My grandfather traded horses in the early 1900s and as a young girl, my mother showed Tennessee walking horses. Horses were in my blood and I loved them dearly! When I was a teenager, I rode horses with my BFF. We would spend every hour of daylight after school with her horses. When I got married and started my family, there was no more horse riding in my life. My husband was a city boy and didn’t care for horses and there was college and I had to work to help pay the bills. I am now 73 years old and when I look back, not having horses in my adult life is one of my greatest regrets. I yearn to have a soft nose nuzzle me again and to smell the many aromas of a barn, horses and leather. I found your channel about a year ago and Its been a great joy to watch you love and work with your horses. You have filled such a void in my heart and you remind me of my BFF who has been gone from this earth now for a long time. Thank you so much for sharing your horse life on your channel. Don’t ever let it slip away like I did.
If you are still able bodied, you could look into volunteering at a horse rescue in some capacity. I volunteer with a lady in her late 60’s at a horse rescue. It’s so good to keep moving as long as you are able to. Even if you can’t muck stalls, some rescues just need people to come and socialize with animals and get them used to people.
Thx for sharing...love your story. I am 71 & no longer ride but sure miss horses. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with horses though during my younger years. This is a great place to have a connection with horses & those who love them. I noticed the suggestion about being involved in some way with horses/ rescue. Maybe??? Take care. Linda
I am in my mid seventies and have volunteered to help with a riding for the disabled group that is to be set up soon. I stopped riding years ago after an accident. Can't wait to be around horses again. 😊
Good pick, you have a good eye, I think he'll make a real sweet school horse. Love your videos! I really thought that red sorrel horse at the begging was a really pretty horse, among others...
The balance of his body makes him look like one of the most fancy to me in a way though. PLus his color is one of the nicer for a quarter horse with the light body and very dark points.
I don’t know why, but I got all teary when I saw that you got him! Probably because I know he is 15 and will now have such a good home, and he will get the attention he deserves. Even if you end up moving him along, I know you will make sure he gets another good home.
Me too, also I'm sure the auctioneer said he had been with the previous owner for most of his life and to be 15 years old and suddenly moving to a new home, thank heavens he is going to FSE. 😍
@@lorraineyoung102 yeah, I think the auctioneer said he'd been with his previous owner his whole life (hence I hope Shae allows him to keep his previous name seeing he's come from a good home). I hope the previous owner wasn't forced to get rid of him (I cried too but wondered if there was some kind of energy of sadness there around him, I didn't feel like happy tears around it, I think I may have been feeling something else around him...heart ache)
At the rescue I volunteered at, the quarter horses were the ones that were like puppy dogs following you around and hoping for head scratches with a dorky smile look on their faces. It's hard not to like them! Plus they were the least likely to stomp on you, kick or bite, even when scared. However if you are not herding cattle, those tiny feet many of them have can be weak point. For the body, I like the one that got picked out in the video here that has more balance in the size of the legs with the body.
I love to watch the interaction between Kyle and Shae. It makes me smile over and over again. She always asks Kyle, "What do you rhink?" "Do you like him?". And he is always patient and kind when he says, No!! 😂😂❤❤❤
I think Kyle is just reminding Shae that they’re at the auction to shop for a horse, not for a pig. I’ve no doubt that when they get a larger piece of property, Shae can get another pig, and a donkey or two if that’s what she wants. 😊

I was able to read his papers by freezing that part of the video. He looks like he’s got old Timey, quarter horse bloodlines, not the ones that (in my experience) are not nearly as athletic as the traditional bloodlines.

It's always nice to see Kyle on camera...He is strong, calm, and stoic with a touch of loving bemusement, the perfect complement to your bubbly energy, chattiness and enthusiasm for the life you have chosen to build together. Shae, the young riders you school are lucky to have such a good role model. Enough fangirling, eh? Names...Hmmm...how about Maurice from Beauty and the Beast...pronounced in the English way: Morris. Every one I've known named Maurice has been kind, gentle, intelligent and the best of companions. Love the calendar! I ordered one for a friend who breeds Thoroughbreds and loves equine paraphernalia/collectibles.
