Indeed Mr buckethead makes a number of similar or better tracks like this, and do it month after month after month, it just keeps coming,

Anne Kakes Except that Buckethead makes album after album of bloody awful row with one excellent song on it. That's why his live shows feature about five decent tunes from all those albums plus shite like Star wars and loads of atonal shredding. Satriani turned out more decent tunes on surfing with the Alien than ten Bucket albums. He needs to release less stuff and edit more.

That main low heavy riff of this just popped into my head a couple of months ago and I haven't heard this song in years and years and years and I couldn't think of where that riff came from, then suddenly today I remembered and I had to rush straight here to listen to the song again! My day is amazing now!

EVH was a great pioneer of the whammy bar and tapping. Vai has taken it a step further and taken rock guitar playing to new heights. The deliciously slow riff of `Bad Horsie` combined with the spray of tapped 128th notes or whatever is, well, delicious. The silver body paint! Thumbs up for that too!

I love how Steve Vai wrote this song. For the majority of it he remains strangely transparent in the song. Then towards the end he just goes full on STEVE VAI and buries you in taps, squeals and blistering pentatonics. A true work of art in the ranks of Eruption/You Really Got Me.

That is one brilliant rythm section that helps to drive Steve's style & sound along nicely...
I fell in love with this instrumental as soon as it started & all these many year's later its still an amazing driving groove from the engine room of the band & Steve's ongoing pursuit to make himself a better guitarists that makes his playing stand out so much more than many others but thats not to say those others arent brilliant in their own right...
What should give many budding lead guitarists some light in the dark is Steve's honest opinion of himself & that he had wasnt born naturaly gifted & he had to practice like crazy to eventually get as good as he has become & he still modestly admits that he is still on his ongoing journey to make himself bettter on the guitar by trying new innovative ideas & pushing himself way outside of his comfort zone...
The late great Neil Peart had already established himself as one of the best drummers in rock & could've just continued doing his own thing but instead he started from scratch to reinvent himself & changing his style of playing & that takes some serious amount of practice & time to do this...
I've always been more drawn to innovative musicians as they continue to strive to try something new & different & they always leave me wondering what will they come out with next!...
Steves 61 years young now & looks better now than he did 30 plus year's ago but its is still ongoing journey to try new approaches & consistently push himself to make himself a better player when most at his age are thinking of sitting back & taking it easy...
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...
    .....

***** Jimi Hendrix was not as technically proficient, but he was to his generation what steve vai is to ours. I've read interviews where Eric Clapton and a few other guitarists were ashamed of how they couldn't make their music/guitar/style come close to his.

I've enjoyed Hendrix since I was about 10 or 12 listening to him with my older cousins. Being an only child I got to hang around with them and learn some stuff earlier than I might not have otherwise. I've also enjoyed Steve Vai since I first saw him in Crossroads. My buddy used to say "that dude can do stuff with a guitar". Ain't it the truth.

Hunter Gilmore It might well have been recorded live (though unlikely) as he played it. Theyre using several camera angles so even if it was recorded as he played it the person editing the video may have got the timing of the video wrong. Steve is good enough that even if he was fake playing to a track he would still play it perfectly. I would blame the person editing the video more than Steve.

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. it's the exact audio as the studio.
      2. you can't get the timing off of ONE lick and suddenly it's in time after that in the same shot.
He's just playing along to the record.
