    First off, let me say sorry for the crickets! I filmed this video at night out in my shop to escape the 100 degree summer heat and the crickets had no mercy on me.
    On to the review, we are very impressed with this machine. There is no other plasma cutter on the market that has pilot-arc and dual voltage capabilities with this kind of power for less than $500.The build quality is surprisingly good (with the pilot-arc cable being the only exception). This machine is great for weekend warriors and at home users who are not looking to break the bank on a name brand machine from Hypertherm or Miller. The performance speaks for itself and I think this video does a good job at showing just how powerful this machine is.
    The next step up from this machine is the Hobart 27i: amzn.to/2JUYn3J or the Hypertherm Powermax30 XP: amzn.to/2XXfsif
    We did a performance video on the Powermax30 XP as well: • Hypertherm Powermax 30...
    These machines are going to cost you more, but you are also getting a higher quality machine that can withstand daily abuse in a professional environment. You are also paying for the customer service and larger parts availability from these larger brands. For example the Hypertherm Powermax30 XP has optional fine tip consumables that can be used in certain applications. Little developments like this tend to add to the price of the machine.
    Overall, if you're on a budget the LOTOS LTP5000D is an amazing machine and will blow your socks off for the price.

    I got one of these April 2019 on sale at Home Depot and it is great for what I need. I do a lot of i " and 2" square tubing cutting and notching and seldom need to cut anything 1/4 or thicker.

    Sounds like a primeweld employee knocking the competition lol I bought the machine in January of 2023 no issues except they send with a 30 amp plug calling it a 50 amp machine…but being a electrician that’s my hang up…built a smoker out of a 250 gallon propane tank
    No issues…would recommend this machine to my sons….that’s the best recommendation in my view!!!!
    Cut 3/8 inches on 120 volts 20 amps 3/4 inches on 220 volts 50 amps

    I’ve had this cutter for 2 years now. For the price, can’t complain. Certainly faster than a cut off wheel.

    Great review Dylan. Thank you. I'm curious about the red Suncoo cutter with pilot arc. Seems to have similar features as the Lotos for approximately $150 less. I haven't seen any reviews on this yet and wondering if it's any good? Hope you do a video on it sometime. Thanks.

      Chobie Frank I have not had this machine in my hands yet, so I cannot comment on its exact performance. From what I can see the Sunoco was released in April of this year so it’s new to the market. This is common as these cheaper Chinese machines show up and disappear rather quickly. Many of them are the same machines matched with different components and branded differently.
      I would recommend spending the extra $150 for a number of reasons. The Lotos has been around since 2011 and has a proven track record. Secondly, I like how heavy duty the Lotos torch is compared to that of the Suncoo’s. Third, Lotos comes pre-wired with a plug and has a 110v adapter available. Lastly, I don’t like the external air hoses on the back of the Suncoo machine. I see those being prone to failure.
      I hope this helps. If I am able to get my hands on one I will do a full review.

    Hey Dylan, I know this is kinda an old video, but can I ask you a question? I'm leaning toward buying the Lotos LT5000D (the non pilot-arc cousin to the pilot-arc machine you're reviewing in this vid. Is the LT5000D the exact same machine except for the pilot arc? If so, do you recommend it as strongly as you do the LTP5000D?

    • @Maddy78839
      @Maddy78839 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pilot arc makes everything so much easier but it's not necessary

    • @Maddy78839
      @Maddy78839 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @r2d23678 I think I'm going on six years now. I have a oxy but this makes cutting stainless and aluminum much less messy. The pilot arc helps a bit in my experience establishing the cut through paint and some rust. Of course it's always best to clean your work but heck that's why I got it.
      I've cut everything just about up to 3/8 maybe half a inch thick steel. It wasn't really clean at that thickness. I made sure to cut a bit at a time and not push the machine. I guess that's why it's lasted so long.
      It's great for the price. make sure to buy extra consumables especially the ceramic pink nozzle and every so often make sure everything is snug on the tip.
      Best wishes

    You call that a little bit of slag on the 1/4 inch cut? I'd call that a lot with oxy acetylene. Might not be the machines fault though. Looked like the torch was pretty high and the travel speed a little low.

