Aja (Steely Dan) - Bass Cover by Lars-Erik Dahle

It's been on the cards for a while, and today I finally did it. All 7 minutes and 59 seconds of Steely Dan's progressive jazz/pop fusion masterpiece Aja.
I mean, what can you say about this track that ‪@RickBeato‬ hasn't already said? Steve Gadd and Wayne Shorter brings their soloist A game to an already all-star cast of players and knocks it out of the park. The full tilt latin rock groove at the end never fails to put a huge smile on my face, and here's the evidence.
This tune is not a bass feature, but without Chuck Rainey's eminent pocket and sense of low end melody holding it all together, it would be a very different record. An honor to play.
As ever, recorded at home in one unedited take, with my 1974 Precision going through my Avalon VT 737sp preamp.
