I want to second this, Ivy. I did some angelology research several years ago, and ended up learning that people often end up contacting Thoth when attempting to reach Raziel. When I did so, the very terse reply I received was very similar to the outcome of your reading. Your level of intent and dedicated labor will make an impact.
I've been on the Kemetic path for a year and a half now. Aset and Set are who I work with. Even with endless research and practice, I've barely touched the treasure beneath the sands. I've not worked with Thoth (yet) but now how important his role is. For your first Egyptian God, you have certainly picked the smartest one. He is constantly asked for help by the other powerful Neteru. I have been working on a year long project and have been told I must present myself before him at the end of it. Now you have opened that door, I would not be suprised if other Egyptian Gods flock to you. They use me to communicate with others. Try "The Book of Doors Oracle" for working with them. Although Set has never been rude to me, he can definitely be as straightforward. I think many Egyptian gods can be blunt.
He made himself known to me at one point in my life when I asked who my divine parent is. numerology and astrology also solidified that stamp. Thoth is a wonderful deity to work with. I love Him so much.

This is really fascinating to see how someone starts to work with a particular deity. I've worked with Thoth and the "personality" in the responses matches my experiences. IMO the Thoth deck is a damn good deck regardless of what you think about Crowley. It makes the Qabalalistic and astrological aspects of Tarot way more explicit than RWS. BTW, your hieroglyphic runes look awsome.

You make some keen points. I started daily devotions for Thoth about 40 years ago after like 10 years of largely independent research. He always made sure I had at least one native Egyptian friend to help reconnect with Maat, being in a Norse body, this time.

Thoth introduced himself to me a few months back. He is very straightforward, every time we meet in the Astral he is extremely loving and caring once you establish a relationship with him. Pay attention to 22, 44, and 144. Tip: listen to the Emerald Tablets while you sleep, and he most likely will show up to teach you a lesson consciously or unconsciously in the Astral

I’ve been researching divination systems and really like the idea of making a Magpie Oracle set. Basically it’s like casting lots but you choose the items/trinkets and assign meanings for each one. I feel like processes like these creates a stronger intuitive bond between the practitioner and the divination tool.

I've worked with Isis in my practices-- the whole "f--k around and find out" vibe seems very common (from my experience). I love that you recorded this. Very insightful. I’m a sixth generation witch my daughter and sons are the 7th and my grandchildren are now the 8th generation. When I was a pre teen I inherited my great grandmother and great aunts conjure bags and Grimoires. In my great aunts was a rough draft of three of Alister Crowleys Thoth deck along with the full deck with his signature and three hand sketches one made out to my great aunt Marilla. I left my coven and village and moved to nyc where I put my stuff in storage because my apt was a shoe box. Three months in my storage unit was robbed 😐. They took everything obviously and later I learned how precious and valuable and one of a kind the items were 😢🥺 i morn them still.

Loved your video and I have to say that I too for the last 3 months have been working with Thoth. I am actually able to connect with him through the Thoth Tarot and find him very communicative. Another thing I found extremely interesting was when you said that when you work with deities that they tell you not to speak about them. Find this fascinating, simply because the two deities Gaia and Thoth have wanted me to speak of them freely almost to the point where they were giving me the knowledge so that people wouldn't forget them. Yeah, that tarot reading in the beginning is so in the spirit of Thoth. You took advantage of the summer solstice energy, which makes it easier to contact a lot of the Egyptian pantheon. Also, writing your book would be an excellent act of dedication to Thoth.
The deity I work with also doesnt like to be named. So I get the feeling. I've introduced them to a fellow witch and my fellow witch backed off immediately. My deity was too scary for them. Too powerful. It made them confront things about themselves that they didnt want to acknowledge. And that's what my deity is all about. The shadow work. I hate it sometimes but I get it. Cant work witha deity if you arent true to yourself.
I continue to learn so much from you. The Egyptian theme always comes up for me the few times I have done any kind of altered state practice so this was very inspiring Ivy... I have the desire to work with deities again but I keep saying yes to things that get in the way of doing the work. I’ve recently started using tarot & oracle cards to communicate with deity. I buy specific decks that are just for each deity. I can feel the cards in the same way you describe here. The messages I get are often blunt (but apt) not as rude as your first message was though 😅 Well not yet! I did tend altars to the 3 deities for a few months before attempting direct contact. I love the river stone oracle you created ❤ So happy for you that they worked so well 🎉

