registry magazines from the late 90s with the black W8s they had for sale
John, I really do think you and Iain Tyrell need to have a chat/visit about Lambos and Vectors. The family had him out to California to inventory what remains from the estate. I just feel like you two need to be in the same universe. Lol. Another great episode by the way! Such a cool car!
The W8 has to be the most 80's looking supercar inside and out, I remember seeing it in the '93 movie Rising Sun & being blown away by it's looks. Funny that Lambo owned this last example to just then go to provide the mechanicals for the M12 that followed. That was a cool restyling, similar to the Pantera facelift of the 1990's. Congratulations on picking up such a piece of automotive history!
@Curated When I was in Miami a few days ago, I went to visit their facilities and I was surprised to see in person those spectacular pieces of automotive collection, and there was also the Vector W8. I thank you for leaving these marvels on display to the delight of many of those who love these machines. Congratulations
I remember watching John on VinWiki, where he said that he wanted CURATED to be more like an art house, where they document the cars history and track it forevermore. At the time, I didn’t think much of it- but it shows that John is a man of his word. It’s amazing to see what the CURATED team has created of it. Good wishes to you all
Outrageous boxy wedge shape. Turbos. Louvered rear windows. Wrap-around light bar taillights. Pop up (down) headlights, computer screens everywhere. There is no other car that’s more “80s” than a Vector W8. I’d love to drive one alongside Miami Beach blasting Hall and Oates and Thriller for the full nostalgia.
Autoweek did a good job documenting the saga as it happened. I remember it read like the script to a mini series. The “Miami Vice” era was pretty crazy.
One of the things that blew me away the most was that the car was titled in a 3,000 person town in Eastern KY, but it also lists Florida at the same time. Nothing much there other than a speaker company called Eminence, who is one of the biggest speaker suppliers in the world. Wonder if a family member of the owner of that company had the car at the time?
That's not correct. Eminence isn't anywhere near Eastern Kentucky. It's North-West about 35 minutes from Louisville. It's basically a rural suburb of Shelbyville. I go bourbon hunting there ALOT! The majority of people who live there work in Shelbyville, or Louisville.
Thanks so much John...I've been a big fan of the Vector since it launched decades ago, in fact I still have the R&T issue with it on the cover. What a thrill it must be to sit in it, it's really exciting to me to see this special car reemerge. I'll take all the Vector content you can make!
I was a fan of the Vector from the get go and have followed the saga somewhat over the years and even today the design and tech of the car is advanced and it is one of the most misunderstood cars from that era and you bringing this one back to life puts some of the mystery to bed for sure. Only 17 of them and I would love to see it with a more modern powertrain in it. I know they were insanely fast for the time and had some amazing technology kind of like the Hennesy F5 of today. Cool episode.
I met Gerald Wiegert at the NY Auto Show and he personally handed me his business card which I still have to this day.I also have the spec sheet they were handing out during the show. I visited Curated earlier this year and while I saw an amazing collection of vintage supercars… I would have loved to see a W8 in person. *** I also invested in Vector Aeromotive, I have at least 2 annual reports which are very nice and once called the company and they kindly sent me a free promotional VHS with a segment they did on a tech show I cannot remember at the moment.
I was waiting for this video ever since John began hinting at it. I actually saw this very car at a Jacksonville Infinity Dealership back in the mid 90s. I found out later about how it was (allegedly) being moved around/hidden between dealerships in the area. It was probably the most surreal automotive experience I've ever had. The car was just sitting there. Nobody around it. Nobody came out while I walked around it and drooled. One of the coolest days. Glad John is going to get it refreshed and off to a good home.
I went down the vector rabbit hole last year. Watched every TH-cam video read a bunch of articles. I can’t get enough. Please john give us more info asap on this car.
Sometime in the mid 1990's, my dad had a connection through business and was able to take me (roughly 10 years old) on an all access, behind the scenes type of tour of Automobili Lamborghini in Jacksonville. We got to go everywhere inside the building, including into the back storage area where there was a white LM002. Just beyond the LM002 was this black Vector W8 and next to it was a semi covered yellow supercar that had the curves of a M12. I've always wondered what car it was and it's clearly that yellow W12 in the video. Interesting that they were in the back and we were kind of not supposed to know about the Vector's being there. Great video and content as always, cheers!
