22/4 23, Brings back memories of my late Dad's 'M' reg' Toledo. Bought him an electronic ignition system from Halfords - seem to remember it clipped onto the coil. Prevented heavy pitting of the points. Used to buy replacement Cross Ply tyres in pairs from a local Esso Garage that had an Esso fitting bay providing a quick turn around including balancing. Think Dolly's had Saab engines (?). Looks like a nice part of Norfolk too. What's happening with Millie the Puma ? Happy motoring & Best Wishes !
Hi mate glad to bring back some good memories, yes i think the engines are saab linked in some way, them tyres sound good, yes its lovely in Norfolk, wish i could live there, the puma is still waiting paitently at home, one the trotter van is back in 1 piece, id like to get the new sill on, get it back on the road and then i can get the Cavalier home to sort 👍👍👍
My mate had exactly the same as your dads 1850 Automatic in white on a M plate , back in 1986 he drove it up the arse of a Hillman Avenger , we Welded another front end on it from a car from the scrappy , happy days 😂 when I say to people it’s a triumph stag engine cut in half I get laughed at , but it’s true
Hi metec, I had a dolomite,1300, 1980, I had an electronic ignition on mine, I think it was called luminition, it was very similar to the one you have, slightly bigger box but must have done a similar job
I put in a bunch of electronic ignition on old cars and they all run so much better. Especially on idle so a great update that is easy to change back if you ever want to 😊 My old Astra mk1 and my little grey Ferguson is the last two of mine running points
Hi mate I dont im afraid, i would imagine any good mechanic would be able to do it, id try and find a ford specialist local to you, sorry i cant be any more help, regards MEC
@@mec-tec love the mk2 cavaliers by the way. Looking for a cleanish example myself, but I prefer the saloon which are very hard to come by… or the convertible which are way too expensive.

The electronic ignition module - its in the "off" position in the video isn't it? That's probably why the green light isn't showing...
Hi, i thought the same but apparently according to the instructions, the 0 position is on 🤷♂️👍👍
