    The reason why overdrive is set to 100 on the VG259QM is because when using ELMB it is FIXED to 100 and not changeable.
    The reason why the monitor is set to 240Hz instead of 280Hz is because it was impossible to do a direct comparison due to the test not dealing well with different refresh rate monitors, they both have to be on the same refresh rate. That being said i have not noticed any motion blur performance difference when it is set to 280Hz.
    I will have to return the Asus monitor soon but if i have the time i'll upload another video testing the Asus with different setting (like for example 280Hz, ELMB off with different overdrive settings, VRR on etc).

      So basically you prefer the Benq over Asus since you're going to return the Asus monitor or did u get Asus just for testing?

    • @Aomicplane
      @Aomicplane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@PsychoDuckTV9000 The asus monitor definitely has some nice things going for it. Overall when it comes to motion artifacts i find that BenQ is the winner, but i have found that in certain occasions the Asus performs better in this regard. It kinda depends on the color of the moving object and the color of the background which it will have to change to. Very basically said, the Asus seems to perform better when it comes to extremes, eg. black to white. This is very apparent with scrolling text; the BenQ has a weird color shifting when you scroll through black on white text while the asus displays the text almost perfectly. I tried to show it in the last test of this video, but it is not that apparent on the test unfortunately . Also each monitor has some better motion performance when transitioning from certain colors to other colors. With the ufo test the Benq had the advantage that most of the color transitions happen to be where the Benq is good at. I will post another more comprehensive comparison between the monitors with Aperture Grille's frog test, which hopefully shows this better.
      That being said, the reason why i choose BenQ is like i feel like the the monitor has been manafactured to be the best adjusted when it comes to competitive shooters. The Asus may perform better on color performance but i feel like enemies in CS:GO for example are just more quickly visible. It's almost like BenQ calibrated the monitor to make enemies in shooters very quickly visible. Now i don't know if this is true, but overall i had a better experience playing CS:GO and Valorant on the BenQ. Also i find that BenQ's black equalizer is a lot better then the Asus's one, which again is something you'd want for competitive shooters.
      So what it really comes down to is personal preference. You'll have to prioritize what you find the most important, learn as much about the monitors and then make a choice. For me personally, while i do like to play casual games and use the monitor for other purposes like for example photo editing, i decided that the performance and features of the BenQ has for competitive shooters outweigh it's cons (eg. screen uniformity is miles better on the Asus) for my personal preferences. So while the Asus is a very impressive monitor, and better on certain regards, i personally chose for the BenQ.

      @Aomicplane  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vadimfrasineanu1345 The XL2546S has been discontinued. Why this happened is still up for speculation. Rumor has it it might be because of a parts shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that they might start selling them again in September.
      Other rumor has it the model will be replaced by a newer model, which either will have a new exterior design but same specs, or better specs. I'd suggest following the discussion about it here: forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6206&p=55057#p55057

    Due to a lot of people asking i have done more motion blur tests on the VG259QM on different settings. I will post a video soon showing the results of different settings (eg. 280Hz, different overdrive settings, ELMB off, VRR on etc). The VG259QM on some occasions has less motion artifacts (motion blur, overshoot, ...) then the XL2546S. It kind of depends on the color of the moving object and the color of the background. I might also make a more comprehensive comparison between the two monitors, which will hopefully further show the difference between the two monitors.
    I'd also like to point out that these tests only showcase motion blur performance. There are other variables to look out for, for example input lag, screen uniformity (which the VG259QM beats the XL2546S due to being IPS), color performance etc.

    • @Aomicplane

      Yes the Zowie can get incredibly bright even with backlight strobing enabled. Personally i permanently have backlight strobing enabled and i have the brightness at 31% (i believe it was also set between 30 and 40% in this video), at night before i go to sleep even that gets too bright for me. And great color reproduction from ips panel. In terms of performance, its all quite the same but i think the va or tn panel have the upper hand because their on the high refresh rate monitor market longer than ips. And they cost usually lower but again, ips having the viewing angle and more natural color reproduction is worth the premium cost

    due to how accurate this video could possibly to looking for exact information on top specs you look for, its insane youtube insecure trolls have already got to disliking this lmao, not that it actually matters though its just weird how such as an informative yet unpopular video could already have some.
    my thoughts, the xl2546 or rather not to mention it being the xl2456s, was so accurate. it was actually nice to look at and expect from a competitive and casual perspective. even the lighting and color was nice, not sure if thats due to settings though.
    the tuf vg256qm though... i feel that ghosting was way to noticeable especially for the fact its only at 240hz here rather than the full 280hz. channels like linus tech tips have i think been using some kind of "pursuit camera" setup as he hinted at in the video for the pg259qn for capturing close up and high quality screen motion. even though their captures were blurry for the comparison of 240hz to 360hz, the ghosting still seemed minimal or at least opac but still noticeable. i wonder how much it is in-person or with your recording with 280hz and the 360hz. in addition again, when doing the text scrolling test, it could just be settings but it seemed grayed out or musky/misty towards the ends.
    the transitions that you made, especially later on when it cleanly goes from one line of a monitor to the next monitors same line was really nice. some videos ive seen fail to do that so it doesnt seem accurate at all for comparison, this was so accurate it was precise to.
    it seemed the only time the xl2546s ever had some kind of noticeable ghosting was on the front of the alien's ship window at only 15 fps, and its not really noticeable unless you are looking at the front to see that line of the slightly opac and behind ship's front window edge. so it only shows or gets worse at lower or bad fps.
    i was wondering if you had dyac on and elmb, and the description shows that you do so thats even more impressive, not to mention the monitors themselves being the s version of the xl2456 thus containing the dyac+ and marketed 0.5 milisecond response time, but its also the tuf vg256qm which i think is the 2nd highest desktop monitor refresh rate being 280hz as of now, and with elmb over ulmb (and asus holds both the highest of 360hz and this 2nd highest of 280hz).
    thank you for making/showing this video/observation.

      The settings the creator of this video chose is the best for motion clarity already this is not misleading. Want proof? This review is of the same monitor but 27 inch: www.aperturegrille.com/reviews/ASUSVG279QM/. Overdrive is locked to 100 when turning on ELMB. Turning off ELMB makes the motion a lot blurrier so must be on for best clarity. Turning off ELMB makes Benq win easily because of DyAc+. Also 280hz vs 240hz makes pretty much no difference to motion clarity so this comparison video is still valid. Everything said in this comment is based on the review I linked.

On certain occasions the Asus performs better to the Benq when it comes to motion blur effects (motion blur, overshoot, crosstalk etc). Scrolling text for example looks a lot better on the Asus. LOL is this a running joke? because the VG259QM's ELMB sync has way better motion clarity than Dyac from benQ. What this UFO test does not include are pixel inversion artifacts, Microstutter, and tearing and about 20% more motion blur(since the benq has lower refresh rate) The VG259QM will crush this monitor if there were in practice results. one major equation is "SYNC". with ELMB-SYNC included, there's no tearing, microstutters, judder, stutter, and PIXEL INVERSION artifacts. The BENq does since it's TN

      Yes true but if zowie wanted to switch to ips and make the non ghosting tn panel show on ips they would have to lower it to 144-165 cause they not smart enough yet to do so. And if they do make a 240 im sure there will be ips monitors that 400+ fps that almost look identical to the ghosting on zowies
