I don't often talk about the negatives of travel, because there is so much positivity to share! But truth be told, life of a full time traveler is not always rainbows and ponies. Not at all.
In this video, I open up to you a bit and share why AIRPORTS are the most stressful part of the travel experience for me. Airports are the main driver for my severe anxiety -- because of all the immigration questions, checkpoints, police encounters -- while trying to hide my identity as a TH-camr. Because believe it or not, being a TH-camr (i.e. Journalist) is frowned upon in MANY countries around the world.
Does anyone else out there feel the same about airports? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

Just got back from a month in Kenya and Africa. Truer words were never spoken. Airports and the process absolutely are anxiety inducing! We tried to leave from Los Angeles airport but my EVisa was declined though we had all the paper/digital pass cleared in hand….didn’t frickin’ matter…DECLINED! Missed flight…out money…booked safari waiting 10 thousand miles away. Had to book new flight and safari guide had to bribe someone in Nairobi to fix it. New expensive COVID tests, etc…, etc….transfers, delayed flights, running from terminal to terminal, hurry up and wait. Drew I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND your anxiousness. Takes a certain kind of unique bullheadedness to accomplish what you do. Do you ever find joy in the puzzle solving part of the journey? Keep the videos coming!

Thank you Drew!!!! Your honesty, vulnerability, and courage to share this and to trek on is very appreciated!!!! I, and many others, share your dread of airports. The pandemic stopped me in my tracks. I was headed to 6 months in Eastern Europe in 2020-did not happen. My gypsy spirit feels like it is on death row. I am trying to get motivated in spite of how horrendous airport protocals were and now, during this relentless pandemic I have totally avoided airports, but my spirit is paying a high price for this entrapment. Again, thank you! I hope you make more videos of things such as this...

On a tourist's eyes or a casual traveler, it is probably relaxing. It does become stressful when you rely on airports all the time, even more so when you visit countries that are usually unwelcoming or very strict to visitors

I feel exactly the same about flying. Once I’m on the plane and in my seat it’s all good, but the stress and anxiety of waking up super early to get to the airport on time, long TSA lines, delays, reroutes after missing connecting legs, lost bags at luggage claim, another ride to your end destination, etc etc etc.

I absolutely hate airports as well especially during short transfers from one flight to another. The bigger the airport, the worse if you ask me (Heathrow I am looking at you). Hence whenever it is possible for economy class I always buy lounge access. It is worth the 30 to 50 USD entry fee (you will make it back in less stress, the food, drinks and comfortable seats).

Drew, you hit the nail on the head. Airports, security checkpoints, all that stuff is a gigantic pain in the butt. I admire your dedication and work ethic so much and you're undoubtedly one of the bravest individuals I've seen on TH-cam. It's all part of traveling the world. It's not glamorous 24/7. However, it's incredibly rewarding at the end of the day and you display that so well. Cannot wait to see your train adventure with Tom.

I thought I was the only one. I’m always in panic mode the whole time when I’m at airports. Especially when it’s far from home. The anxiety for missing my flights, cancellation of the flight or getting asks suspicious questions. The hardest part is calming yourself down. Are there people who have some tips?

Drew! Never be afraid to share yourself……on every level! This clip gives me a better understanding of all you go through on EVERY level to produce your content. I was in the travel industry for about 40 years and traveled extensively for business. It takes its toll. For me, the challenge is how severely claustrophobic I am. Even though I was fortunate to mostly fly first class, I had to pretty much talk to myself so I could chill out. Not afraid of flying at all….love flying…..not being able to get out at will was/is, my bag. At 66 years old now, iv3 surrendered my wings and will no longer fly.
Your videos are awesome and give those who don’t travel the opportunity to travel the world. Be safe and keep up the good work. Remember…..breathe.

I love airports personally but everything you are saying is completely relatable for people who fly a lot. And recently in Cairo the airport was hectic but due to safety reasons. Other than small fears in flying, experiencing the world and other cultures is an amazing experience and for some only a once in a lifetime chance. But I love this channel for opening up about the inside of other countries and not just what the news says about them. You got this👍
