These videos are so transparent. Feels like you're making it up as you go along. Thanks for your effort....

I've used acrylic paint from Winsor and Newton to color plaster and it has so far worked, so if you are thinking about doing it go for it! I read in previous comments that it potentially could weaken the plaster, I don't think it will however the best would be to try it out first in a small quantity :)

For anyone wondering coloring plaster with paint does work but I find pigment meant to be mixed into plaster are more reliable and will oftentimes come out solid, acrylic in plaster usually ends up a little marbled for me, and I can only do a little bit as too much will offset the setting time and the mixture might not harden. As far as mixing the plaster for a marbled effect I don't know if it would work, all the plasters would be setting at different levels so it might not set right. Maybe if you made one big batch, added vinegar to slow down setting time, then separated and added paint, then poured into one mold? The part that would be iffy is adding the paint as that would be more liquid in the mixture, and to be safe I would stick with only a little paint as the paint would have its own setting time and too much might interfere with the plaster setting time.. the mixture in the video imo looks like too much paint in the mixtures, and maybe like they didn't use the same amount of paint to water ratio which may also set it off. If you want vibrant plaster maybe stick to painting it after, I find water colors and acrylic sink into plaster very well, for a marbled effect I bet there's some way to water marble plaster if you really want to.

ATM I'm trying to see if I could do a plaster skim with colour on my walls, I've mostly worked with plaster to make sculptures, casts and some basic home improvement projects, I've yet to find a video that talks about adding acrylic color to plaster skim coats though, I'm most likely going to just stick with plaster pigment additives, a little less stressful lol!

@@vcvcvc9216 😂 Guess you're going to have to be the one to upload a tutorial on it. I'm currently trying to mass produce plaster statues and objects with acrylic paint and/or mica pigments. Any suggestions?

@@danielabera6752 lol seems like it's needed! As far as suggestions for pigments I'm scraping the bottom of my memory bucket on that one hahah. I remember in the sculpture class I took the professor would bulk order a lot of his supplies and one of the websites he would use was sculpture supply canada, I actually checked to see if i could find the containers of pigments we would use on the website because the label had been destroyed by the time it got to my class but no luck, the only pigment for plaster I could find was raw umber oxide pigment, which could have been one we used, but the picture of the powder is just loose lol. Honestly any colorant that says it can be added to gypsum would probably work great. Also I'm sure you're aware but just in case I highly recommend hydrocal for the sculpture it's a harder form of plaster than the regular plaster, I used to make molds out of plaster of Paris and burlap and would pour hydrocal in the molds, not good for bulk sculpture but pretty good for one offs!

I have used acrylic paint to tint Plaster of Paris and it weakens the plaster considerably. It's a terrible idea to use acrylic paint. You'll waste your time and materials using acrylic paint to tint Plaster of Paris. Been there, done that.
