‘Woefully underprepared’: Sky News host has ‘serious doubts’ about Australia’s defence

  • Sky News host Caleb Bond says there are “serious doubts” about Australia’s defence capabilities.
    His comments follow the Defending Australia Summit where former Labor minister Kim Beazley said ‘we could not defend ourselves now without the Americans’.
    “We are just so woefully underprepared in terms of our defence capability,” Mr Bond said.

    Japanese Admiral Yamamoto who attended college in America said, "We can never invade America because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." This should be an option for Australia.

Australian sporting shooters and firearms owners pushed back hard against firearms law reformation but the fix was in from the start and we were trumped by an horrific act (Port Arthur massacre) that occurred and that had the effect of brainwashing every non firearms owner in the nation. I understand that America has had its share of horror but to Americans that type of thing is water off a ducks back.

    All in with Reserves Aust has 90k personnel. Vietnam 5.8 million. India 5.1 million. S Korea 3.8 million. China 3.2 million. Taiwan 180k active & 1.7 million reserves.

I’m astounded at how few of us Australians actually pay attention to what is happening in politics and the world, and even fewer that have the b@lls to call the government out on their terrible policies and lack of action in the best interests of the people!     When Kim Beasley was PM the government assessed the threat to Australia as being 2-3 man enemy groups running around the outback stirring up trouble. The government assessed this as the threat because that was all we were capable of dealing with.

    Whereas, an asian country with $80 billion has 1.3 million standing army, and ready or at least prepared to lock horns with China and Pakistan
