    It’s too late now, but I suggest making well rounded corners (3+ mm filets) on the inside bottom of the containers. Mine are square like yours and it is a real pain getting out small screws, nuts, etc. Having them rounded means you can slide the parts up the side to get them out.

      Never too late mate, thanks for the tip. However I've actually put a radius on that inside chamfer there which is just under 3mm, you can kind of see it at around 8:50 . Works well for getting those small parts as you suggested

    Great video. I am in the middle of an organization crusade of my own. I moved interstate and went from having a dedicated building to a 2 car garage with an extra deep bay. That extra deep section of the bay is all I have now.
    I also love watching these types of videos that aren't produced in the States. One of the reasons is I get to see products sold by retailers here that claim to design their products, only to see the exact product sold by "Mechpro" is badged HUSKY and sold by Home Depot. 🤣

      Oh man I know all about it, you shoulda seen the space I had before this place.
      Happy you found some use from my Aussie "husky" cabinets 😂
      Good luck on your crusade!

    The 400 grit between penultimate and final coats does do something. It gives you a glassier finish because the surface is smoother. It might not be that noticeable cause you're still only using 400 grit, once, for the final coat, but it does do something.

    I love the project! Have you checked out the gridfinity project? Its very similar to your grid setup

      Hey thanks mate. I have seen that, it makes a lot of sense I think in the modular sense, but considering how much I know I'll change my layout until I commit to something it wasn't worth the effort for me. I also didn't want to have the impressions on the underside of my trays for anything over the 50mm size (100mm long would have a divot in the centre for example) so that would require me cutting out sections of the grid for those trays (which I was originally planning on doing).

    Are you going to make the 3d files available for download? Looks awesome!

      Thanks mate! I don't usually sell/give away my designs digitally but I'll have a think about it. I will likely make the physical items available for purchase :)

    Surely that must be 40mm thick not 70mm? Didn't look 70mm massive 😮

      Hey mate where abouts in the vid are you referring to, I believe I made the bins themselves 70mm high from memory.

    You didn't like the GridFinity storage boxes?

    • @fatlipcollective
      @fatlipcollective  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't dislike them, I just like making my own things. I came to a similar conclusion with the modular boxes but there's a few things I've done differently that work better for me. I also have a bunch of new custom ones I'm working on and this way they'll all integrate as I want them to :)
