The scariest situation of my entire life happened to me a few days ago. My main TH-cam channel (this account) was hacked by a crypto scammer in China. He changed the name of my account to “Ark Invest”, changed the profile picture, deleted all of my videos, and was live-streaming a Bitcoin video featuring Elon Musk's face on the thumbnail. When I found out the news on a golf course in Wisconsin, I blacked out for 2 hours and couldn’t speak... Seriously. Thankfully, TH-cam has been SO responsive and amazing to help me recover my account, and now it's back in full health.
THIS IS A PSA REMINDER TO CHANGE ALL YOUR PASSWORDS AND DON’T CLICK ON RANDOM LINKS FROM RANDOM EMAILS. HACKERS ARE EVERYWHERE, AND THEY ARE SMARTER THAN YOU.

Hackers are pretty despicable. The most cowardly of all cowards. Had my PC hacked half a year ago and I'm still wishing I could just find that SOB and teach them a lesson their father never could.
My brother’s girlfriend got hacked and they went as far as creating deep fake videos of her, they went through all her messages and videos with info and was the most sophisticated I’ve ever seen.
Also had my dead grandma’s Facebook account hacked and lost everything of hers on there (years and years of photos)

Spammers on TH-cam are sending comments saying something like “Thanks for watching, text this number I have a surprise for you ☝️☝️” and they have a phone number for whats app on their channel name with weird and small letters in their name

Hackers definitely need to be taken more seriously like the FBI should not ignore when years of work just is gone in minutes that's just not okay. I don't feel like hackers are punished harshly enough they are just skillful humans behind a computer at the end of the day( not skillful in a good way ) they need to be brought to justice

The FBI doesn’t ignore it, unfortunately most of these instances including this one are of foreign entities residing in countries without cyber agreements with the United States.
Eventually the politicians will react. 30 years ago most politicians treated climate change like how today they treat the issue of cybercrime today. Now most politicians from what I've seen are always talking about how they will fix it (whether or not they actually will). The question is, when.

I never knew later after when I found out you were hacked they made that “Let us stream before we delete your channel” threat! That is just terrible and I am so thankful that your channel is back! And I gotta say, this is the biggest channel I have saw that has been hacked!

It was something I never expected seeing your channel out of our hand and control. I remember my mood wasn't good all the day until the channel came back as how it was. I was checking all the time to see if it's restored. I can feel how devastating is to lost community, memories and all the stories from over the world.
Any one who hacked that account was rude and criminal, why should someone snach someone's efforts, time, hobby, and life as your channel is crucial to your life. It's also important for us, we watch your travel videos and engage with community while we're at our places.
I hope that it should never happen.
Even though I stopped watching your vids, but good on you, that you got sorted and up and running again. Getting hacked is serious stuff. I loved your travelling content before you've finished every country. Those were proper vids, now, imo, you lost your way. All the best for you in the future.

It was really heartbreaking to see that your channel was hacked. It was sooo great to see your channel back and was so relieved. My advice is you to at least keep changing your passwords and never share any personal information. It is not in our control what hackers can do, but what’s in our control is how we can protect ourselves from hackers and secure our profiles.

Drew ,can understand how stressful it would be for you to restore the account and the level of trauma you would have gone through to hear the account getting hacked. Your account is a library for me and pick the videos to see and to show others whenever required. I would be in loss, had some contents got deleted.

There was another TH-camr that was hit with this hack as well. They had to go through hell to get it back but they did. Apparently it's a group of hackers that target certain TH-camrs & they can easily bypass 2 factor authentication to get into your account

Depends on the type of 2fa (sms/phone number hijack could be one), also possibly someone with access and already logged in got compromised. Could be a new exploit as well. Steps however can be taken to mitigate those risks though.
