I accidentally found a shiny Pichu 2 hours into my first playthrough, was just using the lets go to clear an area for materials and it wouldn't take down the Pichu and turned out to be shiny.
The best part was when he was tricked by that one guy who used their game to find a shiny, screenshot it, have it in an area he had been in and then post it to John, the effort he put in just to instantly be discovered and John laughing at him. Mad respects to him.
When I was playing Pokémon Violet, right after I completed the main story, I wanted to see the places I haven’t seen yet, so when I went to go find an iron valiant, but accidentally found a full odds shiny Sneasel instead. Then the very next morning I was just aimlessly roaming around and found another full odds shiny Arcanine. Then legit only a few hours later, I wanted to go get a frigibax, but I found a shiny Glalie instead! My friend was super ticked that I found 3 full odd shinies all less than 24 hours from each other.
I started to fill the dex right after the credits, and I've now found 6 shinies, two of which were back-to-back Snorunt within *TWENTY MINUTES* of each other.
In all fairness, if gamefreak had added the shiny sparkle for when they spawn (which isn't in the game for some godforsaken reason) he wouldn't have missed so many shinies.

Learning that it's shiny has a pink flower has led me to believe that there is a 90% chance that I've unkowingly passed a shiny deerling, since I haven't found a random shiny yet.

My first shiny was a 1/4096 Maschiff. 30 minutes into the game. Second was a 1/4096 or so Shroodle I accidently ran into while looking for Dex completion stuff. I really don't think Shiny Herbs and Shiny Charm are needed this generation...

For those who want their own shiny roaring moon, here's some tips. Number 1, stay off koraidon. The last thing you wanna do is despawn a shiny as it spawns in. Number 2, keep the camera zoomed out and constantly rotate it as you walk around. Keeping the camera zoomed out lets you see more pokemon and constantly moving it around makes it easier to spot a shiny if it spawns behind you. Number 3, stay away from the lake and the walls. The lake spawns golduck if you get too close and if you're familiar with looking behind walls you'll know that pokemon spawn behind them sometimes. This just kakes it easier on you. Lastly, use autobattles to free up spawning space so more pokemon can spawn per sandwich which may make the shiny easier to get
Dam I can't imagine me saying to my past self “ you can get about a shiny an hour in the new games “ I remember playing the old games and being happy with one shiny that took me 20 hours to hunt lol.
There's no scientific explanation, but I subscribed a little before Legends: Arceus came out and I got like three shinies in the first day of playing. My brother is a serious shiny hunter and was so mad about it. I don't know how, but I think the pm7 guarantee works.

If you throw a ball at a Pokémon you have already caught, and the ball succeeds, instead of doing the full animation it shows the critical animation
critical capture happens more often the more pokemon you caught so if you complete the pokedex your critical capture rate hits its max
