Northland holds a special place in my heart growing up for numerous reasons....I had my very first kiss was at Northland, my first taste of the nightlife at Northland, my first girlfriend at Northland. I can’t even talk about my childhood without including Northland. I’m glad to see this rink is still alive and thriving, and ppl are making lasting memories in northland like I did. I live in another state, so one of these days ima have to make an trip up to the D and get my roll on.
Love this culture, wished we had it here in Canada. So good to see young, old, big, small, black, white and all levels and abilities out there having fun and getting their exercise on! This is such a positive outlet, that needs to spread. Thanks for sharing!

Do it! I been going to our rink every week for the past two years. Nobody can beat me in a 20 lap race through heavy traffic. I turn 60 in June. We got a guy 84 who skates with us every week.
I used to skate at motor city and Arcadia in the 60s and started up again I'm 75 now and its rough also I'm practicing in my garage in Mexico damn I miss the old days skate till u drop
Jeebus. Let's hope this catches on elsewhere. And much respect to the DJs for carrying it. A dance floor is one thing...but carrying a crowd of folks on wheels is awesome.

I used to skate in Detroit in the 60s and had to listen to that damned organ music, Canada was ricky nelson or del shanon use to get kicked out of the roller rink and then had to skate with the blacks in windsor now that was fun
Something was wrong and felt different this year. The people that come you think to your self why do they come they look so blank in the face and they don't even look like they are enjoying them selves . Just making appearances a conversation piece for when they are alone with their own friends. Don't come if your not happy or don't really want to be here . You can't fool Detroit People.
liQUID BLUE It's a lot to take in. The size of the rink, the amount of people... the heat. I found out about this from the tent at Movement in 2016 and Moodymann so it was new to me and larger than the weekly and monthly events I go too. I'm sure some of them never come back and others will go out and buy skates... either way I'll back.
Speaking of skates, been watching these skating vids for years and notice that everyone is wearing very thin wheels...I would think you could get better traction and freestyle dance out of wider ones, with the stopper closer to the floor, like I did when I speed skated/danced years ago. Just an obs..keep up the awesome times! Love these!
Thanks for watching. I like the little wheels 52mm that are soft... it's easier to crossover and there don't lock up if your wheels touch. I see people with wood, clay and other hard wheels that like to slide. These guy have good site and will cut any wheels down to any size you want. www.sk8fanatics.com/
