    Checking back in after a couple of years. Went back for another degree after being a clinical therapist for years. You inspired me! I LOVE being an art teacher. Just absolutely love it. Love middle-schoolers. Love my colleagues. Love our district. Every day is a joy.
    Thank you! You planted a seed and it flourished. 💕

    I love your watercolors! I draw portraits as well as still life and animals and also paint in acrylic portraints, still life. and animals . I have been wanting to get into oils and landscapes for a long time but watercolor has been pulling me too. I use watered down acrylic sometimes to help it spread and create a bokah effect at times but it doesn't spread as much as water color. I have also use sharpie markers for details. Watercolor seems a bit intimidating as it spreads so much. I need to just get a set and play around. Thank you for sharing! It's a beautiful painting!

    • @KellyEddingtonWatercolors
      @KellyEddingtonWatercolors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I think if you are used to watering down your acrylics, watercolor shouldn't be that much of a stretch. I know when I started painting with acrylics, I tended to water them down, too. The only thing that makes watercolor so much more difficult is the fact that you can't use white paint. The color of the paper = white, and if you're used to adding highlights at the end of a painting, that can throw you off. Just give it a try and see if it's for you!

    I really love your channel and your videos are so inspiring and informative! You make watercolor look so easy that I was inspired to try and now I'm hooked, though I suck. I would like to see you do a challenge video about using water brush pens or watercolor pencils or markers, have you ever tried/considered making a video like that? I know that is not your process and I think that would be fun to watch :)

    Hi Kelly, I just wanted to say, that I loved the video as, I love all your video's. The subject came at the right time for me as I need to paint a friends baby and babies features are so different. I'm better versed in acrylics, but I've been getting back into watercolor as after not using them since I was a child. It's so different and I've never went to any art classes.
    I want to thank you for your video's because they help me and have sparked my interest back into watercolor. As a creator on TH-cam, I know that we put a part of ourselves out there and we are teachers as well. I love all the lesson you do and I truly wanted to say thank you so very much for sharing you expertise in the world of watercolor. Your an amazing artist and just amazing in the video's you put out.
    Thanks again so very much.
    Hugs and Happiness,
    Briana C.

      How sweet are you?? Thank you so much, and I'm glad I could help you! I always feel so vulnerable putting videos up, and it's especially tough when I'm painting someone I love. I appreciate your kind words!

    • @ThePinkstampergirl
      @ThePinkstampergirl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kelly Eddington Watercolors , You're so great at it! And hearing you feel venerable as the rest of us surprises me, but very understandable.
      There's so many people out there that don't even do art, that like do down others work. I know. I had another channel that I closed down right after I had gotten cancer for the first time, but that being said I only had one real bad comment, but it made you wonder why they were being so rude. That doesn't stop me though.
      You art is amazing and I truly appreciate the lessons you have taught me already and you are a big part of why I have revisited watercolors! So thanks again so much.
      Hugs,
      Briana C.

    • @KellyEddingtonWatercolors
      @KellyEddingtonWatercolors  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tend to get rude comments on my more popular videos that get passed around more--people can be cruel. But the ones that aren't seen as much get the nice comments. To stay motivated, I really don't pay attention to comments on past videos. I kind of keep track of them the first few days after I post a video. After that, you know, I kind of don't want to hear about what strangers think of my voice or some idea I had that they didn't like. I try not to take things personally, but if I get one negative comment out of 100, guess which one keeps me up at night? Anyway. Thanks for being one of the good ones. :)

    I have been asked this question by an art friend and my answer was "personal preference." The question was...."she is right handed so why does she have her palette on the left side? Seems it would be more convenient on the right side so she would not have to reach across her painting all the time." You doing so doesn`t bother me. I`m also into art, an 89 yr old male, she is in her 80`s and I guess more inquisitive though. We both thoroughly enjoy your paintings.

    Hello, how can I make highlights on my drawings if I don't have masking glue ?

    • @candykelly2705
      @candykelly2705 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few ways to achieve having highlights without using masking, you can paint around them or "pick" out the highlights with a sharp object, once you're done with the painting. Some artist on here show how to do that, Or you can use a white pen or gouache. The problem with using pen or gouache is your piece isn't considered a true watercolor.

    It's very nice painting!! I love your painting!! I have a question, how do you draw or sketch the shape of her face?

    • @KellyEddingtonWatercolors
      @KellyEddingtonWatercolors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use reference photos that I will sometimes manipulate in photoshop, and depending on the subject and the size of the painting, I will either draw it lightly in pencil freehand onto the watercolor paper, work it out on a separate sheet of paper and trace it onto the watercolor paper, or if the subject is insanely complicated, I'll use a projector (many realistic painters use these occasionally).
