🐒 BUDGET BUILT ROCKET! VW POLO PD130 DIESEL SLEEPER
VW Polo Info:
As of 2018, six separate generations of the Polo have been produced, usually identified by a "Series" or "Mark" number.[1]
Some generations were facelifted midway through production, with the updated versions known unofficially by an addition of the letter F to the mark number, e.g. Mk2F. Some members of the automotive press and some enthusiasts consider the facelifts to be separate models, so have used the unofficial designations Polo Mk1 to Mk7 for previous generations.[2] Each Polo model is also identified by a two- or three-character Volkswagen Group Typ number. Official VW Polo history describes Mark I to Mark IV using either Roman numerals[1] or Arabic numerals, with facelifted variants known as "Phase II" models.[3]
The body style has been varied through the life of the car, originally as a hatchback, which derived from the Audi 50.[2] A saloon version was marketed as the Volkswagen Derby.
Volkswagen vehicles built on different platforms have carried the Polo nameplate. For example, the Volkswagen Polo Playa hatchback sold in Southern Africa in the late 1990s was a rebadged SEAT Ibiza, which has a different body shell from the Polo Mk3 sold in Europe at the same time. The current saloon is only available in China, Latin America, and South Africa and other Southern African countries.
Starting in 1982, Volkswagen sold the Polo in Japan initially through an agreement with Japanese dealership Yanase that specializes in European and North American vehicles. Of all Volkswagens imported into Japan, only the Polo (until 2017) and the Golf (until 1997), complied with Japanese government dimension regulations until the introduction of the VW Up! in 2012.
Related models
The first Polo was effectively a rebadged version of the Audi 50 hatchback launched in August 1974.[2] The Audi 50 was discontinued in 1978, as Audi concentrated on larger luxury models. The Mk1 and Mk2 versions of the Polo were then standalone models in the Volkswagen range.
With the expansion of the Volkswagen Group: Audi (in the 1960s), SEAT (in the 1980s), and Škoda (in the 1990s) were acquired, and the platform used for the Polo was shared with other models.
The Polo shared its platform with the SEAT Ibiza Mk2. The Ibiza was actually launched before the Polo Mk3 and shared essentially all its mechanicals, the dashboard, and other interior components, although no body panels were shared between the two cars. The saloon and estate versions of the Polo Mk3 were actually rebadged SEAT Córdoba models and had no body panels in common with the Polo hatchback. The SEAT Inca and Volkswagen Caddy vans were also based on this model. The Volkswagen Lupo and SEAT Arosa were also based on a shortened version of the Polo Mk3 platform.
The Polo Mk4 continued this trend of platform sharing, with the SEAT Ibiza Mk3 and Škoda Fabia Mk1 and Mk2 both being developed on the same platform and featuring several of the same engines.

Just picked up a PD130 this weekend for £100 to swap into my MK5 Golf. Very similar setup to this.. Such a good engine to get cheap, fun and reliable power out of.

Just finished work and been waiting for tonight so I can jump in the bathroom lock the door and catch jokes love the cars that have been built to a sensible price coz I think it shows the ingenuity & problem solving to get round things. I had a golf pd130 mappeded to 180 bhp and 328 lbs torque it was an animal 13 years ago it suprised every one 😮👍👍👍👍

“Pump Duese” PD stands for.
His polo is badass, I wish I could tune my bug up like that. I’ve got the PD 100. They’re all the same block and bottoms etc, just with different injectors etc. I think the 150 had a different camshaft though
Also got a PD 100 bug, think injectors and turbo is the bottleneck. Not sure where to start. Stock remap will probably bring it to 120-140hp max.
Nope the PD100 has smaller rods, not as strong. PD130/150/160 all share the same block rods etc
Got a pd130 golf gttdi myself only stage1 pulls well the 1.9pds are very capable engines
Stage 1 is still a respectable 170 ish though bud 🤷♂️ like you say it pulls well

Just got a mk4 golf 1.9 tdi ARL 150 that is definitely not stock, no matter how hard these are pushed they always seem to do 50mpg

@@chrismills9346 yh I know of a few people who've had their camshaft go on them but there's not nearly as much issues on the PDs as on other engines

Props to ck this is an epic build 👌💯 I have a 1.4 tdi polo 9n3 which has had a pd130 swap im having issues where when im driving the car will suddenly start to splutter out of nowhere and wont go back to normal unless i let the throttle fully of and allow the car to idle im really stuck here any help or advice to put me on the right track would be highly appreciated 🙏✌️

No smoke no poke as they say! My daily is a Civic 2.2 diesel remapped to 190bhp and 320lb/ft torque. Even that surprises people - completely stripped out apart from the two seats at the front and dash etc. Hybrid turbo, injectors, intercooler and upgraded clutch is needed for more reliable power. Love the build, a well built fast diesel is definitely an experience 😊

@@blackmetalgoat9060 it hasn't got that yet, was explaining what is required for me to reach a reliable more acceptable power 😊 but yeah even at 190 it's fun and surprises people. However, my clutch has just gone 😪 gunna have a proper look now as its pissing out of the right side of the car which is nowhere near where I'd expect a leak for clutch fluid ??😳. Maybe it's time to upgrade everything and get some real figures 🥳 currently just a remap, homemade air filter and stripped!

i thought the original german g40 was the 86c (mk2) and the g40 that we know and love came in the mk3 over here (the mk3 was just a face-lifted mk2 really) cool car mate must be a hoot to drive!

In the UK there was the mk1 polo which looked like a baby mk1 golf, sick little cars I would legit give a kidney for one! The mk2 polo, breadvan shape originally had single or twin round headlights in the grille, small bumpers with the indicators in and topped out at 1.3 8v single point injection. The mk2 face-lift (mk2f) breadvan range was the same but it had the bigger jetta style brick headlights and the indicator in the wing next to the headlight with big bumpers BUT this series had the gt as the range topper with multipoint injection and shorter gear ratios to make it nippier...... At the same time the mk2f was launched they also revived the polo coupe with all the same engines and trim levels including the gt only this time it was the supercharged g40 that topped the range with the same engine and gearbox as the gt bit with a supercharger and some other revised bits to add to the fun. As buddy said the first of the really round ones is the mk3 (6n) after that was the 6n2 same rear emd as the one before but with squarer headlights and had the 1.6 16v gti at the top..... After that it's all 3 cylinder type things and far too electronic for my liking 🥴🤷♂️😂

@@ravenmaster6364 yea that's right bud, it's popular do the grille swap as they are literally the same lol and my buddy has 1a mk1 c that we polo gt converted in his garage and its amazingly quick for being in a bigger shell 😂 but I just live that era of cars, they have a whole heap of charm and character that new cars will never have 🤷♂️
