Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to share this information. The “Check water” light came on our Bosch Exxcel dishwasher and although the water entered the dishwasher, it just sat in the bottom and did not circulate through to the washer arms. We followed your instructions and, after taking the side off, found the water inlet completely blocked with gunk, just as you described. After cleaning with bleach and reattaching, the check water light has gone out and dishwasher is now working perfectly. We feel very proud of ourselves now but would never have had the confidence to even try it without your help and guidance. You’ve saved us at best an expensive call out or at worst a new dishwasher. Thank you again so much. We’re so grateful! 😊

Many thanks for the excellent video; I have just fixed my dishwasher using your video! Both of the clear plastic manifolds inside the RHS were full of some fatty / scaly deposit. I removed both the manifolds and flushed them out with drain cleaner & hot water. Lots of soaking and tapping them on the bottom of the sink and the gunk slid out. Thanks again for taking the time to film and upload!

Brilliant instructions. I had the second problem, the valve was stuck due to limescale deposits. I cleaned it up with some lemon juice and a lot of shaking and it all seemed like it is going to work until I turned it on and the machine went pop with bang. I think I managed to get some water in the electronics components and it shortcircuited. Hope others are more careful than me!

Thank you - found small chicken bone in impella (not sure how to spell that!) also have more recent model so no star drive needed. Used ladel to remove as much water as poss then used cloth to soak up last bits of water - helped keep clear vision. You are a legend lol. Best video ever! I had a flooded kitchen this morning so followed video no 1 to clear out impeller and found pieces of peanuts and also a clove. Ha ! thought that was problem solved but water warning light was still on so dismantled the side of dishwasher the float chamber was black so took it all apart like you showed us ( my husband nearly had heart attack when he walked in and caught me surrounded by a dismantled machine ! ) I bleached it, hot water hosed it under pressure, got drenched . Reassembled it ..ha water warning light still on so now need to go to video 3 !! ..but I have had fun, learnt a lot and would never have tried it without your video. ..onwards and upwards ..but bless you, thank you lovely man for posting the videos and teaching me something new and I maybe I have nearly fixed it lol !

      @tryityourself3870  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Marretta Corliss that’s funny! Sounds like you’re having fun with it 👍
Remember to take a look at the case to ensure it’s not full of water 💦
If it is then the case float will rise and prevent filling giving you a check water light.
The case float is s red needle like float next to the chamber in video 3. This acts on the switch to stop more water going into the system. If you had a little food then it’s likely water may have entered the case. 👍

THIS VIDEO saved me a few hundred quid and potentially my marriage after the dishwasher failed mid lockdown :-)
my problem wasn’t addressed specifically in this but it the video led me to the issue. I addition to the steps in the vid, I cleared out the plastic float thing that you can see directly above his hand at 5:19, there was crud in the chamber with the float, which was making the float too buoyant and causing it to drain prematurely

I had this problem just before Christmas so not enough time to get a replacement for man out to fix. Our unit was dry so looked at the water bladder, cleaned it with descaler so found a long skewer really helpful as you can get in on the air vent and use it to dislodge the black deposit and work the float valve free. Put it back together and its working again so great you have saved me either £100 for a repair or £300 for a new machine, and more importantly the dishwasher can now do the Christmas dishes

Thank you so much for this video, we had the second problem and I managed to use a couple of cable ties (tying second one in a loop to use as a handle) to poke at the sludge to dislodge from the top and bottom side area. I think removing a ton of sludge from the door seal last week brought on this issue. All seems to be working now. I'd advise anyone doing this (we had a different model) to take photos or video of how things look for when you come to put back together again.

Thanks for your video, very helpful, I had the check water light on, but it never filled, so followed the latter part of your video to remove and clean all the gunk from the plastic tank as you showed. A combination of hot water, bleach, banging, and blowing down different pipes eventually enabled us to get all the muck that was surrounding the red valve out. BUT this didn’t solve my problem !!!
When I turned the dishwasher on again (with the side off), I could see the waste outlet starting to fill, but despite the impeller going continuously the cycle never progressed. More googling and I found the problem. Towards the front of the dishwasher is a red lift lever for the float valve in the bottom of the washer - this lifts when the bottom of the machine is full of water and it then tries to pump it out. My problem was the other larger pressure chamber had gunk in it, causing the valve to stick open, and so it continually tried to pump water out the bottom that wasn’t there. This was evident when I manually pushed the red lever down, the cycle continued OK. I removed the larger pressure chamber, took the top off it, cleaned out the muck from the larger red float, and reassembled and all is well. Good video, be useful if you could have covered the scenario of muck in the large pressure chamber as well.

I decided to check the drain filter first and removed it, although the machine was not flooded. There was quite a lot of grit and fluffy bits and I cleaned out the filter and holder with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush. This seems to have done the trick and the machine is now well into its cycle and the "check water" light has stayed off. I'm surprised that a relatively small amount of matter on the filter can cause the machine to stop, but now you have shown me what to do it's an easy fix. Thank you very much.

We did all of this to no avail (but now have spangly filters!) so anyway, all that stuff eliminated and I now know what to check just as general maintenance.
We then discovered another forum where someone talked about the 'Bosch Sludge' that builds up at the bottom of the waste pipe and eventually causes the 'check water' fault. Following their suggestion, we slowly tipped it onto its sides; first fully to the left, and then fully to the right. Have a mop at the ready!
It worked. Switched it back on and it was back to the 'washing light'. It almost immediately spewed a load of gunk out of the outlet (so I will empty the U-bend later) and is merrily washing stuff. BOOM!

very clear guide - just spent all morning wrestling with my dishwasher - tip it forwards, backwards, left & right - just ended up with water on the floor and the ruddy "Check water" light still showing - last time this happened I paid Bosch a small fortune to send an engineer, who found a TINY bit of fluff on the water flow sensor reed switch - which made very little sense to me (retired electronics tech) - need a rest now before trying your fix! wish me luck...

sad to say the Bosch SPS40C12GB has a different layout - checked pump impeller = all clear + pumped out a good half bucket of water... also plastic "side tank" is much larger - covers nearly all of left side of machine - it looks to be full to the brim and water circulating (presumably through heater) - also tried tipping machine - no joy - may have to call out "the man" :-(

Many thanks for posting. And, I found an easier fix for mine. It didn't have any water on the inside so I assumed it was the water in as you said. I didn't want to get into taking it apart right now so I googled a bit and found a guy saying 'tilt it'. I tilted mine about 40 degrees to the left a couple of times, some water came out of the bottom, and it works now. I will take the side off and check the pipes and tanks at some point though. Big 'thank you' for this vid!

      Hello,
The Trigger switch which powers the Fill/Drain logic has a float. When there is water in the base, the float will rise, causing the water to stop filling and will give you the check water light.