I work with bastet mostly as far as deities. Yes, the egyptian deities can be difficult to work with, that is until they decide they really like, then its like a freight train. I have multiple alters because i do multiple things. I have a hearth in my room that is more for my nature based practice, my actual hearth in the dining room is for my more domestic magic, but my bastet alter is for my more complicated things. I find my spells and work i do with bastet always gives me immediate, kind of over the top results. This kitty is feirce when it comes to protecting women and children lol. For example, my husband had a female coworker who was flirty, but all of a sudden she really focused on him. So i did sort of a marriage protection spell. Nothing against her, she seems nice, my husband and i are just that kind of couple who dont like others flirting with us, and it was making him uncomfortable. Well, within a few days, she gave her 2 weeks notice. Now, i was very specific in the fact that i didn't want anything bad to happen to her, and she got a way better job with higher pay, so good for her. Another one, someone had lied and blamed my husband for something he didn't do. He actually went on a whole rant to the executive team, including the ceo. Well, we didn't know this had happened because they couldn't find anything wrong my husband had done, so they just didn't tell him, and handled it quietly. Well we found out about it 6 months later, and i was so angry this guy tried to get him fired, that i did a banishment with bastet. A week later, the guy got fired because one of the vp's found out he hadn't been doing his job (the big thing he said my husband dropped the ball on was actually his fault the whole time and had nothing to do with my husband). Then my husband got a promotion and a pay raise. She's also helped my autistic son stop getting bullied at school, and now all of the girls in school really want to be his friend and defend him against all of the boys. So, like i said, they are very stand offish until they really want to help you, and then the results will be pretty crazy and almost overnight.

It's so crazy to hear Thoths auto rejection. I had the nearly exact response from Hecate 🤣 I never talked out loud about it because I was so confused/hurt at first. She did come back a few months later and explain, and I fully understood where she was coming from. I now leave her offerings, but as a gesture, not to work with her. I solely work with Isis and we are the perfect pair 💕
I've personally found Thoth to be very difficult to connect with... and when I did, I found him terrifying (and I've worked with the likes of Set and Baba Yaga). He feels alien, very cold, almost reptilian... and every interaction with him feels transactional. Not because he wants me to give him stuff necessarily, but because everything is a mind game with him - not is ever given unless it's earned, and it's like with those cultures where extenuating haggling is part of being polite. That said, he loosened up a little in time... I even overheard him humming a song once!

I highly recommend checking out the work of Rev. Zemmi (aka Zemaemidjehuty), as well as The Church of Flesh and Feather's podcast where Rev. Zenmi does vowel intonation meditations dedicated to Thoth. Some of them get me really deep into trance.
For me, we utilize these archetypes as ourselves. Higher beings don't need our worship or energy. To work with Thoth, it could be us being that archetype. I'm unsure how to explain 😩 By creating your own divination, that is being creative. And how we create in our life and stay active working on ourselves embodies our own archetype. Good you felt him leave 😅 alot of beings mimic other deities and take our energy.

About the incense, there are some recipes but a common and hopefully accessible to you is frankincense, I know there are more complicated recipes that I heard about, but that requires some decent research. About offering...this is not from a book, but from my intuition... see what the Deity is personified as, and see what this bird/animal/reptile... likes ;) it's symbolic so you can't go wrong IMHO! Generally it's good to trust that there is a right time... maybe with dedication he meant to learn about the context of his teachings... so you can understand If you're wondering about the secrecy of the situation there is a related text: "Remember that the law of mystery veils the great truth. Total knowledge can be revealed only to our brethren who have gone through the same trials as ourselves." so yea, it takes dedication... and the way to the great truth is meant to be that way if you need a book to start with, let me know Best

This is really fascinating to see how someone starts to work with a particular deity. I've worked with Thoth and the "personality" in the responses matches my experiences. IMO the Thoth deck is a damn good deck regardless of what you think about Crowley. It makes the Qabalalistic and astrological aspects of Tarot way more explicit than RWS. BTW, your hieroglyphic runes look awsome.

You make some keen points. I started daily devotions for Thoth about 40 years ago after like 10 years of largely independent research. He always made sure I had at least one native Egyptian friend to help reconnect with Maat, being in a Norse body, this time.

Thoth introduced himself to me a few months back. He is very straightforward, every time we meet in the Astral he is extremely loving and caring once you establish a relationship with him. Pay attention to 22, 44, and 144.
Tip: listen to the Emerald Tablets while you sleep, and he most likely will show up to teach you a lesson consciously or unconsciously in the Astral

I love this so much ❤ I think creating your own divination system is a great idea in general. I think there’s a lot of magick that goes into that process. I’ve been researching divination systems and really like the idea of making a Magpie Oracle set. Basically it’s like casting lots but you choose the items/trinkets and assign meanings for each one. I feel like processes like these creates a stronger intuitive bond between the practitioner and the divination tool.

I’m a sixth generation witch my daughter and sons are the 7th and my grandchildren are now the 8th generation. When I was a pre teen I inherited my great grandmother and great aunts conjure bags and Grimoires. In my great aunts was a rough draft of three of Alister Crowleys Thoth deck along with the full deck with his signature and three hand sketches one made out to my great aunt Marilla. I left my coven and village and moved to nyc where I put my stuff in storage because my apt was a shoe box. Three months in my storage unit was robbed 😐. They took everything obviously and later I learned how precious and valuable and one of a kind the items were 😢🥺 i morn them still.