I know one thing: when she says repeatedly “ I’m drawn to that horse & I have a good feeling in my gut about him/her. “ I trust Shae’s instincts & judgment when fighting for a horse during bidding! ❤😊 I have always had amazing experiences on quarter horses & quarter horse crosses. They are sensible, intelligent, good work ethic, & really take care of you when you’re with them .❤❤❤❤ Congrats on your beautiful boy ! ❤😊
I just ordered your calendar, and I rarely order anything online. I'm a city gal and know nothing about horses and was forced onto one at age 5 to have my picture taken at a birthday party. I was terrified to be near a horse after that. Unfortunately, now that I'm an old lady, I will never have a positive experience on a horse in this lifetime. However, I am so thrilled to have found your channel, fallen in love with you and your heard, and can learn all about your horses. I love to watch the training and of course, the auctions, but most of all I love the trail rides. I really feel that I'm riding the trail. Thank you so much for giving me this experience and for doing the work you do.
I gave a little golf clap when the sale went your way. That horse is gonna be a great addition to the FSE herd. 👏🏼🐴👍🏼 This auction was much more pleasant to watch than the previous auction that had the Percherons and draft show horses with the cropped tails and weighted shoes.
Omagawd, why did I cry when you won this horse? Maybe because I know he will have a soft landing with you and I get to see him grow and become part of the herd... The horse girl in me is so excited for you! Thank you for sharing!! ❤️🐴
I’m glad that you were able to find him and I especially appreciate the fact that you weren’t turned off by his age like I’ve seen a lot of people in social media say that they wouldn’t buy a horse over 10-12 years old. If people take care of them and give them proper nutrition and exercise and medical attention like you do they can give someone a lot more years. 😊
If I were one of your students, I’d be “can I ride him? “ of course any of your horses would make me happy! Due to medical issues I had to stop many things decades ago. I really enjoy going in along with you, thank you. 💕
Yes! ; and being a QH, he can EASILY give her another 10 years...Atleast! And if she keeps him, he'll be with FSE until the end of his days, because she won't sell an old horse! One of the reasons I love Shae ❤; because I truly HATE people who sell their 20+ old companions, because they're "too old"!!! How dare they!!! 🤬😡😤😢😭💔 That's why, I want to have a "retirement farm" for "senior horses". Don't "throw away"/sell your old horse!! Most of them end up in the slaughter pipeline 😢 And if you decide to instead "put down" your old horse; BE THERE FOR THEM !; and let the last human face they see, feel and smell, be YOURS! Atleast look at their body, so that you KNOW FOR SURE!! Don't just "hand them over to the transport guy"! EVERY ANIMAL YOU'VE OWN OR OWNED, deserv that courtesy!! "Lol...a big rant but I feel very passionately about this subject. ❤
@@emmanx011 I totally agree and I kinda am running a retirement facility since all four of mine are seniors: 30 year old Spotted Saddle; 26 year old MFT; 24 year old MFT and then 22 year old Clydesdale.😊
I had an Arab-Quarterhorse mare who I loved. Arabs are the best. They will bond with you like no other breed. He’s got a dishy face and high tail carriage……so flashy. Congratulations! 🎉
Oh wow! That's a beautiful name 😍 (Chip...or Dale...or Chippendale...lol; popped into MY head!; but it might had been because I live in Las Vegas, and I miss the "Chippendale-Boyz" 🤪
That's the prettiest quarter horse I've seen! I'm usually also not so taken by them, but this one... 😮Yes, I understand why he's coming home with you guys, what a sweet aura, and absolutely gorgeous! (And I also see the "arabian shimmer" haha, I would not have been surprised if he would have been a mix) Congratulations on this new FSE member ❤
I think Aladdin would be a nice name for this wonderful boy. But regardless of what name you pick, I know it will be perfect for him and he's going to be so happy living with you ❤
You made the BEST choice! 15 is a great age. He looks sweet and calm and I know he'll fit right in with your horses and your program. He's not a big bulky quarter horse, which I like. Congratulations! 😀 🩷
I am a real fan of Appendix Quarterhorses. I had three. All were very kind and sweet and smart. My last one ended up as a mounted police horse, he was so chill. I am looking forward to seeing how he fits in with your herd. Thank you for sharing your day at the sale. I can see why making a choice was so hard, but you clearly had goals for this horse, which I think he will meet. I'll be getting a calendar!
