Only 17 comments? Oh man. You deserve more. I watch all of your videos. My girlfriend and I are very invested in euro-style board games (she hates it when she loses to things out of her control etc.) and I love that you exist and upload videos on youtube. Keep em' coming, mang. I bought this several weeks ago (along with 7 other games), and we still haven't put it through it's paces (time constraints + other games). I just opened it up tonight and put it together. Thanks for the videos.
Your description of the first player mechanic is incorrect. You get the first player token if you occupy that space, unless you already have it. Only if you already have it does it move one player to the left.
It seemed to be too short for just one whole rotation of the big gear. This probably means, that you have only a few good choices to be made about pulling your workers through out the game. Also i think some people can be paralyzed by analyzing how many spaces the gears would move in next few turns :)
I like your reviews more than Tom Vasel's! :]. Tom always seems so negative and often complains about theme. I like that Ryan can be critical but remains positive throughout his reviews.
Wow. Saw this game in the shop, and thought...looks interesting with the gears, but really complex. After seeing the review, I'm absolutely boggled. Do designers actually go out of their way to top each other for the title of "most absurdly complex game mechanics and rules?" Seriously, I've watched a lot of Dice Tower reviews, thought some games looked mind-blowingly complicated, but this one is the new champ. Dominant Species has been dethroned! Thanks for the review, Ryan!
Did you check Alchemists? I bought it as my first board game. I didn't know what i was buying :D. I can't believe how crazily complicated it is but I love it the more I understand it. I didn't get the chance to play it yet.
Wow, you're really great at doing reviews! But what a sneaky game to 'infiltrate' people with the ideas that the Maya were competitive, all about money and gain and win and throw others off? People think their calendars are difficult (which they're not, though complicated) so let's make a difficult game? Could only watch 4:32 min...

Thats because Mayan calendar dosent have leap years. Its a different system its 13 month, 20 day calendar.
Can't keep a straight face every time Ryan says "pulling a worker off"
Marcus Boyce just you and I then!

Reminds me of Agricola but with a twist.
Ryan's hands talk really fast.
Anybody know how good this is with 2 players. For our next buy me and the wife are torn between this and "Village" and "Tobago".

very similar to 10,000BC board game, isnt it?
I love that no one does the research to know that Mayans didn't account for leap years in their calendar and the world should have ended in 2009...
It never fails..I'm bound to get SOMETHING wrong!
I'm sure I would fare far worse :) I enjoyed the review. I also enjoy the game. Very interesting mechanics.
Hey Ryan, do you have asthma? You sound like you got the wheezes going on. Just wondering cause I'm an asthmatic too.
