      @@ppmeasure Good question. Just to be clear, we are not in the junk removal business. I just bought this house with all the junk in it! To clean it out, I contacted a few of our local dumpster companies and explained that we would be needing a LOT of dumpsters. One of the companies I had used before gave me a pretty good deal since we'd be filling up over a dumpster per day for a whole week, so it worked out well!

    This remodel is gorgeous. The gray paint on the walls with the white subway tiles for the backsplash along with the gorgeous cabinetry are really beautiful. Also I think the gray wood laminate flooring complemented those things very nicely. A couple things that I personally didn’t care for though was the natural toned butcher block countertop with the contrasting darker wood that was put on the wall behind it. Other than that it was an amazing makeover. Excellent job!!!

    Your team had a big job cleaning that mess! Taking down the wall was a good plan.
    Here's a few pointers you might consider.
    The grey is too dark and clashes with the steel fridge.
    The oak cabinets were probably made out of better material than the replacements. They could have been cleaned and painted, even slightly rearranged. Some of the doors could have been removed for more of an open feel.
    Installing a microwave above a stove is hazardous. Taking hot food or drinks out of a microwave with stretched out arms almost over your head is a bad idea.
    Installing a dishwasher next to a fridge is poor economics. The heat generated by the dishwasher causes the fridge to work harder to maintain internal temperatures.
    A light fixture that points upward is for ambient lighting. A kitchen needs bright light. The can lights do not provided enough light and the sconce does not add function (nor beauty imho).
    Just some suggestions. Have a great day. 🌷

    As a pack rat myself, I can somewhat understand accumulating tons of STUFF in your house, but I can never grasp how it gets to this point when it’s mostly trash (especially food trash, like dirty paper plates and stuff). It’s really unfortunate when it’s a such a deeply ingrained habit/disorder as this, but I can understand letting it go for so long that it gets to the point that you feel powerless to get it back in shape.

    Admirable work ethic, very unfortunate design choices on remodel. Crap lighting, weird tile stopping at that cheap little porch light over sink, no pantry cupboard though one was removed. Nice to look at, but seems tiny bit more planning would have yielded a better overall kitchen workspace for buyer. Good playback speed & editing, tho. If you're in an area where more expense wouldn't have yielded a better sale price then I understand the choices.

    • @KashFloPro
      @KashFloPro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If this were your house, what would you like to see for lighting (outside of the light above the sink)? It may not show in the video, but it is plenty bright in there! All of the design choices are right in line or better than the other houses in this neighborhood and price range. Thanks for watching!

    • @celestewatson4874
      @celestewatson4874 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KashFloPro good work surface lighting is 'nice to have' for younger buyers, but any aging buyer (40 yrs or more, when presbyopia starts in) values work surface lighting *highly*. A few hundred $ to electrician to wire for LED under cabinet + uplight soffit space lighting. But changing the knee wall into a eat-on bar by extending the countertop toward living room and putting a pendant there would have been another helpful choice, bringing light across kitchen to the surface you've designated for work by making it butcher block. As is, the ceiling fixture will cast the shadow of someone standing there prepping onto whatever they are working on. Same will happen on the other major section of countertop to the right of stove - cook will prep in their own shadow from fixture being behind them. But, again, if this is the most up to date house in its neighborhood, a buyer can get LED puck lights off Amazon for under cabinet lights at least. Thanks for your content, it shows the slow hard work of flipping a neglected house.

    • @KashFloPro
      @KashFloPro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advice! There is actually a 2nd surface light directly above the butcher block, you just can't see it because that's right where I had my camera set up. We added that because, like you said, the main kitchen light would create a shadow on the butcher block. We debated adding the under the cabinet lights, and are still thinking about putting them in our own house which is pretty much the same kitchen as this. I appreciate the feedback!