My college roommate had a job at a crash testing lab close to Pomona CA. He spent weeks doing testing on two Vector W8's. At least one concluded with frontal impact with the dummies inside.Everything in the interiors of the cars they did crash testing on was whitewashed to show contact with the dummies. He ended up with the seats after the testing was complete. He promptly installed them in his 1978 Celica. They had specs of the whitewash on them forever, but they were nice. Easily worth more than his old Celica. The Vector was all he talked about for weeks.
But did it pass crash testing? This is the only American "supercar" to ever even attempt crash testing. Saleen S7, Mosler, Ford F40, Hennessey, Tuatara, none of these have ever attempted a crash test.
@captain_context9991 I don't think it was a pass/fail situation but a rating. They did have a situation with Yugo that required different restraint points.
@@BLD426 Typically they wipe out 20 normal cars to pass a crash test. In the case of million-dollar rare cars, they can do as few as 8 or even less. But only because they can usually handle more than one test. Its kinda crucial to determine whether or not they actually did it or not.
Remember seeing these when I was younger living in Florida. Never truly cared out them as I figured they were like the Mosler (another Florida-based car, lol) , but now I want to see the history and the documentary. I'm so mad I didn't come to your showroom when I was in Miami recently.
In the W12 photos that look like they're on a runway, I think those were actually taken in Green Cove Springs (just south of Jacksonville) I've heard that they had a proving grounds there in the W12 development era. Been awhile since I've heard anything of it but the last I remember it was still sitting empty.
It looks more like the test track they had setup at the airport at Reynolds Industrial Park. I few years back they had drifting and drag racing in the same area as the pictures.
I grew up with two posters on my wall, a black Countach and a red Vector. Amazing cars, something to dream about. Now as a grown man I’m in to Saab, and looking at you looking at the Vectors photographed in Jacksonville for some reason you had a few unicorns of the last model of Saab 9-5 in the background. So cool, my childhood dreams and my passion at the moment in the same clip! Amazing story by the way👍
One of my all time favorites. The vector w2 was one of the cars that got me into cars back when i was a kid in the mid 80's. I've been in love with the cars and fascinated by the company ever since. Its a shame he never fully realized his vision with the avtech wx3, it would have been epic.
We Arw Curated is hands down THE BEST AUTOMOTIVE channel, from the awesome locations, history, stories to the host and the creative team!! I absolutely love Yall keep it up
nice, I worked with an embezzler that had two m12's. (PDK duder ended up going to feddy prison for 7 or so years, penny stock fraudster) the yellow one and the stars and stripes one. they may still be kicking around Cincinnati's car collector's garage's. I dunno I left that vortex in 06. LOL
funny you mention these cars! I saw them at Jeff's Motorcars in Canton, OH, back in early 2012. They sold them a long time ago but I always wondered about the story
I remember that Vector. So far ahead of it's time, there was nothing like it. Even today, it has modern written all over it. Don't ever believe everything you read on Wikipedia. Do your own research. Use it only as a guide. Great video!
There was this small car dealership on US1 when I was about 16. There was a red Vector W8 there in the back. I would always stop into to see it when my friends and I would go fishing, it is an amazing memory and such a cool car. Love the content seriously!!!! One of the best channels on TH-cam hands down 💪🏻
Back in 1992 I spent a couple of days in the company of 3 Vectors. We were visiting from England, holidaying in California & Nevada and were staying in the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley. How surprised were we to see three cars all together undergoing heat soak testing (where better than Death Valley). There was a black one which we only saw for a few seconds, a red W8 and a silver WX3. John, Vector guy I spoke to used to work for Lola back in the day. He described the Vector as the only supercar with an airbag - no idea why I remembered that but there you are. Still have photos to this day including both the red & silver cars parked side by side at Bad Water.
Wow love it, great video.. Vector was in Green Cove Springs I was lucky enough to get a tour of their assembly plant. They had a air port at Reynolds Industrial Park. This was where their personal race track was. This is where the picture in this video was taken. Being 19 years old and the opportunity to work on one was amazing.
When I was in high school…we were driving next to a silver vector in south Scottsdale…..by Los Arcos Mall….we ALL freaked out seeing it in the wild. The driver was super cool and gave us a thumbs up and a wave. Wow…I didn’t know there was only 19 built!
