Music and the closing frame of the (?) father and son walking on the platform is very cool indeed.

I preferred the original candy colours on the XPT (but not on freight locomotives). Note the cleaners on ladders at 0:57 of days long past before PPE and OH&S were introduced. Interesting to see some seven car sets in your video, a sight seldom seen these days. Great collection Barrie, take a bow!😎👌

Hi Dave, I did too. The countrylink colours always looked wrong to me, and I'm warming to the current colours just in enough time for her replacement. Yeah the cleaners would descend like an army on the Xs arrival, like a well oiled machine.

Nice video. I wonder why they changed the original colour scheme, it was far better than the current one.

The Candy sure was an attractive scheme. The countrylink wasn't too bad though. Thanks for watching

@@trainspottingwithbarrie It doesn’t help that the current design has been around far too long, I’ve really got tired of the blue seat material design I’m afraid. Have you possibly any footage of the interior design / seat cloth design when Candy was on the outside? That contrast of Silver / Black / Orange really worked.

Dervied from the British Rail Class 43.

Yeah the exterior design was heavily influenced by the 43 HST but the engine and bogie design is completely different. Thanks for watching

@@trainspottingwithbarrie The engines used in the XPT, the Paxman Valenta and, latterly, VP185, are the same as used in the HST, albeit derated and with a more powerful cooler group. The XPT power car bogies are very similar to the HST's BP10, again modified for Australian track conditions.
