  • Is it true that the Bible was chained in the middle ages so that people could not read it?
    .
The Bible was chained in the middle ages to preserved it from destruction and from theft. The church did it to prevent from being stolen. Remember that there were only few Bible that time, and those were hand written furthermore, those bible were very precious due to its scarcity. For example, a Telephone directory is usually tied by the owner so that it will not be brought to other places or misplaced by the users.
    .
Non-Catholics added that the Catholic Church prohibited the people to read the Bible by putting it in the Index of Forbidden Books. That is not true because what were included in the Index are just protestant versions which are lacking of 7 books or erroneous translations. The most popular is the King James Version that Catholics should not use since it has several errors.
    .
Did you know that in History, protestants had also chained the Bible for more than 300 years. Nonetheless, we did not accuse them of prohibiting their members in accessing the Bible.
    .
Non-Catholics had frequently accused the Catholic Church that they burned Bibles so that people could not read it. That is a false accusation. If it is true that the Catholic Church wanted to destroy all Bibles, then she had an ample time to do so for 1,500 years before protestant sects emerged. But why there are still Bible today? The Church is not against sincere and honest translations to vernacular dialect, but to the erroneous translations made by heretics (e.g. Wycliffe and Tyndale). It is necessary to destroy erroneous translations in order the preserved the integrity of the Holy Scripture. If people who read the same bible version have different interpretations to what they had read, how much more to those erroneous and twisted bible translations?
Even in the modern times, the most efficient and practical way to protect the original and legit product is to burn or destroy those fake and imitations which were confiscated by the authorities. This is actually what the King of England did to those erroneous translations made by Wycliffe and Tyndale. The protestant King Henry VIII had ordered the killing of Tyndale because he was condemned as a heretic by the Anglican Church. In addition, it was King Richard II who ordered the burning of bible translation made by Wycliffe, after he was condemned as a heretic by the Catholic Church.
    .
According to history, protestants had also killed and burned bible translations made by their fellow protestant reformers. For example, the protestant King Henry VIII ordered the burning of William Tyndale together with his bible translation. The famous protestant John Calvin also ordered the burning of fellow protestant reformer named Michael Servetus together with his books. Thus, the accusation made by non Catholics had bounced back to them since it was the protestant who killed and burned bible translations made by their fellow protestants. If the bible translations made by Tyndale and Wycliffe were good Bible translations, why no protestant sects are using them today? That is because those bible translations have many errors.
    .
Therefore, this is the truth that protestant sects cannot deny: that the Bible is a Catholic book. Without the Catholic Church, non-Catholics have no Bible to use for their religious business. This is the reason that several non-Catholic pastors had been converted to the Catholic Church, when they learnt that the Bible was compiled by the Catholic Church. If there is no Catholic Church, they don't have Bible to use today.
The Father of Protestantism Martin Luther agreed on it when he acknowledged sincerely in his words:
    .
"We are compelled to concede that without the Catholic Church, we have no knowledge about the word of God (Bible)" Martin Luther
    .
Another famous non Catholic Bible Scholar from the Biblical Archaeology Society named Dr. Peter Flint - the first person to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls in English had also agreed when he said:
🚩"if there is was Catholic Church, we don't have Bible" - Dr. Peter Flint, Ph.D
