Albanese takes no responsibility for cost-of-living but blasted previous govt on same crisis

  • Sky News host Paul Murray says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese blasted the previous government’s inaction on cost-of-living while taking “no responsibility” for Australia’s current crisis.
“Every single thing to do with cost-of-living was personal, it was the then prime minister and his government’s fault,” Mr Murray said.
“So, you see cost-of-living is completely the prime minister’s responsibility unless of course it is this prime minister.”

To be fair we don't vote government's in rather we vote them out. Morrison was so on the nose that anyone but him was going to win. Mr 32% only made it across the line because of preferences, next election people won't make the same mistake. Lifelong Labor voters are jumping ship and saying they will never vote Labor again, I can't imagine there are enough rusted on Labor die hards to save the Labor party at the next election and definitely not enough to save Albo from his appallingly bad leadership

National and the liberals. Take too long to make any decision when they are in office. I'm going to vote one nation next election. They the only ones who will do something about the cost of living and bring housing down so more of us get an opportunity to buy a home. I'm very sure new Australians like yourself don't want to continue living at high cost under this government anymore than us Aussies.

    • @Nathan-ry3yu

Everytime labor and the Greens get into office. They do this. They have a long record of it.
Paul Keating labor caused Australia the worst recession in Australia history in the early 90s
Keven Rudd and Julia Gillard labor only diverted funds from other. And caused everything to double with their carbon tax.
Albanese labor. Hasn't done anything but make matters worse.
You can understand why labor the last 3 times they have been elected have been a one term wonder and spent years on the sidelines as only opposition. As my personal opinion, it was a huge mistake to make them government since they haven't got a good record.
I forgot to mention Gough Whitlam, labor. Who signed the Lima agreement back in 1975 that allowed Australian manufacturing to go offshore.
I just hope people have learnt from this and vote for a government that can work for the interest of all of us and not for the (WEF.) That stands for World economic forum

Flat tax 10% of spent money. No property tax other than the first buy of land 10% one time cash exchange is the end of government tax. Passing responsibility in Australia going on every level. I can say about construction industry - responsibility passed to the lowest level workers, who often don’t even speak English non residents . Resulting failure and defects.

Actions show who you really are. Albanese's pro PLO activism and on his kon tiki tour of the middle wearing his yassa Arafat headgear. Words prove who you are pretending to be. Albanese's says antisemitism is bad

No govt. There are other ways. Extremely small government, civil contractual arrangements. Govts do NOT have consent. Govt: control, mandate, coerce, force, influence, sway, corrupt, lie, enforce......

Both sides are to blame way back 30/ 40 years should have done something re housing. But no labor goes and allows 650 thousand people in past year. So albo you and labor solely to blame.

There is no doubt Albanese has to take dome responsibility for the issues we are facing now but there is also no doubt that the previous Liberall government has done everything right in the nine years they were in power. And we are seeing the consequences of that as well. Labor of course made mistakes but the Lubs are certainly not faultless either.

I would have to agree about the fuel tax they should have reduced the tax rate.
The cost of fuel has a massive roll on effect on cost of living issues with everything having to be transported.
And in all honesty the reason he originally gave for the power price drop of around three hundred dollars was cheaper renewable energy which hasn't eventuated.
    Not happy Jan.....

Until the energy costs and the mess with the energy transition is fixed, the economy and investment will be limping along because reliable and cheap energy is the basis of a successful economy with investment, innovation, security and resilience to adverse geopolitical and internal events.
The GenCost report is very superficial, substandard and it does not allow us to make an informed economic decision making that is required considering the billions of dollars at stake.
My view is that we have no hope with the Labor/Greens government and the longer we take action and have the courage to get the LNP back federally, there is no hope for the future and we are wasting precious time in getting the energy transition in order by having a mature adult conversation about way forward based on facts, engineering and professional standard economic viability determination as well as risks for an affordable, reliable energy grid. Right now, it is impossible to get an answer of a question, will the total costs of the network result in electricity prices that are affordable and what are the risks. The GenCost does not allow us to answer these questions.