Very nice! I had a tech/spec poster of the Vector W8 hanging on my bedroom wall, when I was a teenager, back in the 80's. The Vector poster was right next to the infamous poster of Heather Thomas in a pink bikini. Every male of a certain age knows the poster I am talking about...lol. All of my friends wanted a Lamborghini Countach back then, but I wanted a Vector. 😊
I met Jerry and his stunning Vector car in person many years ago at the 1989 WORLD OF WHEELS SHOW in Miami at the Coconut Grove exhibition center. I have a publication book of exotic cars that featured an array of photos of the infamous Vector W2 which Mr. Wiegert personally autographed for me, that I still have and cherish to this day. I'm lucky to have taken a few photos of the car which could be the "actual personal car" of which he owned that ironically is featured in this video. Wow!!! I also have the VHS cassette tape he was selling at the event that features the Vectors build and features when he exhibited the car. I remember reading of his passing a couple years ago and was saddened greatly of an innovative pioneer of such an exotic car that was way ahead of it's time that put the standard of exotic car construction materials on the map to this day. I miss him to this day. Lamborghini's redesign of Vector M12 are not true to Jerry's design and engineering philosophy. Actually, they are embarrassing. The true Vectors are W-2,W-8, and redesigned Avtech WX-3 and concept roadster twin turbo's. Incredible cars.
When Doug Demuro did his vid that was cool but this is next level .telling the story of the company etc . .can't wait to see more , hopefully you can show some service work on that w8 idk but it's so badass
Thanks for telling the story with actual research and facts. I have heard first-hand accounts of this car's saga, and I'm glad the true history is coming to light!
Amazing video! Stopped by Curated in March. That purple Vector M12 at 16:26 is at our shop right now in Tampa. Cool to see some old footage of it assuming that’s the same car
two more M12s in Tampa and St Petersburg (the red 004 and the silver 008 (formerly black)) The two M12s in the video are the yellow 1996 Detroit Auto Show chassis 002 and black chassis 003. The purple M12 is chassis 005.
Thank you for all your extremely hard work and not to mention the passion you have for these beautiful cars John Temerian, you're a superstar in my book. You're tremendously knowledgeable on all 80's and 90's supercars that many of us grew up lusting after, I simply wanted to compliment you on your channel and you're extreme humility even though you're at the top of your game you manage to stay humble and that says a lot about a person. God bless you for all of the amazing content you provide for us enthusiasts and for the person that you are, plus you dress super cool with great sneakers, you rock my friend, from one coast to another, from San Diego Ca., keep on uploading your content and God bless!!!
The fact that this still runs shows that he was serious about making a RELIABLE super car. The quality was on a level Ferrari and the japanese wouldn't dream of. When a big car magazine tested it in the 1980s, they couldn't believe the quality invested in construction everywhere from the door panels to everything in the engine bay. The person who wrote the article saw one chassis under construction and pointed out that the bolt holes were perfectly drilled. There was no scrap metal sticking up and the holes were aligned as if done by a robotic arm but Vector Aeromotive had no robots to assist with construction! Unbelievable. I would still love to have a Vector. The founder would be happy to know some out there still instantly recognize and love his dream car as much as he did. R.I.P. Gerald Wiegert.
One of the most advanced cars of its day, the first hyper car. Such an amazing product. I talked to Jerry once. Such a great conversation. I'd love to own one of these one day.
Absolutely incredible and fascinating story. I remember thinking those cars were so cool when I was a teenager and early 20s when those cars first came out. That car looks to be in amazing condition for a 30 year old car.
I am a year late on this video - the story, the timeline presentation and camera cinematics are freaking top notch. You guys deserve so many more subs than 106k. I’m subbing and I hope more people will to.
He apologizes for not wearing a seat belt and then talks on his cell phone while driving. Now, about the car . . . ergonomically I think that an average driver of this beautiful machine would have to be in the anthropometric size of 50% and smaller.
What a beauty… in my teen-years i had a poster with a black one. The wildest thing ive ever seen back then. If i remember right, the poster was from a german car magazine named „Auto Bild“ in 92/93 i think.
Everytime I see a Vector I think of Kris Singh. He was the first person that posted about it back when he has Instagram and taught me all about it with his posts.
