I have the same head and leave it set to the edge of breakup and have several Amp-in-box pedals pretty much covering all the classics. I even have a Laney and an Orange. My PedalPalFX PAL800 Gold v.2 blows away what I heard to day for the perfect crunch and several others like the Soldano SLO pedal give as good or better high gain sounds. If I record or send out to a house system I use a little miracle device. It is called the SHURE SM57. Best of all my rig does not go out of date every few months. My rig is paid for while others are on a permanent pay-out plan they never escape.
I thought the IRX looked amazing on paper and was definitely tempted. I prob commented this before but when i was shopping for a IR sim processor ultimately i settled on the BOSS GT1000core. It's been doing great so far. Easy to use. Updates are not needed. Chain set up can all be done on the device screen. Stage tested a few times and sounds fantastic direct to house. I especially like that I can set up my tone with hefty amounts of bass and mids (50B50M71T) and everything sounds crisp and distinct - not muddy
I do love the boss gt stuff myself. I run the IRX in the loop of my helix and it's incredible. I'm actually thinking of using it in the loop of a GT 1000 core the same way. That smaller but powerful rig with tube amp feel and response would be even better on a gt I think because the latency is so dang low ..many have no clue how great your unit really is 💯
Will definitely be getting one!!!! Sounds like a very versatile pedal. That channel 2 sounds sick!!! Well done on the demo , as always!!!! Keep it coming man......
Dude! I’ve been waiting for you to do this. It’d be fun to see you do a video on putting together a post metal pedalboard. Or even just a pedalboard into clean amp rig.
Should have gone out the effect send on the pedal to the return on the amp. Otherwise going out the balanced out on the pedal you are still using the built-in power amp simulation even if you bypass the IR which doesn't sound as good.
Bro I bought an Origin and put a MXR over drive in front of it and paired it with some greenbacks and damn. Sounds killer, I would also like to say the tone I’m getting isn’t really what I go for however I’m liking it a lot and I fuck with it 🤙🏽
I had one of these for about a week and just didn’t gel with it. I think it lost something without the IR and no external IR/cab sim could fix it for me. Also I really didn’t like the low gain channel. I wanted it cleaner than what it is. I wanted the clean sound from the Runt50 had. The UA lion though…man alive that pedal is KILLER. I love all the other features of the IRX though…I just couldn’t get the sounds I wanted.
Yo TD! In this video you mention the "hard skip" that was the Two Notes Revolt. I confess I haven't been gassing on that one, in spite of the fact my main rig is a Two Notes Le Lead and Le Clean in front of my Mooer 20w Tube Engine. (Got a Tonex for Xmas BTW) I really like the gain structure and clarity compared to almost every amp model on my Tonex, but then my amp building bestie comes in and says it sounds pedal-ish to his ear. He thought my Chopper Z sounded more amp like too. But even though the pedal is discontinued, I wouldn't mind seeing your opinion on the Le Lead if the opportunity ever came along. In my rig, it's thunder and chocolate.
@@ChakraOver9k I think the IR-X pedal is pretty dead on in terms of how the BE amp sounds especially the way the character of the gain changes as it's turned up. I think the reason why this pedal sold so well was because analog gear is much more easy to dial in and get a great sound. I've used plugins and multi-fx stuff but I'm a bit lazy and this pedal suits my needs pretty well. I don't want to lug around a 100 W head but I also don't want to depend on whatever shitty backline I'm given at a gig or practice room. This thing can go direct and in the FX-return of an amp. Also I think Taylor is using the balanced out rather than going through the send of the pedal so his sound is still including the power emulation. Probably why it sounds a bit weird. Also this pedal really needs a boost in front of it.
This one isn’t the one for me. It’s got some super cool features, true tube preamp, midi switchable, multi channel, cab sims. On paper this is the shit! But I’m not a fan of the gain structure here. Overall tone is a bit muddy compared to what I like. I’m digging the idea here for sure.
I think they have some pretty cool things planned for 2024, but I'm not 100% on what they are. I really like the stuff they put out, I think it's cool to have access to some of this stuff without having to drop $3k on an amp lol.
@@TaylorDanley I seen the Captain from Andertons talking to the Synergy guys "on video", think they got a new head or SYN-1 type of device with an updated IR loader thingy, lol.
Kartakou Beast Box is an ENGL e530 clone with some nice subtle mods that improve the tone and feel. The newer version has an IR loader as well. They're like $349 on reverb.
Hey Taylor. Last night I discovered a thing that I think NEEDS to be shared. It’s the absolute very best free amp sim suite I’ve ever tried. It’s called Tonocracy. It’s got several really solid amps and cabs. It’s got effects and WAIT FOR IT, it’s got a capture feature to profile amps! All for friggin free! I haven’t tried a capture yet but I’ve already replaced all my tones on 2 songs for both myself (metal) and a client (rock). It’s absolutely perfect! Taylor you’re going to want to cover this one bud. For serious!!!
I love that loomis kelly man!! Id love to have 1!! I have the regular pedal version of it. It had no gain hardly and i was so mad. But if you take the back off the pedal theres a tiny gain knob in there. That sculpts the overall gain of the pedal. 😂 much better. 😂😂 Also the nux amp academy is badass!
I think it sounds good in fairness but I think at the price point it’s a bit of a stretch considering other options for the money. I mean look at how far two notes audio have brought Opus / Genome for instance, or ToneX … I just think the price point is high relative to those … I get this has ” toooobs dude” but still … the capture / modelling has just come on so much now
If you're already mentioning modelers, then this probably isn't for you. Being a high voltage tube pedal, I think it's pretty good for the price. I did the two notes pedal a while back, and I prefer this much more. But se la vie!
i don’t mean to sound horrid but i think your tones would sound so much better if the bass came up abit or guitar came down i’m listening on studio monitors and i just noticed the guitars are quite pokey but obvs this isn’t you mixing with full effort as it’s a you tube demo so i can’t really complain
If you want to rip it, rip it from here.. sweetwater.sjv.io/NkVynV
I stopped lugging my 6505 half stack to shows. Now i use this, with a powerstage 170 into a 1x12

Pretty cool tool honestly. So many good things like this out now, its insane.
Great work, TD... 🤘🥁🎛️🎸☠️
Would love to see you do an IR-J and then an IR-J vs IR-X.
Dude, that Se Electronics ribbon mic sounds gold!
I don’t really like the sound of it, but it’s better when in fully thick chug mode.
Your Mesa 4x12 with the X1A mic is definitely a fave of mine

Taylor’s chug face with the look of unsureness sometimes cracks me up.
It looks like you are going out the balanced out, If so did you turn off the IR. If you go out the Efx send it's always off.
Id like to see a head to head comparison between this and the boss ir2
500 bucks? You could get a
Hotone Ampero stomp ll for the same price with way more features. Im going to have to 'Skip it'

Yeah but does it Jerry Cantrell ? :)
Not going to buy it at $500 but It does sound good. Thank you Taylor for another quality video.
I do not think it is the best for high gain metal tones, maybe it would be better with a overdrive pedal in front of it?I would skip it!
