I have watched this video everyday since I discovered it 2 weeks ago. The visuals and music are WONDERFUL
These people can skate. So far Detroit Rock the skates. This is the best video and Music mix, I've seen. It reminds me when I skated. I learned how to skate in 1975, at Empire Roller Rink, in B'klyn, NY. Since then I, lived in skates One time during the transit strike I, skated from the George Washington Bridge to Canal and Broadway ( 8 1/2 miles). I held a job at River Bank State Park, as a Roller Skate Monitor. I skated 7 hours a day, 6 days a week.Then ride my bike from 145 St. to 178 St. to and from work (3 miles round trip). Then I was most fit. Some of the Rinks I stated; Empire, Spin Easy, Roxy, Park Circle, The Garage, Dominican Republic, California, Virginia and elsewhere.

This makes a person forget about most of their problems for awhile. I am so PROUD to see the young people having a nice time and doing physical activity that is very creative and will keep them in shape. Keep doing it y'all. Somebody should start roller skating as an international competitive sport (seriously). God bless.

Five years ago I discovered this video and watched it EVERYDAY for a good month. It inspired me to get back on the 8's after a 15 year hiatus. Now I come back and watch it from time to time to learn some of the moves I admired.

So happy to get a peek into this event. The skate rental shop attendee looked lonely cause looked like most people had their own skates! Incredible feel and joy from the skaters.

Used to skate like this back at this place in the 1980's when it first opened up. We used to go to several different rinks. Certain rinks were for certain nights. 3-4 days a week we would skate
From Buffalo Ny and I wish we had more rinks in the area for exactly this..people together, happy...hanging out. Love all of this.
The people who own the rinks are closing them down because of skate parties like this. They HATE to see us unite into something positive.

Bethany Johns it's actually three different rinks! Every 2 years there's a huge party up here in the D and several rinks participate (soul skate)! So fun!!

It takes very large spaces, high quality wood floors and a great deal of investment for keeping the rental Skates in good condition. Most of all, a great sound system, good D.J. and security. Very few people want to make that investment.

No doubt, If kids spent more time on skates, they would be more social and less hostile. It burns negative energy and creates positive camaraderie. It creates a sense of accomplishment.

I F-N love being a rhythmic soul person. all of the world aspire to be like us. we ALWAYS take stuff to the next level. I have been skating since 8yrs old and i would practice at the white rinks and show off at the black rinks. when i came back to practice new stuff at the white rinks they would be amazed. this was a beautiful video. i LOVE the harmony at skating rinks. and whatever state i am in i always look for a black skating rink. Tears of joy. I love us , black brother and sisterhood. YESSSSSS, RIGHT ON! lol
