    On February 3rd, 2020 Matt and I started our 7 day trek up the Machame route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It proved to be one of the hardest things we've ever done in our lives, but also one of the most rewarding and incredible experiences we've ever had!

      So questions: While you're hiking where do you go to pee? Looks very crowded... And did they cater food to you as a vegan , or did you have to eat whatever they provide? And then finally, what happens when someone can't continue, how do they get back down? Does a guide/porter go with them?

    How did you train for this? I would love to climb the kilimanjaro but I’m wondering how much I need to train

    Thank you for sharing this!! Climbing Kili is on my bucket list, and now with the lockdown I am even more determined to do this once I graduate in two years. I've even started emailing companies....it does look like there was so many people on that route though....did that make it harder? I'm looking for a route that has a high % summit rate but not the busiest, is there such a thing :) I can't can't wait for more videos!! Perfect lockdown viewing :)

      Nadine and I chose to climb the most popular and busiest route on the mountain for several reasons. I don't think it was any harder due to the fact that there was lots of other people on the route, it never really affected us.
      Every other route is generally less busy than the Machame (the one we climbed), and some of them even have a higher success rate. But of course there are pros and cons to different routes and we'll be covering all this in an upcoming informational video on climbing Kili, so make sure to check that out!

    Awesome Job climb Kili. I completed the summit exactly last year as well. And we both have the same lowepro bag =) And just last Feb, I climbed the next 7 summits, Aconcagua at 7000m. Seems to be a theme here

    • @mattofstie9298
      @mattofstie9298 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! Which route did you take on Kili? How much harder was Aconcagua?

    • @StandingInMotion
      @StandingInMotion 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattofstie9298 Machame as well. Instead of 7 days we did it in 6. As for Aconcagua, Kili was a great warmup to prep for high altitude. You will have a lot more time to acclimatize, at base camp and half day hikes to prep you for the summit. It will be your toughest expedition ever for your body, and you must have a lot of will power to keep pushing. Its about an avg 50% success rate summit, and in my group, only 2 of us out of 7 made it to the top. If you're interested, you can check out my story highlights on my instagram @standinginmotion

    Hey Nadine do u rent hotel rooms for the period you are hiking as well even though you are not staying there ?

    • @mattofstie9298
      @mattofstie9298 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you don't keep your hotel room during the hike. All of your extra stuff that you don't need on the hike is left at the hotel in a storage room. Just make sure you have another room booked for the night that you come off the mountain. All the good tour providers will organize all of this for you and tell you exactly what to do 👍
