I immediately cut the cat off, and put in a piece of scrap pipe i had, bent with pie cuts lol. got my $175 for the cat, so the car was essentially free. FREE CAR! lol. BUT, I will say. I have only ONCE got stranded on the side of the road, and that was due to a bad ignition switch. I had wires and a relay, as well as a momentary push button in my random bag of tricks and tools in the trunk, so i wired up my own switch and made it home unassisted!. Beater cars rule dude.

Finnegan, you (or someone else on Roadkill) cut the center section of the crossmember out to clear the trans... the crossmember that holds the torsion bar mounts. You see the box section at 15:35 - that seems important.
That’s the structural box trying into each side of the frame that provides resistance to the twist for the torsion bars. Need to figure out a way to incorporate that back into the car…or go with the aftermarket IFS coil spring front subframe that eliminates the torsion bars.

Just a thought to seal around your new sheet metal flooring, to keep the exhaust fumes out. Get some putty tape from a R.V. Store and seal up the gaps with it, and you can remove it if you need to and reapply.
I have been binge watching your stuff on TH-cam and had to come back to this video and tell you that the metal you used for the seat holes with the burn spot was made from when Freiburger was cutting the supports off the rearend that is under the Daytona.

We fit a lot of these side shift trans to various US and EU cars, the best way to box off the shifter area is to bend a vertical 3-side piece in the brake, and behind the shifter let it stick through the round shape of the tunnel a little bit. That way you can run the sharpie past the edge and have a perfect fit.
In a lot of the old pics of Daytonas and the ones I've seen in person, they have a baby chin spoiler to direct air into the radiator. Also have seen them with the opening of the nose enlarged like a Superbird.(it extended under the nose) Almost all of those had a 18x24" opening with a sceen held by an aluminum frame with a bar in the center. It makes a huge difference

I remember finding nutserts. Was dealing with my ramcharger and it ticked me off cause the factory trhead clips snapped from rust and that was a project just getting the bolts off to pull my fender. So went looking for something better and found them.
As rough and mangy as the car is, still looks awesome going down the road. Such a wild profile. Your neighbors must enjoy the steady parade of crazy hot rods randomly rolling around. 😁
We run a shop that specializes in floor pans and sheet metal for classic cars if you need help with that we can also salvage that quarter panel that’s barely hanging on.
Please get some Allen's sockets. Watching your boy use an old school Allen wrench when you have snap on tool boxes is killing me.. you can also pick those up at home depot. Otherwise much love and respect.
Those inserts/blind nuts are great until they slip and spin, usually in the worst location to try and drill or cut out. The smaller mandrels are easy to break too 🤦🏽♂️
"Rust you can depend on."

Tech tip: early Mopar hoods have to be drilled with a 357 Magnum. The steel was thicker back then.
They dont make em like they used to
And STILL, they would ripple.
@@ronjones-6977 Yep, might have been thick. But it was weak as pop cans.
So…THAT’S why the classic Milwaukee 1/2” corded drill is called a Magnum Hole Shooter?
The trick is to lay underneath and shoot through both the core support and the hood. That way the hood pins always line up...🤣

The guys that make the nut cert tool are in the next town over from me in Mass.
How convenient!
Buddy drilling the hole WAY TOO BIG reminded me of blasphemi with the guys from street outlaws 😂
❤❤❤
You need an "Astro Pneumatic Tool ADN14 Rivet Nut Drill Adapter Kit." Attaches to your impact driver and uses battery power instead of your hand power. makes installing riv-nuts simple and easy.
definition of a project car: you send it to the dipper on a trailer, and they send it back in a coffee can, with twenty gallons of JB weld and a note: some asseembly required.
I was having some problems with the threadserts spinning in the hole so I started putting tack welds on the inserts to hold them in the hole
Good idea. Do you use steel nutserts ? If so, do you use a hydraulic crimper?
Great vid! Nice to be able to watch the thought process that goes into the fabrication process! 😎👍🏻
Structural adhesive instead of tek screws?
@8:00 danger close to paint ,gave me anxiety lol
You'll need a big flat, slightly angled forward, scoop attached to the core support to get big air up into the radiator.
I love the way you figured out the plating for the trans tunnel!! And it looks……….functional!!! 😃😂
Love your Big Lebowski reference! 👍
I love the guard on the death wheel. I have one just like it the real trick is to squint really hard when using it.
You did an awesome job on that charger and also on the caddy beautiful 🤩. I could imagine how the 63 Vett is going to look 👀 hurry up. Awesome show and keep up the great work 👍👍👍🍺🤩🍺

"Numbers matching rust" 😂
All I could see was the spoiler over the median NB 75 in KY, but somehow I just knew it was you!
❤❤❤
Nice burn out at roadkill nights. Thanks for signing my hat
One thing's for certain,, admirably,, Mike has accomplished that shifter hole patch so much nicer than a lot of rod builders would have. Don't believe me? Go shopping for an already done pro street car and see what you find. A lot of 'em will only pass the 20/10 test. 20 feet away @ 10mph. Don't look too closely and they'll look GR8.🙂
Hey Mike. A better template for making the tunnel would be the crossmember piece of tunnel you cut out. And you can work on the bench with it
I love the poster of Uncle Eddy emptying his shitter in the backround next to the whiteboard, your my spirit animal sir lol
It's near mint! All it needs to cross the line is the Vega hatch mod for the rear window, maybe some working lights... and that's it.
Walker flex pipe would make ideal snorkels from each mesh headlight cover to a rad shroud.
Ordered a nut sert kit for my shop from Amazon a couple weeks ago that has a range from 8/32 to 1/2". It's a tool I know I won't use that much but the times I've needed it and didn't have it were frustrating. Great tool to have.
I was excited about the Dayclona when you bought it. Glad to see it run.
The fact that you still build cars that are road kill worthy is absolutely awesome
❤❤
hey Mike. a tip for you. Next time you need to mark a stud or a hole. Or anything, just wipe a dirty finger over the paper.Perfect lines every time.
Then you don`t need to work with a hammer that don`t hit the spot :)
You need to raise the front of the hood hinge to lower the back of the hood. Sounds strange but that's how it works.
The smaller mandrels are easy to break too 🤦🏽♂️
Glad to see you guys have kept comradery through these times. Enjoy "All!"
"Numbers matching rust!" 😂😂😂
New quote if you cant make it perfect make it adjustable😂
That old Chrysler starter sounds like an air assisted Kenworth! 😂👍
Cousin Eddie poster....."Merry Christmas...Shi**er was full"....😂
