RESCUED! We Found the Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Prototype in the Arctic Circle - EP. 15

  • The Lamborghini Diablo SE30 is one of Lamborghini's most iconic supercars and my personal favorite! I've known the whereabouts of this SE30 Prototipo for a few years now, but the owner did not want to part ways with it. With the car being located in the Swedish Arctic Circle, it wasn't particularly easy to go see or negotiate, but it was a car that we had to have in order to restore it and tell its history. Thankfully, we were able to overcome offers from the likes of Swedish hero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and the car is now in Miami! Our preservation restoration is underway, and our investigation of the car's past is well underway. Stay tuned for more on the Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Sweden car!

I live in Gällivare, where this car was "found". To me, it was never lost to begin with. This car has been around where I live for over 20 years. I've seen it out on town, I''ve driven past it, I've seen it on several local car shows and spoken to Loffe(The previous owner) many times. And I have sat in it. I knew it was special, but to be honest, I never knew it was THAT special.

According to an interview with Swedish media after the sale, he told that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wanted to buy the car some years ago. Being a fan of Zlatan the owner was apparently willing to potentially give it to him for free. But as Zlatan did not call him personally, instead there was an agent calling, he declined the offer. I doubt they knew at the time that this was such a special car. I’m so very happy that it ended up this way instead🙌🏻

Im little familiar with "Loffe" that owned the Lamborghini... Very down to earth guy, he doesnt brag or anything..I remebered that he had a Hummer H1 and the Testarossa he traded in for the Lambo. He used to be a electrican once a time (Had his own company). Now he have a little of estate's here in town and other stuff as well, dad knows him a bit. I hoped you liked the visit to Gällivare and liked the town.. And youre very welcome back for another visit :)

Boy do I have a story about this very car for you!
In early 2000s me and my buddies where hanging out in my hometown of Luleå, the capital of the northen most region in Sweden, same region as Gällivare where this car was ”found”.
I’m in my moms 1984 Volvo 240 GL (112 hp), don’t forget this.
I’m at the parking lot of the south harbour in Luleå when all of a sudden, I hear a rumbling noice.
At first I thought that there was some car guy with a bb v8 starting his engine.
But the sound was too smooth, yet low and growling.
This noice fills the air, it’s all over down town, it’s 8-9 pm so there’s little traffic going on, guess that’s why we could hear it.
I just HAVE to find out what it is.
I start up ”my” Volvo and start searching.
Going to a nearby gas station, nope.
Go to the central park, nope.
Go down to the NORTH harbour and just as I come to the parking lot, I see a purple wedge, at the stop light.
The light turns green and the purple wedge starts moving. I realised at once what it was.
    A Diablo!
I slam 2nd gear and floor it, run the light…not going to tell you what color it was…but it wasn’t green 😬
By now the purple monster has passed another stop light. I’m in third, reving the life out if the red block B23.
Pass that stop light as I hit 4th gear.
All this time the Lambo has just been cruising, not reving it at all, short shifting even.
I still have trouble keeping up, I hit 5th gear and make the pistons make friends with the valves, moms old Volvo is doing speeds that the factory in Gothenburg never thought was possible, 150(95 mph)-160(100 mph)-170(105 mph)-175(110mph)…
I continuing following this car, alone, no one else is following, they probably didn’t realise what a gem of a car this is.
Finally we get to the highway, the Lambo stops at the stop sign to enter the highway northbound. This gives me a few seconds to catch up a bit.
I storm through the curves of the exit of the first road just to see two bikes, think it was two Suzuki CBR900RR Fireblade, at least one if them was.
They overtake me on both sides just to catch up with the Lambo.
I make it close enough to see the guy roll out on the high way, slow! Steering the car so that it’s completly straight inline with the road, and stops!
Then he revs it, and lets go of the clutch….the sound….WOW! I’ll NEVER forget it.
He took of like a pay check. He was GONE! I drove back to town, told my friends about it and then I went home, couldn’t sleep for a few hours.
Oh, and nowadays I work in the town of Gällivare and one of my collegues know the guy who owned it.
He was cleaning out his garage, then he found the first page if the title to the Lambo. He gave it to my collegue as a gift, I got to see and hold it, a bit cool too.

Looking forward to part 2 and the continuing story of this car. Need to find more info on the the red prototype the pagani did. Perhaps it's related somehow to this car? It's amazing finding a car of such significance in the arctic. We're the owners even aware of the significance of this car? It's amazing Lamborghini let this car get out of their grasp. Perhaps you can restore it and offer it back to Lamborghini at some point. It's interesting the car car driver of a McLaren f1 ends up owning one of these. Se30 prototype is special but I would think he would want a McLaren f1. Interesting story their itself. Dealing with a prototype it's going to be interesting seeing what all the different quirks and features this had that may or may not make it into production. I would think it would be darn near impossible to make it back to exactly how the prototype was with how many different parts were used. Not a parts bin car but not a production car either. I hope lots of close up documantion and pictures exist on this car. Thanks for the epic content !

If what he's saying turns out to be true then all the red panels that Pagani made were originally on this car and pulled off to turn this into the first se30 which is sad but not uncommon for companies to reuse a chassis. Also I think in a previous video he mentioned that those panels had either been lost or scrapped but just from the photos you can see the beginnings of Pagani as a company

Would love to know how that Swedish gentleman came to own such a legendary car! There's GOT to be a story there!

    • @Fj3llis

He used to own a Ferrari Testarossa before this car but either traded or sold it, bought the Lambo in Stockholm from a dealer (i think) and drove it home. He also mentioned (the owner) to my father that there wasn't enough road to test the full potential of this beast so he eased on the throttle at around 340km/h and eventually slowed down 😊
Edit: He bought it somewhere south of Gothenburg 👍

I expected this to be much more of the story. It’s cool to see the car get cleaned and John and his people going over the details, but the actual interesting part is how John managed to find it and how the car ended up in Sweden with this gentleman.

@@kasimirdenhertog3516 The car was bought from a small low-key Swedish company called Ross AB. Ross has over the years dealt with some of the most incredible Lamborghinis/Ferraris, including Ferrucios old Countach that sold in 2020 for a record price, the green Countach that won best in show in Pebble and Murcielago SV chassis 001. I know Ross had deep connections in both Ferrari and Lamborghini back in the days and sourced some of the most special inventory. Thus not surprised that Ross managed to secure this special Diablo back in the days. Im fairly sure that the owner of Ross has many interesting stories to tell from back in the days.

Unreal how it ended up in that small town ,but now it may be preserved and never to be used or driven again. It seems that car has had a rough life, but it's almost better to see it in the wild than static couped up in some showroom or locked away in a "collector's" garage forever. That Blue Alcantara with the Purple is really really cool even though it's an odd color combo. I wonder if that guy even knew what he even had , and if you guy's paid him an appropriate amount for it ? The Purple SE30 has always been my favorite, but I want a black or grey interior that would look best to me even if it's not as showy.

Wow. I was just recently in Sweden and I read about this car and how “an American business man” bought this. I was thinking that it must have been something curated was dealing with. Apparently Zlatan Ibrahimovic had had his eyes on this car as well.

At minute 10:51 you can read on the interior of the center console “restituire” - to give back - hand written with a marker.
I wonder what they were meant to do with that piece