Loved your video and I have to say that I too for the last 3 months have been working with Thoth. I am actually able to connect with him through the Thoth Tarot and find him very communicative. Another thing I found extremely interesting was when you said that when you work with deities that they tell you not to speak about them. Find this fascinating, simply because the two deities Gaia and Thoth have wanted me to speak of them freely almost to the point where they were giving me the knowledge so that people wouldn't forget them. If that makes sense. Love your videos as always and the communication you create.

Yeah, that tarot reading in the beginning is so in the spirit of Thoth. You took advantage of the summer solstice energy, which makes it easier to contact a lot of the Egyptian pantheon. Also, writing your book would be an excellent act of dedication to Thoth.

The deity I work with also doesnt like to be named. So I get the feeling. I've introduced them to a fellow witch and my fellow witch backed off immediately. My deity was too scary for them. Too powerful. It made them confront things about themselves that they didnt want to acknowledge. And that's what my deity is all about. The shadow work. I hate it sometimes but I get it. Cant work witha deity if you arent true to yourself.

I’ve recently started using tarot & oracle cards to communicate with deity. I buy specific decks that are just for each deity. I can feel the cards in the same way you describe here. The messages I get are often blunt (but apt) not as rude as your first message was though 😅

I work with bastet mostly as far as deities. Yes, the egyptian deities can be difficult to work with, that is until they decide they really like, then its like a freight train. I have multiple alters because i do multiple things. I have a hearth in my room that is more for my nature based practice, my actual hearth in the dining room is for my more domestic magic, but my bastet alter is for my more complicated things. I find my spells and work i do with bastet always gives me immediate, kind of over the top results. This kitty is feirce when it comes to protecting women and children lol. For example, my husband had a female coworker who was flirty, but all of a sudden she really focused on him. So i did sort of a marriage protection spell. Nothing against her, she seems nice, my husband and i are just that kind of couple who dont like others flirting with us, and it was making him uncomfortable. Well, within a few days, she gave her 2 weeks notice. Now, i was very specific in the fact that i didn't want anything bad to happen to her, and she got a way better job with higher pay, so good for her. Another one, someone had lied and blamed my husband for something he didn't do. He actually went on a whole rant to the executive team, including the ceo. Well, we didn't know this had happened because they couldn't find anything wrong my husband had done, so they just didn't tell him, and handled it quietly. Well we found out about it 6 months later, and i was so angry this guy tried to get him fired, that i did a banishment with bastet. A week later, the guy got fired because one of the vp's found out he hadn't been doing his job (the big thing he said my husband dropped the ball on was actually his fault the whole time and had nothing to do with my husband). Then my husband got a promotion and a pay raise. She's also helped my autistic son stop getting bullied at school, and now all of the girls in school really want to be his friend and defend him against all of the boys. So, like i said, they are very stand offish until they really want to help you, and then the results will be pretty crazy and almost overnight.

I've always been attracted to Underworld/Otherworldly/Death Deities, since I started my path...think I will read up on some more, plus am planning on making my own Ogham Set, in the future, and you have got me thinking of making them and having g them being blessed in Samhain or the Full Moon in Oct.

It's so crazy to hear Thoths auto rejection. I had the nearly exact response from Hecate 🤣 I never talked out loud about it because I was so confused/hurt at first. She did come back a few months later and explain, and I fully understood where she was coming from. I now leave her offerings, but as a gesture, not to work with her. I solely work with Isis and we are the perfect pair 💕
I've personally found Thoth to be very difficult to connect with... and when I did, I found him terrifying (and I've worked with the likes of Set and Baba Yaga). He feels alien, very cold, almost reptilian... and every interaction with him feels transactional. Not because he wants me to give him stuff necessarily, but because everything is a mind game with him - not is ever given unless it's earned, and it's like with those cultures where extenuating haggling is part of being polite. That said, he loosened up a little in time... I even overheard him humming a song once!

For me, we utilize these archetypes as ourselves. Higher beings don't need our worship or energy. To work with Thoth, it could be us being that archetype. I'm unsure how to explain 😩
By creating your own divination, that is being creative. And how we create in our life and stay active working on ourselves embodies our own archetype.

About the incense, there are some recipes but a common and hopefully accessible to you is frankincense, I know there are more complicated recipes that I heard about, but that requires some decent research.
About offering...this is not from a book, but from my intuition... see what the Deity is personified as, and see what this bird/animal/reptile... likes ;) it's symbolic so you can't go wrong IMHO!
Generally it's good to trust that there is a right time... maybe with dedication he meant to learn about the context of his teachings... so you can understand