The Vector W8 was a crazy car. From multi-page-spreads in 90s magazines, hailing it as the next killer supercar, to the design and the unconventional ideas involved in its creation. I myself got an invitation from the Auto Technik Museum Sinsheim in Germany when they had a dark blue W8 on exhibit (iirc back then on a UK registration). They offered to open the inside and let me get a close look to take pictures - normally cars in that section of the museum were roped off at that time. Sadly, when I wanted to go again years later, I learned that it was sold at an auction and iirc now resides in Switzerland. Years before I actually modeled a W8 for Need For Speed 3 on PC - yes, the passion for this car was running wild. Crazy to think that at that point these cars were routinely going for around 100.000$ on auctions. Nowadays... I dare not think about what they are worth. And what replacing parts would cost, how would one eve go about replacing a windshield that was custom made for this vehicle? Cars are made to be driven, and the Vector was made to be driven hard, but you'd be in constant fear of rendering in inoperable.
Great Story, and I’m glad that the car’s history is cleared !! What a Car. W8 was really ahead of its time. The interior of the car, was meant to look like a fighters jet cockpit. What a car !!👍
Good call on the seatbelt my friend. I used to not wear mine. I happened to put mine on one day on the interstate. Less than 2 miles later we came to a standstill on the interstate and we’re rear ended by a semi going 30 miles an hour. Probably saved my life.
19:00 I remember seeing the WX-3 prototype at an RM Auction a few years back in Scottsdale, AZ. It was 1 of 2 Vectors in that auction. Super cool to see in the flesh!
In my eyes, the Vector W8 Twin Turbo is the ONLY automobile that is equal to in terms of drop dead gorgeous looks and period styling as the iconic Lamborghini Countach. Imagine owning both.
I've loved the Vector W8, ever since it came out. I would totally get lost in doing the research for any car, especially these very special ones. I do this for my job (in the pharma industry) where everything is referenced with as much information as you can get. Would love to join your team and help build the stories of these incredible cars. TY John and Team.
I am Big Fan of Vector Cars. I do own a Original Vector Brochure, I got this in the 90s at the Geneva Auto Show myself. Love to see more from these Cars. Greetings Sara
We used to go look in the windows of the corp building in Jax. It was over the top cool, only was occupied for a short time in the early 90's.. The stuff in that showroom would have blown u away!!
I remember seeing a Vector W8 at an Auto Expo in the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island in the early 90’s. I knew that car was special as a kid. I never realized it was one on 17 worldwide though. Very interesting to hear about the Lamborghini connection. This is among some of the ultra rare cars I was able to experience in person. At 15 years old I was given the opportunity to visit ESPERA Sabarro School of Design in Switzerland for a private after hours tour. Where I saw nearly a dozen BMW M1’s, the ones that were co developed with Lambo before they pulled out of the project with BMW. There were complete M1’s, Procar Competition cars and several bodies in white. Then there were the one off Sbarro concepts like the Monster G, a Kevlar bodied off-roader with Boeing 747 wheels. Or the wedge shaped Challenger. They also had 2 rear engined hot hatches one with a V12 made from 2 - 6cyl motorcycle engines fused together sitting in the trunk area called the Super 12 and a Super 8 with a Ferrari 308 engine. It was an amazing experience!
The Vector W8 is the coolest and most badass car of all time. This is cooler than the DeLorean for me. The style is insane. There's something about over 500 horsepower combined with a 3 speed automatic torque converter transmission AND 2 turbos on top that just makes me absolutely lust after this car. The combination is so 80s and insane. I LOVE this car. I wish I could drive it.
I am an ex-air crew member with CPAir best car memory - 1985 landed in Amsterdam and took the crew bus to the Marriot downtown, I stood up to stretch and while looking out the rear window of the bus pouring rain I can see this vortex of spray screaming up behind us passing us at 3 times our speed as it flies past I see the profile search after it was a Vector W8
Yes... but literally seconds after talking about safety and setting a good example, he's driving phone in hand down the road. I've seen him do this a lot. It's not good. If safety is what he wants to convey, use the hands free in the car or get a bt headset.
Really cool weird rad car! I was lucky enough to get to detail #003 dark grey one, still to this day one of the rarest cars I’ve worked on!! Good video

Ha! NO - not those guys. I was a consultant to the guys trying to buy the business FROM Megatech. @@alexs1007
But did they even produce a single car that worked? I mean... There were more massive scandals than there were cars.
Felt like much better build quality than the latter vectors!
That's awesome! He certainly was a visionary
So happy to see Jurgen 'Jay Hull' get the credit he deserves. Well done Jurgen and well done we are curated!😊
Wow. The Vector was my dream car. This is the car I had on a poster on my bedroom wall as a kid growing up!