YAY!!! My daughter, Rachel was able to get my calendar for me! Im SO EXCITED!!! Thank you, Shae, for making this available to us - your loyal Fans! 🥰💝🐎💞🐴🥳 And Yes- I do believe you made a fantastic choice with your new horse! He reminds me so much of a registered Quarter Horse I saw in a parade years ago. He had the head and face of an Arabian - I was shocked to find out that he wasn't at least part Arabian.
So glad you went back to him. He is special. I wish you had shown us the registration papers so we could see his parentage. He looks to me like more of an old-timey quarter horse, not modern kind with overdeveloped muscles, heavy on the forehand. He seems quite athletic. I love his head. His eye is very kind. And his manners are terrific. I think he’ll fit right into your program.
Just carefully pause the video at the point where Kyle holds up the Registration Papers... you can read about "BETHS TEXAS HOLDEM" etc. at 30:50... what a SUPER addition to FSE.😉
I love, love, love the gorgeous Quarter horse you brought home from the horse sale today! He is so sweet and obviously is already drawn to both you and Kyle! Quarter horses are absolutely my favorite horse breed and this guy is such a beautiful example ... so far in every way. I'm so excited to see how he works out for FSE and your programs. I can't wait to see what you name him!
This is a very Blessed horse to be able to go home with you Shae. Obviously he will be loved in an extraordinary way. I'm glad you got him. I'm a Quarter horse gal myself. I just love him.he is a great choice! Congratulations! 💖💕
Love the new horse 💙 his white stripe on his nose is gonna look so cute when you do your close up videos A big thank you for the calendars 💙 looking forward to the photography
Congratulations! He is a beautiful horse - my favorite on this video! I am glad that you got him. He seems like he will be perfect for your program, and will fit in nicely with your herd. Since he is 15, you may want to call him "Dug" after the dog that saved the day in Disney's movie 'Up', which was premiered 15 years ago.
His confirmation is nigh perfect. He has beautiful balance and lovely spirit. Plus, he's sweet And beautiful. A little jealous, but happy for you and this lovely boy!
Congratulations! I was waiting for you to be outbid with that last push from the owner. I was holding my breath...now I can breathe again. What a beautiful boy!
I'm glad you are giving a Quarter horse a chance. I have rode quite a few different breeds. I love my Quarter horses. They are so kind, versatile, and there are so many builds and colors. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. 🥰
I was screaming!!! Congratulations to the latest member of Free Spirit Equestrian! I really like him, too. And I could see why you were drawn to him. There were a lot of really nice looking horses. He does have a more quiet beauty. I am so excited to see how he will be doing at FSE! He is one lucky horse to go home with you…
He is a beauty! And seems like a great fit for both you and Kyle. Felt kinda sad for him as he was loading into the trailer, and then I remembered how much love was awaiting him at Free Spirit. Can't wait to see the name you and Kyle chose for him.
The fact that you kept going back to him says a lot. I call it the back of the brain. Even to the extent of touching the occipital bone. When that talks to you, Listen. (Occipital lobe is the heart of visual activity & processing.) There was a weird, cool, but almost sad moment when Kyle was walking him to the trailer. I *heard* the horse "Oh, so I'm going with you now." I think he's going to be so surprised & happy when he gets to his new home & sees where he's landed. Give him the love & attention I think he's been craving. He's ready for it.
This boy looks like a horse that is perfect for your students. Just all around lovely; you’ll probably have to polish him up a bit, but you won’t be working yourself/him ragged getting him ready for the summer season. He’s very handsome as well 👍❗️
NEW FAVOURITE HORSE HAS ENTERED THE CHAT - Shae I'm obsessed with him. I think he is going to be amazing for your program and I really hope to see him show with your students because I think his movement is so nice, even and has a great cadence. Absolutely beautiful.
❤😅❤The new horse is stunning. Watching his response to your touch and voice shows to me that he was the right horse. When you mentioned that he had an Arabian look, I thought of the name Aladdin. ❤😅❤❤😅

Lora Lee, if you haven’t already seen one of the beach rides, I think you’ll love that, too. 👍🏼
@@ronsamborski6230 Great suggestion. 😊 L
@@Linda-fz1uf If I remember correctly, the beach rides usually are in November, so that might be happening within the next few weeks. 🐎
I gave a little golf clap when the sale went your way. That horse is gonna be a great addition to the FSE herd. 👏🏼🐴👍🏼
This auction was much more pleasant to watch than the previous auction that had the Percherons and draft show horses with the cropped tails and weighted shoes.
