I had to tweak mine. I changed the second dispenser to an observer looking at the cocoa bean. Ran that to the piston and boom, worked great.
I used to make his farms on creative just to make sure if it's clickbait or not, but now I already trust him so much that I do it on my survival world.

This design wastes bonemeal as it does not fully grow the beans consistently so you only get a small percentage of profit and the rates suffer (that and/or the piston moves too fast to register planting the bean or for the bonemeal to even be applied by the dispensers).
How to fix:
Pause video at 3:34.
See where the redstone dust goes on top of the first dispenser coming from the comparator clock? Extend that line over the top of the topmost block continuing in a straight line from right to left so it connects to the dust on top of the other dispenser.
Now remove the redstone dust and the 5 blocks below them surrounding your sticky piston that previously connected your dispensers and piston to the clock in tandem (we don't want them operating in tandem we want them separate so we can time it correctly).
Now if you were to turn it on you would have just the dispensers firing off the clock and the piston is disconnected.
Now you want to connect your piston with redstone coming off the clock separately with two repeaters on 4 tick delay so the piston is timed perfectly to allow the cocoa beans to fully grow before being broken off by the piston.
(This way you will see the bean turn bright orange instead of just green or light orange and hear the distinctive rustling noise that means it is fully bonemealed/grown before it breaks every time instead of only 20-50% of the time because the piston was moving way too fast)
The way you do this is (still looking at the paused video at 3:34), from the block just to the right-hand side of the first dispenser, place two blocks coming back towards the screen, and then two to the left so the last block is right behind the sticky piston and below the jungle log.
On the first of those 4 block you just added place a repeater facing toward the screen on 4 ticks, after the turn on the third block you placed, place another repeater facing left (also on 4 ticks).
Now put redstone dust on the 2nd and 4th blocks (the corner and end ones) so the piston is connected up to the clock just before the dispensers with the 2 repeaters on the appropriate delay.
Now when you turn it on you will notice the dispensers are firing faster than the piston is firing. This is the optimum timing.
Any faster will sometimes break the bean before it is fully grown meaning you get no profit for the item you planted and that 1st growth stage bonemeal was wasted which is a waste of bonemeal and will slow the farm's rates, any slower will waste time (which of course will also hamper the farm's rates).

I tried this, but for some reason it won't work, i think it's because the sticky piston is pushig the coco beans up faster than the bonemeal can be dispensed. How do I fix that?
Very curious if it's feasible to build a fully automatic (and slow) cocoa bean farm that uses the different stages of cocoa bean growth as triggers, with the final trigger causing the piston to move, following by a dispenser planting the cocoa bean. This would make a very slow, but truly automated AFK cocoa bean farm that requires no "fuel" to run.
Please review this - I have built exact and timing seems off - piston moves to fast dispensers cant bone meal anything as the piston has already pushed off the bean

Another method to get bonemeal is going to the nether and finding that soul sand valley thingy biome and mining the bone fossils then putting them in ur crafting table to make bone meal u can get lots from exploring the nether's soul sand valley
Jc is why I'm good at redstone. I didn't have much knowledge about comparator and the redstone clock but now my friends ask me to teach them the build. I told them sub to jc playz he thought me this brilliant stuff.
