Still can't believe they cleared people into this country in such a short time. The immigration department and Minister are a joke, putting so little thought in regards to the safety of the Australian people and our society, as if we're not worthy of any concern.

I would love them to share their Risk Management System with the controls they have in place and how many of them have failed. It is my understanding that these civil servants are well paid and well looked after - should we expect higher standards. But what do I know - I am just a tax payer who has to put up with what I am given in the way of safety. Thanks you James Paterson for shining a light on this debacle as well as the rushed visas. The government's first duty is to Australian people - not to cave to rushing visa approvals due to pressure from some in Parliament and other sectors.

As for the visas, I do agree that the government should protect Australians first and if a non naturalised or non-Australian born person in this country should be convicted of a heinous crime, they should be duly deported as they could have applied for citizenship in the meantime if they really wanted to be an Australian.