He looks so sweet and steady. Your students will love him!
I just love your new horse. Beautiful and such a sweet soul. Enjoy.
That bidding was a real nail biter. The suspense was killing! Congratulations on the new addition to FSE. He looks such a sweet natured fellow. 🥰🥰
I liked him the moment i saw him. He won the jackpot!
Absolutely gorgeous!! He is so calm, and I think he will be great! Love his color!! ❤😊❤
Lovely ❤❤ I am so happy this 15 year old Gentleman got a new Family, and you got him, he is so beautiful, I just love him ❤
Omagawd, why did I cry when you won this horse? Maybe because I know he will have a soft landing with you and I get to see him grow and become part of the herd... The horse girl in me is so excited for you! Thank you for sharing!! ❤️🐴
I’m glad that you were able to find him and I especially appreciate the fact that you weren’t turned off by his age like I’ve seen a lot of people in social media say that they wouldn’t buy a horse over 10-12 years old. If people take care of them and give them proper nutrition and exercise and medical attention like you do they can give someone a lot more years. 😊
Yes...look at Auntie Bagheera. 😊 L
That's why, I want to have a "retirement farm" for "senior horses".
Don't "throw away"/sell your old horse!!
Most of them end up in the slaughter pipeline 😢
And if you decide to instead "put down" your old horse; BE THERE FOR THEM !; and let the last human face they see, feel and smell, be YOURS!
What an absolute gorgeous boy! I am so happy you got him and can't wait to see his journey with you! 😍
Same here!!!
😇
I had an Arab-Quarterhorse mare who I loved. Arabs are the best. They will bond with you like no other breed. He’s got a dishy face and high tail carriage……so flashy. Congratulations! 🎉
I love when you take us along to the horse auctions whether you buy or not. Welcome to your new home #86. My suggestion for a name: ALADDIN
👍😊❤🐎
Aladdin was the first name that popped in my head too for some reason 😄
Me too!! Aladdin fits him so well!!
Like the name Aladin for him.
That also popped into my head, but I think Shae has already had an Aladdin.
Oh wow!
That's a beautiful name 😍
(Chip...or Dale...or Chippendale...lol; popped into MY head!; but it might had been because I live in Las Vegas, and I miss the "Chippendale-Boyz"
🤪
i'm so chuffed you got this guy. ever since he first popped up in the video i was really in love with his kind face
Yup...those eyes... ❤
WAKE UP THE QUEEN HAS POSTED
Yes 🙌
What??? I did not know Belle had her own account?
😂😂😂😂😂

That's the prettiest quarter horse I've seen! I'm usually also not so taken by them, but this one... 😮Yes, I understand why he's coming home with you guys, what a sweet aura, and absolutely gorgeous! (And I also see the "arabian shimmer" haha, I would not have been surprised if he would have been a mix) Congratulations on this new FSE member ❤
I think Aladdin would be a nice name for this wonderful boy. But regardless of what name you pick, I know it will be perfect for him and he's going to be so happy living with you ❤
Oh Shay, he's gorgeous! You can tell he knows you guys are his people!! He just hit the jackpot ❤ and he can feel how good and loving you both are 🎉
I'm 😢crying right now....he is beautiful, and you can feel his soul through the lens...
Well, don't try to steal Kyle away from her.
Oh, wait. Do you mean the horse? Don't try to steal him away from her either.
@@donovanmedieval😂
I think he looks beautiful and has a gentle spirit, you are off to a good start and he moves beautifully. Good luck with him.
You made the BEST choice! 15 is a great age. He looks sweet and calm and I know he'll fit right in with your horses and your program. He's not a big bulky quarter horse, which I like. Congratulations! 😀 🩷
Congratulations! Look forward to watching his welcome to FSE, naming and herd integration!
My heart is so happy that you got him!!❤❤❤
Kyle is obsessed with ponies 😆😆😆 it cracks me up!
