  • Typhon 3S and 4s Outcast Kraton SEE BELOW FOR NOTES
    If you've got one of the 3S or 4S trucks from Arrma (Senton, Granite, Typhon, Outcast, Kraton) then you may have had an issue with the plastic diffs or driveshafts on your truck. The new metal differentials from Hot Racing should prevent any ring/pinion problems in the future, as well as offering support for more power. The CVD slider set from Arrma isn't completely metal, but we have stronger parts where the normal plastic driveshafts were breaking. Note, if you have a Typhon, you can make these driveshafts work but you'll need some extra parts (see below). This video is less of a how to, and more of a general overview and some install tips. Kraton/Outcast 4S keep reading below too.
    What you'll need:
    Metal Hot Racing Diffs (you'll need 2 if you want the front and rear diff done) Part#ATF9337 ebay.to/39aFUL5
    Hot Racing Metal Diff cups (you'll need 2 if you want the front and rear done) Part #ATF11A01 ebay.to/2U8FNvh
    CVD Slider Set Part #AR310870 (you'll need 2 if you want CVD's in the front and rear) ebay.to/33DqdLa
    Hot Racing Metal Diff Yoke Part#ATF11Y02 amzn.to/3badjqG
    2.0mm Driver (long, you can remove the stock shafts with this) amzn.to/2WBloAK
    NOTES!!! Typhon 3S and 4S Kraton/Outcast
    Now, if you have a Typhon, you'll need to change out the wheel hex as well (Typhon 3S uses a different wheel hex mount than the rest of the 3S line). The easiest way to do this is with the Hot Racing 10mm extended hubs for 17mm wheels Part #ATF117XT02 amzn.to/2QC9L8N If you choose the Hot Racing 10mm extenders, you'll need 17mm wheels as well (if you don't already have them-Typhon 3s comes stock with 17mm FYI).
    4S Owners!!! The CVD slider set is NOT AVAILABLE for the 4S lineup yet. If you really really need to upgrade your driveshafts, you'll have to swap to the 3S lineup suspension arms (Typhon) and the other related parts (turnbuckles, steering links, hubs, etc). It's probably best to just wait for the 4S cvd sliders to be released. If you have a 4S Outcast or 4s Kraton, you'll only be able to install the diff yoke, metal diff cups, and the metal differential gears.

    Here's another two thumbs up for your collection! I appreciate that you didn't edit out the fact that it took some adjusting to get it right. Many people don't get that aspect. Looking forward to more. Be well.

    Great job on this video. Very informative and easy to follow. Your Kraton really jams. I dread when the time comes where my 3s Typhon or Granite need new Diffs but I can just look back at this video for reference. Awesome Thanks ... 🏆🏆

    Thank you for the information. I change the fluid out on rear diff on Granite. 1 million to help lock up rear. Strip ring & pinion, won't do that again and this was with slipper clutch tight half turn backed off, and wheelies on the street. Bat. 7000mah 120c. Three wheelies and boom ! What do you recommend once I replace with metal and I'm running 20t pinion. Thanks
    And also plastic axles had to be replaced. Thanks.

    Same mine are still holding up very strong after 6-8 hard runs and crashes my wheels are stright like a knife i even upgraded my (A-arms for "Rear & Front") all in all i just lube the shafts and bearing so its running good im gonna upgrade my difs very soon. Ill buy the parts some point in time but before i install them ill run and run my car untill its toast inside but just the casual cuz i dont wanna have to put the metal parts in to early but maybe ill upgrade to 6s combo 😂 but its fairly fast so i gotta do more on the dirt to handle my high speed crashes before we go faster up.

  • @PopExpo

    When you buy a 3s or 4s arrma truck, you're basically buying a roller. If you like to wrench and put together your own build, which is what I like to do anyways, the 3s/4s line is a good starting point. Just dont expect a quality RTR experience.

    The only way for the driveshafts to pop out and cant be reused is due to the clutch being too tight i never poped one in my 4s kraton but the rear pin holes are pretty stretched up because it was my first rc and year i locked the clutch all the way XD. Also dont forget to shim the diffs i had to shim mine when i got the hot racing yokes

      The area where the pins are seems to be what snaps, and setting the slipper can be a pain! Upgraded shafts just means more driving time between rebuilds/breaks (usually haha)

    I have the firma spektrum smart 150a esc and motor on my senton 3s blx. the first two supporting mods were the steel spur and pinion gear upgrades. I got a 17t spur on mine. best upgrade so far for 6s. I use metal drive shafts. as well. next is the metal diffs front and rear . I see from the description that I can use these parts on my 3s blx senton?

    I just received the arrma boost box. Two metal diffs with composite yokes. I bought two alloy yokes to swap onto it. Do you know if I should open the housing and put oil or grease inside the diff? And do I need to upgrade any other gears to make the entire drivetrain metal? I have no real logical reason to go full metal other than. I just want to upgrade the crap out of it and I don’t like the idea of any moving part being plastic. Please if you know anything about the arrma boost diffs or have any tips. Let me know. Thank you!

    So far the issue is the diff yoke seperating under 4s power i know the kraton 4s is effected by it but alluminum yokes seems to be the fix. I hope your hot racing diff doesnt eip the seals or somethijg in the future because no way of getting spares

    Let it be known... You do not need a long 2mm driver to get the stock shafts off of the diff. Just put a little extra pressure on the driveshaft at the joint, and you can get a short driver into the joint area to get it off. Try it...

      What’s your goal/use for the car? Like I mention in the video, 6s is pretty ridiculous lol.
      But at least these should deal with 6s okay...I think.once I have more time beating on the truck I can let you know how it’s holding up.

    I installed those cvd sliders on my granite that has typhon arms. There is not a lot of contact area inside the sliders with the longer arms. I had a little tumble wumble and the slider popped out of the shaft. It didn’t break, but I’m afraid with continued use it with eat the sliders up.

    • @continuecrushingrc3653
      @continuecrushingrc3653  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I haven't checked how much contact there is in them, I thought it was a bit though. I'm shocked the arms flexed enough for the shaft to pop out. I'll need to pull mine apart and see how much they contact.

    it stripped because u cut a hole in bottom of chassis and its hitting rocks ect....i know alot people do this mod..but its a dumb mod theres reason why they didnt put a hole there lol....

    • @continuecrushingrc3653
      @continuecrushingrc3653  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spur gear stripped because of ridiculous power going through a tiny little plastic gear...the slot in the bottom allows the sand and dirt that DOES get into the "sealed" area to fall out. Now that doesn't mean rocks and stuff don't cause it to strip out, but I think this is a screwed if you do, screwed if you don't mod lol. Don't cut a hole and debris builds up in there, cut a hole and stuff can get in there...I think the chances are greater of stuff getting stuck in there and causing damage because it can't get out, but I'm sure tons of people think the opposite!
      The 6s line has the spur and pinion completely exposed, but they have metal from factory, but rocks do get in there too and crack the spur on occasion!
      Build, bash, break, repeat haha. Happy bashing!