It's a legendary car! Especially with so few made
I had the cover from a magazine once (lost it unfortunately).
I met him there too, when he didnt have the W8 he tooled around in a lowly bMW 3ser
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode... One of my all-time favorite cars. What an amazing history that car has had.
glad you enjoyed it! Definitely a unique story behind this one
this was my favorite of car of the whole Vector production. Im happy to see it again and thrilled to know John is now part of it's history
The history part is bonkers for this channel and I had a deck of cards in the 80s with supercars and this was my fav... Epic video!
Thank you!!
I remember seeing one of these at the Toy Store in Ft Lauderdale during the early 90's. Unfortunately I was never brave enough to go inside and really look at this amazing vehicle. Always one of my favorite cars. I look forward to hearing the rest of this story. Thanks.
Yes! We actually talked a bit about Toy Store with Jay on the phone
The Auto Toy Store had Andre Agassi´s W8 chassis 005 for sale, chassis 006 and possibly 017 as ell, without the important documents though.
You can still find the Dupont Registry magazines from the late 90s with the black W8s they had for sale
@@vectorfilesi have a couple of those DPR issues, the Toy Store had the back cover spreads for months in '95-'97.
I also remember it In Rising sun what a great movie and also in gran turismo 2, such a legendary car back in the day
3:10 Boost set to max! Put's a smile in my heart!!
@Curated When I was in Miami a few days ago, I went to visit their facilities and I was surprised to see in person those spectacular pieces of automotive collection, and there was also the Vector W8. I thank you for leaving these marvels on display to the delight of many of those who love these machines. Congratulations
We're happy you got to stop by!
Fascinating. Thank you, John.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This car requires a Synthwave soundtrack while driving.
Haha absolutely!
I remember watching John on VinWiki, where he said that he wanted CURATED to be more like an art house, where they document the cars history and track it forevermore.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it- but it shows that John is a man of his word.
It’s amazing to see what the CURATED team has created of it.
Good wishes to you all
We're trying! The goal is to make something that we enjoy and that you guys enjoy, and hopefully tell and record some history in the process!
Epitome of the 80s!
Vector W8 was and is the most amazing supercar in the world. America has not produced anything similar after W8's. I love that car.
Very cool! That's a great magazine cover
I was a kid in the 1980’s when the Vector W8 came out. It made the Countach seem tame.
Thanks for tuning in Matt! A crazy story
I love listening to this guy talk about cars all day long thanks for sharing your story's and business
Of everything I'm in shock about, regarding this episode, the working windows is number one. Overall, to me, this is like finding a lost Picasso.
Wow that's incredible! Those are some awesome pieces of history you've got there
I was waiting for this video ever since John began hinting at it. Glad John is going to get it refreshed and off to a good home.
haha wow! that's incredible!
it still had the "Jack Caruso Dodge" dealer plate until recently, the place where it was hidden for years.
Once again John, You and your Team have gone above and beyond what anyone would have ever dreamed of!
Thanks for the kind words Larry!
Great video and content as always, cheers!
the W8 you saw was the exact same chassis 017 in the above video.

Wow that's an awesome memory!
I remember buying a magazine with an article on the Vector W8 when it came out. Such a cool looking/futuristic car.
@@BLD426
Well obviously you get a rating. But also... You have to get atleast 2 stars out of 5 or something to pass.
@captain_context9991 IDK. It was 30yrs ago & my roommate worked there & not me. It was just very notable that they wiped out a Vector.
@@BLD426
Typically they wipe out 20 normal cars to pass a crash test. In the case of million-dollar rare cars, they can do as few as 8 or even less. But only because they can usually handle more than one test. Its kinda crucial to determine whether or not they actually did it or not.
WOW!! WHAT A FIGHTER-JET ON 4 WHEELS!! I've got chills!! 😳
Been awhile since I've heard anything of it but the last I remember it was still sitting empty.
a couple of those photos were taken right in front of the ALUSA/Vector HQ
It looks more like the test track they had setup at the airport at Reynolds Industrial Park. I few years back they had drifting and drag racing in the same area as the pictures.
I was thinking the same thing. Probably at the airport. My BIL used to patrol that area and saw cars testing there in the late 80’s/early 90’s.