Tall me who likes ponies.
Love your new horse 🐎. A Great auction. Thanks so much, was fun.
YAY!!! My daughter, Rachel was able to get my calendar for me! Im SO EXCITED!!!
Thank you, Shae, for making this available to us - your loyal Fans! 🥰💝🐎💞🐴🥳
And Yes- I do believe you made a fantastic choice with your new horse! He reminds me so much of a registered Quarter Horse I saw in a parade years ago. He had the head and face of an Arabian - I was shocked to find out that he wasn't at least part Arabian.
YES!! L
Lol... I was so SURE he was an Arabian-cross!
😂
That sweet face and those kind eyes... ❤❤❤
So glad you went back to him. He is special. I wish you had shown us the registration
papers so we could see his parentage.
If I read it correctly; he DOES seems to have "Old Timey-bloodlines"!
Good eye 😊
He's such a good boy, such kind eyes and so willing to do what you ask him. What a beautiful sweet boy. ❤❤❤
The Shae connection happens again. He already likes you! Congrats
Your new boy is beautiful. Shae...You can see the love you have for your horses. He doesn't know it yet but, I think he won the lottery.
This is so fun thank you for taking us along😊
Gorgeous.. He is so chilled. Enjoy. 💛
No way!!! I think he’s gonna be such a good fit to the program❤ you made the right decision!❤😊
This boy already knows how lucky he is. Love how he nuzzled you and leaned into you. He knows! Congratulations on your new baby. :-)
Love that!
I think I like DUG! 😍
Isn't Up a Pixar movie? I know Disney owns Pixar, but it was still produced by Pixar.
Dug! What's his registeted name?
@@leavrhovec4992 Yes, it was, but so was Toy Story and a few others.
What a beautiful horse, and he seems so sweet natured. He has no idea how fortunate he is. Oh, happy day! 🥰🥰🥰
Another lucky horse joins the FSE herd❤
Congratulations to all.
Seems like a very sweet horse. Congratulations. You always pick beautiful ones, so it goes without saying.
He is so perfect and just the right horse for your lessons and trail rides.
Yep...think so.😊 L
@@DiannaGutoski Agreed!
You won the auction....He won the lottery...Beautiful..🐎
I'm glad you are giving a Quarter horse a chance. I have rode quite a few different breeds. I love my Quarter horses. They are so kind, versatile, and there are so many builds and colors. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. 🥰
I think they will like him a lot. 😊 L
He is SO pretty Shae!! Congratulations!!!
I was screaming!!! Congratulations to the latest member of Free Spirit Equestrian! I really like him, too. And I could see why you were drawn to him. There were a lot of really nice looking horses. He does have a more quiet beauty. I am so excited to see how he will be doing at FSE! He is one lucky horse to go home with you…
@@ninakaiser2930 My Foundation Quarter Horse is 18, but has always been pretty chill. He is a find, that is for sure!
(Occipital lobe is the heart of visual activity & processing.)
There was a weird, cool, but almost sad moment when Kyle was walking him to the trailer.
He’s very handsome as well 👍❗️
I couldn’t wait to find out so I had to see the comments first to see if she got him or not!! HES GORGEOUS ABSOLUTE STUNNING
HaHaHa - Same
I do the same, lol
Good heavens! I'm so addicted to your auction videos. Great job on getting this horse, he will be so well cared for at your farm.
He's so handsome and calm. He's fond of you too, so won't be too homesick. He seens like he'll fit in nicely wirh your herd.
NEW FAVOURITE HORSE HAS ENTERED THE CHAT - Shae I'm obsessed with him. I think he is going to be amazing for your program and I really hope to see him show with your students because I think his movement is so nice, even and has a great cadence. Absolutely beautiful.
That was nerve wracking!! Glad you won, he looks like a very good boy, he'll be a great addition to your herd😊
That beautiful horse has just won the lottery…. Congratulations
He is a beaut. Shae, you have an eye for horse flesh. Congrats.
Congrats! The new horse seems like such a sweetheart
❤😅❤The new horse is stunning. Watching his response to your touch and voice shows to me that he was the right horse. When you mentioned that he had an Arabian look, I thought of the name Aladdin. ❤😅❤❤😅
