I would probably wear a mask while brushing the sculpture, especially if I did often; I can see some plaster dust in the air around 37:55 for example, and you don’t want it to get in your lungs.

Stain and seal... the best, most authentic way.. ive used cheap water color with ting bit of pva glue and water. (Elmer's glue)... then paste wax...careful with shoe polish brush, youll chip the plaster with the handle if not careful.
Instant coffee with no cream or sugar, over a light color wash adds depth 😊
That was very interesting, thank you. I was given a pair of pop figurines to restore and paint and this has given me some fresh ideas on how to approach it. I'm delighted to say I have shellac already as well as the wax that I used on other projects. Cool!
I just learned so much from this. Acrylic paint was peeling off my sculptures almost immediately. Could not figure out what I did wrong. Might go for a more lime-washed look using a sponge instead of a brush.
Curious if you can recommend any everyday household products to be substituted for the wax and sealer?
Ok so I actually just tried the watered down paint mixture on 4 of my plaster pieces. The mixture stuck to 2 of them. But the other 2 stayed the color of plaster.
Any idea why this happened?

After sealing and painting with Acrylic, do you suggest using varnish to coat the finished project? If so, what do you suggest?
I appreciate the video immensely. I greatly need help with these questions: 1. Acrylic paint: how can you paint it over shellac since acrylic is water based? Is not shellac oil based? (in the video you say 'resin'?). 2. Acrylic paint is used as a stain in this video; I understand that, so you alter normal use of acrylic paint, which normally should never be so severely diluted with water. Dilution removes normal adhesive properties of the paint, which is okay as you show for staining, but it seems it would better to retain the adhesion property, in order to strengthen the plaster. Would it not be better to use the very thin acrylic paint products that are similarly thin/ staining, but retain adhesive properties so as to make the plaster less fragile? (such as acrylic ink + high flow medium; or acrylic high flow paints... & mediums like acrylic airbrush medium)?
That's a very insightful video! I am doing some sculptures using plaster of paris. I want to protect the final sculptures but I want the touch and white color to remain the same. Could you kindly tell me what type of sealant you suggest for that?

I know that adding elmers glue to plaster makes it stronger...would GAC make a better consistency?
Can you paint acrylic paint onto a stained-then-waxed plaster sculpture? I like the way it comes out but I want to add lines of detail or shading with another color paint
I would refrain from waxing. Put some diluted shellac on top to make the plaster less absorbent and then you can use acrylic on top. If you wish afterwards you can apply wax on top of that. Otherwise the wax will resist the paint layer.

Varnish it.
Is it possible to pigment the plaster before sculpting? I’m after a black plaster that as you said respects the integrity of the plaster itself rather than hide it. Hoping you monitor your comments even after 2 years.
For the rectangle plaque that was marbled he said he had pigmented the plaster before pouring it. I’m uncertain what he used to pigment, have not made it through entire video. If you want a rich black you may struggle overcoming the plaster base.
after using acrylic paint then paste wax can i put coats of linseed oil on it to waterproof it??? or can i not paint it a color first

Don't use linseed oil. Use clear shoe polish, or floor wax, after you've painted it.
if you left god out of it i might have watched but i'm not really into voodoo. if god inspires your art then you are redundant, god might as well do it himself.

NEVER, NEVER mix a paint solution with a brush. When one does, thoughtlessly, mix paint with a brush, paint will, through capillary-action, retain un-mixed paint and pockets of water or un-integrated solvent, resulting in a terribly inconsistent application. Moral takeaway: A smock and a beard does not an artist make.
I was surprised by this too and while I wouldn't do it this way myself, I suspect the man, with the lovely beard, was doing it his way. (Or didn't have a mixing stick to hand) 😉

Ummm... did you ever consider a person that is an artist is free to create , AND discover all the possibilities and incidents that are the hallmarks of a true piece of art?... Not craftsmanship my friend, smock or no smock.
