- Sydney's most iconic train will finally get the upgrade it deserves.
It'll keep our Tangaras in top-shape so you can enjoy a comfortable ride - until the Australian-made Tangara replacement fleet is ready to roll.
Tangaras have the most badass exterior design of a train and the future replacement should look exactly like them

They built a new Sydney motorway that’s only two lanes in each direction. For an area with over 5 million people. They didn’t have enough money.

Tangaras on Illawara line could do with regular clean up of the interiors. The trains are comfortable, but seats and floors are often filthy. Looks like they aren't cleaned in weeks.
Comfortable SEATING on trains would be appreciated ❤

@@veranderingI read from reddit by someone who worked on upgrading the first TTU test sets that the work was far more complicated than anticipated, and apparently each set of the fleet is wired differently, as if they did adhoc work building each set when installing PAs and operational wiring (it could be a matter of them being wired slightly different per delivery stage).
Practically the scope of works would’ve had to be recalculated and it would require more time, more work, more labour and more money, so it was quietly abandoned without mention by the previous government.
It now makes sense to revisit this project as the tangaras do indeed have more life left in them and if the current government are adamant on building the next new train in Australia they’ll have to rely on Tangaras to keep up the work for at least another 12 years (could be longer for G sets that are about 26 years old).

We need new trains to replace the ageing K sets, Tangaras asap and the millennium’s badly need a mid life upgrade.
The Oscar’s will replace the k sets once the nif enters service

@@electro_sykes i know the oscars where getting upgrades with Pid and accoucements similar to the waratahs and they will remove the toilets
They have not yet announced a full refurb for the H or M set trains, although in the H set transition from intercity to suburban, the info displays are being updated to match the lcd displays seen in the b sets as well as id assume other minor tweaks
@@someone-yl1xc I really hope they do soon. They need it badly. Or alternatively they could keep them as they are for another decade then replace them with the new sets replacing the Tangaras alongside them and kill two birds with one stone, I guess?

I don't like its backward seats.
How much money should we put on T4 not seeing any of these improved Tangara's? Now the second ALP government not doing anything about the entire line being underpowered to the point newer trains can't run on it. Huge mess when the Tanagaras are EoL and we all need to walk but that will be well after the end of this government
Just make sure you dont modify them as to make them to wide for station platforms. Give someone a tape measure first.

They said they’re fixing the doors, and the inside will be made nicer, not a full redo as they aren’t completely overhauling everything, just adding enough nice features to last until the replacements come out
They should last another 20 years easy

Sure hope it's not like going from Windows 95 to the latest MacBook lol... maybe that's what they did with the metro and why it's suddenly twice as expensive and not compatible 😂😂
Are we ever going to get faster trains and a better rail network? Even Russia has better trains than ours! China is light years ahead! I’ve traveled on Indonesian trains that are faster and cheaper.
Put K sets on the t4, at least then we would have something else to look at instead of tangaras
Just be greatful you get trains, us people on the Hunter line are lucky to even get a train to turn usually it’s replaced by buses
Some new stock on T4 would be an improvement &@@belchy94 we've just had every weekend in July with maintenance on T4 including a 5 day stretch in between I know what having NO train service is like
@@aquamonkee you guys where lucky to trains rock up on weekday, we don’t get that up here on the Hunter line, we get lucky if one train rocks up
