@@MrPaloompa Some guy in the Dominican Republic has filed for the Vector Avtech trademark. No one to stop him despite being clear that no cars will be made.

Don't write that. But some of what you said is correct. America has communism elements to it. Germany too though. I'm in Germany checking it out. Horrible in winter too cold.
Weigert is badass. Should have set up his shop in Germany. Let's get vector going again. Reply here. I want to build a car collection too. Reply me. :)
Back in the early 80's I saw a small advert in a Robb Report magazine. I was totally smitten ever since. This was and still is my American dream car. I wish he was still in business. Thanks.
I had a poster of this car on my bedroom wall. Everything that came after it under the Vector name paled in comparison. This car, as Mr. Weigert said, was a 'no compromise, American-built' beast. The final iteration, the W8, I believe, was a mix of pieces and parts built and designed in a half dozen countries, and it was a travesty to the Vector name. Long live the W2!
I was very surprised to see this video. This car is not the original W2. I didn't even know this car existed. It has W8 features. The original W2 has a different bonnet & tail. I think your mixing the W8 with the Avtech WX-3 or perhaps the M12. The M12 was built after the company was sold off. It was fitted with a Lamborghini engine, and all the aircraft material was removed for a much cheaper alternatives. It was a total disaster. Everyone knows a Vector as being the W8, not the W2. It was the best model produced. You may be confusing the W8 with the M12.
This was almost the W8. He later changed the LED instruments on the dashboard to LCD. Also put mirrors onto the car and renamed it Vector W8. Looks like the watercoolers for the twin turbos was also missing on this model as well. Not to mention the airducts for the engine right behind the doors on the quarter panel.
such a shame the car did not enter serial production, Weigert really had a great vision. Today its very rare to see one off these on the road anywhere. 1200 Bhp max. WOW what a car.
Vision and execution are 2 totally different things.on paper it was an awesome car, in reality it had hard time drive for 1/4 mile without having mechanical problems
Thank You Gerald Wiegert. You design most beautifule car ever created. On your honor, i'm almost copy of your project but with antygravity system... some day we will to meet on 4 eyes.
for a billionaire $20,000 is what a dollar is for the average american. So spending 30 million for a billionaire would be like spending $1,500 by the average american, the price of a normal used car. :D
Road & Track deliberately rammed the car at 30 mph into a wall and it barely dented the nose! My car would definitely shatter its bumper at that speed. This was a car built to last. A loong time after this video aired, a newspaper tracked down the few owners of the remaining Vectors. All of them said the cars still run and they refuse to sell them. I believe that claim considering the hardware under the hood. They used anodizing and aircraft based materials. Wiegert stated that the car had to meet two requirements: be fast and last a long time. Ironically, his first customer (Andre Agassi, and no I am not making this up!) refused to listen to Wiegert's mechanics and drove it really hard the first time out. He was warned to "break in the car slowly". He was back within a day for repairs! Funny thing is, the engine, although not a Chevy, was subcontracted to GM under warranty so you had to go to a Goodwrench Center for engine service/repairs. I just can't imagine a 200 mph supercar on the lift next to a Chevy KC-series pickup!
Road and Track NEVER smashed the front end of this car. Weight had two W2s at this time and not only didn't let anyone damage his cars, he never let anyone officially test them.
That's probably why they weren't officially loud on the road because I thought one of them had to be literate the crash tested in order to be approved for Road use I thought you had to crash test a car back in that day was a long time ago
idrive it on gran Turismo one or two- it should be in all driving games and forza for sure with camaros and all mustangs and shelbys and widebody race versions of.- playstation it might be the first one although iplay it on a playstation II if its the playstation I version still.
Most of the owners of the barely dozen or so made say they will never part with them. I wouldn't either if I owned one. What I like is that if you had bought one, GM HAD to honor the warranty because it was subcontracted through them. Can you imagine this beast sitting on a lift next to KC pickups and Camaros? LOL. Seriously, unless you abused the car a lot, it probably wouldn't give you much trouble since many magazines and curious people have raved about the quality and sturdiness of its components even 20 years later. One noted that the body panels were lined up perfectly and he meant it. It was impossible to find a part out of place and even the rivets were very evenly spaced apart.

Even the "cheap" engine option is no wimp at 700 hp! To give an example of how much that is, the current Corvette C6 produces only 400-450! Yikes! And that's assuming BOTH cars are "basic" trim, meaning no upgrades of any kind installed.
Who cares what some POS electric does? Sure, quick 0-60 which also figures into the quarter, but about as soon as you hit 60, it almost hits a wall. But alas, that's not even the point nor is it worth talking about. Teslas are for rich leftist radicals pretending to save the planet, though they apparently don't know where the electricity comes from, or they just don't care.
