After not getting a tag this year and listening yals strategies . I now I have tag last minute and to the backcountry. Thank you for GO HUNT and for all yal do!
I love the gear shop, all the personalities and YT content. I like the maps also but this year my Insider status came in clutch scoring me a tag when my normal tags failed to manifest. It truly is worth the money especially when you consider their promos they always offer in their podcasts. Like Brady, I ALWAYS wear gaiters.. Desert to deep snow, they are worth their weight in gold imo! Best of luck to you all this season.
We will try to get a new one on the books! You can also check out some of Brady's previous late season rifle mule deer gear lists for pretty much exactly what he carries gear wise. Here's a link to a really good one: th-cam.com/video/MfsNRN0Hpz4/w-d-xo.html
Well said!! I sort of think of it like trekking poles: People used to make fun of them all the time for hunting, but now they are commonplace as people have seen the light as they are four-wheeled drive for hiking. And I think gaiters are still that piece of gear that people don't understand the true use for: morning dew, rainstorms, brush, keeping stuff off your boots and pants, etc.
Mid-September is when the large game bags will be back in stock. Very sorry about the delay. The mediums will work as well for elk if you completely debone the meat. A lot of us like that size as it can fit nicer on the pack.
A good glove for shooting your bow can depend on a few factors. But the best option might be to use a glove on the bow hand (practice with it before hand), and then a lighter weight glove on your release hand and maybe cut out the tips of the fingers so you can feel the shot. Or glove on the bow hand, and then don't have anything on your release hand and keep it in your pocket as much as you can until you need to get ready for a shot. Some great options are Outdoor Research Lost Coast Fingerless Mitts for extreme cold weather, then you could even have a thin liner glove on the inside. Or maybe even Stone Glacier Graupel Fleece Glove or Outdoor Research Backstop Sensor Gloves or King's XKG Primaloft Guide Gloves.
I’m trying to understand how it’s always just full Sitka or full Stone. Never a mixture. “Testing” doesn’t sound believable. As a seasoned hunter, there is gear we like from both. Funny how Kuiu never gets mentioned, as they too are top of the line. Kuiu also isn’t available at the gear shop. Coincidence? I’m waiting on a gear drop of your true favorite pieces, not whatever you’re promoting at the time. The gear shop must be overstocked with Stone and they are trying to clean house? You guys are amazing and I love the channel and Insider, but yall are changing. Not the old GOHUNT
Obviously they are going to promote what they have access to and who they have relationships with. Pretty sure they have always been that way. I never remember them promoting a strictly DTC brand like Kuiu…its simply a filter you always have to know. There are other sources out there of people who will mix and match and include the DTC brands.
That's a great question. Guys like Trail in the office have mix and matched his gear on almost all his hunts. He loves Fjallraven pants, would wear Sitka uppers, and have a Stone Glacier or Outdoor Research puffy. If there are certain items a person likes from other brands, for sure we suggest picking up pieces you like best. KUIU does make great clothes, and we wish we could sell them in the Gear Shop. So, while most of the gear on our hunts is stuff we sell in the gear shop, there are lots of other pieces of gear we use that we don't sell. For example, Brady has been using an MDT bipod for years, and we don't sell it. He also used Sig optics for a long time before we started selling them. Brady has used KUIU in the past and was very successful in it as well. We've done several films of Brady wearing KUIU and even other guys in the shop. Then we've even had guys wear First Lite on hunt films. And if you've seen, Brady really tries not to switch things too often, but at the end of the day it's also great to fully test out a system to see how it works and some of our guys like to do that. In a way, by sometimes switching pieces, he has more experience with different pieces of gear and materials. This is a great discussion and there's valid points all around. Appreciate you reaching out, thanks for all the support on Insider and best of luck this season.
Brady hasn't released his new gear spreadsheet yet. We will tell him to get going on it and publish that. It will be a Google Sheet that you can clone. And there will be an article on GOHUNT and we will drop the link in the description of this video. Sorry for the wait.
Hahaha! I'm glad you caught that part on the recent podcast. It's surprising how much gear you need for Australia ;) Those mule deer live in some crazy places over there lol

People that make fun of others who wear gaiter have never owned a pair themselves. I literally can't hunt without them.

Will large game bags come back in stock anytime soon?

Would the medium set work well for black bear?
Brady how would you compare the Sitka Ambient hoody to the SG Helio hoody?
My hands tend to get cold. Even during September archery. Can you recommend a glove to keep my hands warm that I can still shot my bow with?

We need a zoom for Brady’s kit…that toothbrush was the same size as his fingernail 😂
Haha! Super funny.
😂
