    Best Game Rules explanation videos around, seriously. Doesn’t feel stilted or top heavy like Rodney and Paul (still love ‘em tho!). The humour is on point, and by clearly outlining victory conditions at the beginning and returning to important points as you go it makes learning quite complex games (and their maddening iconography) a breeze. It’s like you’re sitting at the table with a group conversing, rather than just reading a PowerPoint display. Thank you so much!

    Hello, there! Very good explanation. This is seriously the best one I've seen on one of my favorite all-time games. You can see that by the fact that I'm here watching a rules video of a game I already know how to play and have played over 100 times LOL. I'd like to also use this opportunity to point out an error that you might want to correct in the explanation. In the bit about technologies, the second Agriculture technology doesn't only allow you not to need to burn the forest in order to harvest corn. It does that too, but as a consequence of what it actually does, which is that collecting corn from any green space within the Palenque gear no longer REQUIRES a tile (if there is a tile to be grabbed, you still need to grab it, but if there isn't, you can still collect corn in any green space as you would normally do).
    Cheers and Kudos!

  • @rmarzullo87
    @rmarzullo87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice explanation as usual. Just a clarification. In Tzol'kin are only considered resources wood, stone and gold (cristal skull and corn are not). It might get some confusion since you called all of them as resources on 1:23. In addition, another thing I only figure out years later after start playing this game is: even though technology track are cummulative, you only get extra perk related to the specific action that you took. In other words, you won't get a extra gold, stone and wood if you reach lvl 3 in resource track and trigger action 3 in Yaxchilan. Srry about my english I'm not a native speaker (brazilian).

    • @NightsAroundaTable
      @NightsAroundaTable  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good observations, and they both crossed my mind. i addressed the latter in my call-out about that confusing "construct a building" icon, but didn't further say that the same reasoning applied to all tech spaces. Yet it doesn't seem as perilous in other tech spaces... that second space on the Agriculture track, for example (dig to get corn)... it's reasonably clear that's a "when..." scenario. The "construct a building" icon, not so much.
      There are lots of picky points to mention with games like these, and i try to keep them as tight as possible. i didn't want this one to run 20 minutes, but there you are. You're right about the resources, but the saving grace that the game makes clear is the icon is a square, and only the three resources you mentioned match that profile.

  • @jennisonb37
    @jennisonb37 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    One clarification. If the starting player decides to advance the day twice, he can't do so if there are workers on the second to last spots on a wheel, not the last spot. The last spot would get knocked off anyway on a single-day advance. You can't knock off a worker who wouldn't otherwise be knocked off (i.e. in the 2nd to last positions on each wheel).

    Hi😃👍Thank you for a nice run-through of the Tzolk'in game! However one thing is still unclear! The second track on Technology???! The rules give two opposite explanations?! One rule says you can take like two stones here, the other explanation says that technologies are cumulative ---So which is it???! On the second spot on the second technology-track, can I still take two wood even if my player is on the spot for an extra stone?! I would be very grateful for an answer! • @Hakucho64
    @Hakucho64 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You made a slight error when explaining the end-of-age (blue) scoring. If multiple players are tied for the lead on a temple track, they don't "split the points". Instead, they each score half the points (see p13). The outcome is the same for two tied players, but not for any other number of tied players.
    Another mistake I noticed: the second agriculture advancement (apart from improving your "corn fishing") doesn't just let you dig under the wood to get the food underneath; critically, it also lets you get corn from a Palenque space when there are no corn tiles there at all.
