Been welding ASME stainless vessels in Upstate New York for two years now. This is my dream job, I went to two welding schools (paid for by the GI Bill) after working in steel construction/iron work for two years. I pride myself on my personal high standards of work quality, and after about a year my speed was on par with most others, but my quality was far better than the vast majority of my peers. The one aspect I struggled with was my pipe root passes. Your videos have helped me in that department immensely! Thank you, and keep up the good work.
@@JonRena-r7f the first was Lincoln Tech. Very basic school, but I got plenty of hood time out it. An instructor from my last class said we’ve all learned enough to get us a welders helper/fitter position, and that the school he went to was more fabrication oriented, within 24 hours I was touring the AMC at Community College of Denver. Possibly the best kept secret in welding education. Phenomenal facility, generously funded, and very driven and passionate teaching staff. A lot of people ask me the same question, most don’t get it, but I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thank you for your videos, I been to Tulsa welding school, learned my pipe welding there. Now I'm close to retiring and welding is a good paying trade. Heavy root pass is good to learn and like he says "no suck backs". Keep up the good work (videos).
Thank you for uploading the long version man!! You are an alien😂, I can’t believe with what ease you are controlling the puddle , fighting gravity and welding😮!! I love your channel and your video quality is amazing!! Mashallah 🤩

When doing repair work, on high pressure boilers for powerhouses, I've done buddy welds (stick and heli-arc). There were occasions, where due to tight constraints, we used the back feed technique.
You are true master my brother!!! Your knowledge and in-depth explanations are fascinating. Welders can learn so much from you. Hands down amazing channel and content! I’m just in shock that channel like yours doesn’t have more subscribers while some others who are just 3-4 min in duration and are all click bait titles are gaining more than 500 k views. That should really make us as welders worried 🧐, are people really that dumb ??🤔🤦🏻
Thanks for your comment brother. There are few welding channels that actually strive to provide knowledge, but there is also more channels that are focused on getting views instead of providing quality information. Unfortunately, that’s up to viewers to decide what they want to watch. When I try to watch some of them it just insults my intelligence 🫣.
@@calebc6028 I got it down now, I think the thing that helped was just being more accurate with my rod. Once I could keep it in the puddle I was good. I was really struggling with tig root, but thanks to this video, I was able to pass my F6/F4 test!
Glad it helped! 👍

@@X3MTIG bro which one do you prefer at root pass? walking the cup or freehand technique

Nice root welding jobs
Looks so easy) anyway with 1/8 rod it is easier because you don't have to feed feed feed, just keep it in there
True enough, but little correction, 5/32 is 4 mm.

Have you ever taken a weld test that requires you to run the root at a higher amp than 95?
Not really as I'm always running my root pass around 120-130 amps, only for stainless is lower.
Beautiful bro
You can really chill With Back feeding.
Great videos as always. Just wondering why you prefer scratch start over lift arc?
Thanks bud, I prefer scratch on Carbon piping, and lift on stainless.

great vid once again! question tho would you be able to root that set up with a 2.4mm filler? or rather is it doable?
Yes it is, it’s probably easier too.

what is the fastest root technique in position? Carbon and ss pipe.thanks I love you video..

Lay wire technique on both

Hello. Nice to see and learn from you, tell me the flow rate of argon in liters what current amps?
Awesome.
Nice root, however I’ve worked for companies where the plant wants the root at 1/16th. 1/8th or slightly higher will bust
Thats usually how it is, this is an insane fitup 1/8 gap is normally max, anymore and a fitter is getting fired

On top are you pushing and wire or just the minimum to keep tension and the filler connected
Hey bud, no pushing, just keep it constantly connected with weld puddle.

Thanks bud, standard pipe bevel pipe angle for welding is 35-37 degrees, didn’t exactly checked this one, but it’s in that range .