    Dylan...Great review. The New Brown case LTP5000D appears to be an excellent performing machine. I like the visible air gauge/adjustment upfront and the excellent torch. but I am hearing too many horror stories of extremely poor /totally unresponsive customer service from Lotos. I am also not impressed with the requirement of a purchaser to prepay $69 shipping both ways for a defective machine still within the 1 yr warranty. And if a defective machine is replaced...it is replaced with a refurbished machine on which there is no warranty. The fact too that the prices have increased by $100 in the last six months does not help. Great machine but enough bad customer support reviews and questionable warranty policies to make me look at a PrimeWeld Cut-50DP with Pilot Arc for $399 delivered from Amazon. A Three-year PrimeWeld warranty, excellent customer service reputation, a better torch for gloved hands IMO, and a delivered price over $70 less than the Lotos LTP5000D that has a One year warranty and historically poor customer service. Plus expendables for the PrimeWeld are more affordable.

      I just wanted to give a similar anecdotal comment. I think from 3 years ago they have since turned this around. I had probably one of the best warranty/customer exchanges with a company that I've had in my life...and I mainly have snapon tools... Recently i bought this exact plasma cutter, but for a few years ive had a lotos TIG/stick machine. The welder managed to break (stop adjusting amperage what so ever) about 3 weeks outside of its warrenty. I called lotos, they knew exactly what the problem was, and sent me a brand new control board for the machine FREE OF CHARGE. It arrived in about 2 days.
      I havent received that good customer service from a non-walk-in-mom-and-pop place in FOREVER. I"m impressed.

      I have Lotos LTP5000D and Miller 50 Amp plasma cutter in my shop. Miller cutting 1" steel base plate easy. Lotos cutting 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" very dirty with proper settings. I recommend spend $1000 and get really good plasma cutter. The lotos torch nose is sitting too close to the cutting steel. Manufacture made it like that to ad ability to cut more steel, but this is killing all tips, center rods and insulator. You are not able to adjust the distance between the metal and torch tip. Think twice before purchasing this equipment

    That is NOT a "really really clean" cut on 1/4 material. A good clean cut should NOT have that much slag on the exit side of the cut. And you can clearly see how bad the arc is deflecting on the exit side of the cut. On a good cut, you should be able to knock off the slag with your welding glove, or a light tap from a chipping hammer... you should NOT have to use a grinder to remove slag on a good cut, ESPECIALLY on material that thin! Here's another tip for you, if you really want to properly test a plasma cutter, NEVER make a cut so close to the end of the material, you are creating a pre-heating condition because the HAZ has no material to bleed into. I can clearly see your drop piece getting red hot. That's probably why you are getting so much slag and such bad deflection on the exit side. Also, what is the kerf width? A cut that bad is probably also due to the nozzle bore being too big (poorly designed and manufactured consumables)... cut kerf on 1/4 inch material should be no more than 3/32 tops, preferably 1/16... anything wider is creating WAY too much heat and a really wide HAZ... you might as well be using an oxy/acetylene torch. Another tip... if you are going to test cuts on different thickness materials you should ACTUALLY use that thickness material... NEVER stack material when cutting with a plasma cutter!!! Stacking material creates air spaces that allow the plasma to bleed sideways away from your kerf, creating lousy cuts... and stacked material behaves completely differently in terms of HAZ. I really don't know where you "learned" your "fabrication skills", but you should really know what you are doing before making videos and disseminating your ignorance and bad habits to others.
    NOTE TO EVERYONE: Make sure you read all the bad reviews on this machine before you buy one... HUNDREDS of these machines either arrive DOA, or they crap out after only a few uses... and you have to pay a hefty fee for 2 way shipping on repairs even if the machine is still in warranty... and that's only if you can manage to contact their support.... so your "$500" machine can end up costing you a lot more if you have to send it in for repair... and the machine you get back will have a "refurb" status, so your warranty will no longer be in effect once you send the original unit in for repair. DO NOT believe all the "good" reviews on Amazon... most of them are from paid shills trying to boost this crap product's ratings.