Your production values are top notch. A real pleasure to watch
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I remember two of these sitting at a shanty car dealer in Akron Ohio for years many many moons ago. Weird cars!
Amazing story by the way👍
Ah very cool! We were browsing the famous automotive photographer - Ron Kimball's website archive
What an AMAZING video! Well done Curated! Really top tier work. I am so glad you were the ones to find this car and sort everything out.
Thanks a ton!
@@WeAreCurated You are very welcome. Please keep doing what you are doing.
I absolutely love Yall keep it up
Wow, thank you!
AMAZING! Well done guys!! You guys have made history yet again ;)
Just telling it! Haha, thank you!
nice, I worked with an embezzler that had two m12's.
@@frankbertuzzi4782 M12 chassis 001 (flag car) and 012 (yellow) are still in OH.
I remember that Vector. So far ahead of it's time, there was nothing like it. Even today, it has modern written all over it.
Don't ever believe everything you read on Wikipedia. Do your own research. Use it only as a guide. Great video!
That car is the REAL Night Rider car Kit!
There was this small car dealership on US1 when I was about 16. There was a red Vector W8 there in the back. I would always stop into to see it when my friends and I would go fishing, it is an amazing memory and such a cool car. Love the content seriously!!!! One of the best channels on TH-cam hands down 💪🏻
what year, and can you tell us the exact location?
Are you sure it was a W8, not an M12?
Thank you so much! So cool to see the evolution of these cars. So rare!
Thanks for this Vector “Ride” mate! Your USP is story/history telling which No other auto You Tuber does. Great job😊
Such a wild car. I couldnt image what it was like to see one of these new. Glad to see it on the channel
imagine seeing one of these in the 1980s.. insane!
When Doug Demuro did his vid that was cool but this is next level .telling the story of the company etc . .can't wait to see more , hopefully you can show some service work on that w8 idk but it's so badass
Your guys passion for all these cars is commendable! Keep up the awesome work👍 love from the U.K 🇬🇧

Wow incredible the story’s you deliver on these cars is awesome man. Love the channel all you guys involved.
Much appreciated!
No way! That''s awesome
two more M12s in Tampa and St Petersburg (the red 004 and the silver 008 (formerly black))
The two M12s in the video are the yellow 1996 Detroit Auto Show chassis 002 and black chassis 003.

Really a visionary and pioneering piece of automotive history indeed.
What an incredible story! You need to do a full story when you get all the info about it.
That's the plan!
One of the most advanced cars of its day, the first hyper car. Such an amazing product. I talked to Jerry once. Such a great conversation. I'd love to own one of these one day.
Wow, what a captivating episode!
REUNITTTTED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. Another BANGER UPLOAD FROM JON AND THE CURATED TEAM
Haha thank you!
i am so glad to see you guys get into the vector story. was my poster car as a kid. i used to know where the only red m12 sat for many many years.
Incredible. Love those cars. You did some great detective work there putting everything together
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Great work John , love watching these behind the scenes stories of such rare cars , keep up the great work 👏
What an amazing car, can't wait for the full story. So interesting to hear it's true history.
It really is!
One of the best looking cars ever, great find! A legend.
Seriously 😮The VECTOR has been my dream car since I was 16 years old! ❤ 1993 wow I am in total awe!
The ultimate duo!
If anybody is the guy in 2023 to reckon with a lost Vector W8, you’re the guy. Congratulations man. You did it.
Insane lineups there!
I watched this video this morning, then Ran into Chassis #1 just about an hour ago.
Haha wow! So cool
Huge props on being a man and realizing your safety comes first! I’m glad you did that man. Huge huge amount of respect for you!
Yes... but literally seconds after talking about safety and setting a good example, he's driving phone in hand down the road. I've seen him do this a lot. It's not good. If safety is what he wants to convey, use the hands free in the car or get a bt headset.
Mr Wiegert was a misunderstood genius who has gone unappreciated in his own country! R.I.P Mr Wiegert 🥲🇺🇸
Really cool weird rad car! I was lucky enough to get to detail #003 dark grey one, still to this day one of the rarest cars I’ve worked on!! Good video
Wow, I remember this car from 1990 in High school. I was in 10th grade and it was on the cover of a car magazine and of course I was in awe.
The best video on TH-cam officially exists!
I was reading up on these the other day, interesting cars.
Very interesting cars! Unfortunate that the company didn't have a longer life
